glad lennon not playing, do not want him picking up a needless injury in a stupid game a few days before season starts, hope they all come back fit so we can beat the scouse on sunday

Everytime him and Terry pull on the England shirt, they should thank fvck that Ledley's had terrible injury problems, cos he would have been a class above them 2.

Defoe is on fire, hope he will have the same determination on Sunday against the scousers.

Defoe again!!!! Get in lad!!!

Him, Cole and Milner have transformed this game. Agree that Young was mostly anonymous. £25m? Really?!

Better second half, Defoe got man of the match, but for me Cole was immense. I thought we matched if not outplayed Holland in the end. Although most of their danger disappeared when Robben went off.

We were let down by prime numptiness from Rio "crap Snoop Dog wannabe" Ferdinand and Barry. Johnson nearly blew it near the end as well.

Was far from impressed with Young, and Huntelaar did little as well. Although by that time Holland weren't exactly providing their front line much.

Not bad a game for a pointless friendly.

To be fair Huntelaar hasn't kicked a ball all summer but I agree offered nout.

I know us fans are all fickle but based on tonights display you would take Milner over Young thats for sure!

Anybody think our pre season in Asia had J Dizzle looking sharper than most? Might be why Cole turned in a good performance as well. They looked miles ahead in terms of appetite for the game.

Great performance by JD and if Harry was planning in starting Defoe on the bench he should't be now. You just have to play a striker who has just scored two goals against Holland away from home coming off the bench.

Just youtubed the action (was watching Ireland's woeful display against Australia - Keane was fairly good btw) and was very impressed with Defoe's first goal, took it beautifully from the air, good second touch to set and a great finish. As for Van der Vaart's goal..... bloody hell. Less said the better.

Are people serious when they try to claim defoe is one dimensional? Defoe, cole and milner were outstanding. Defoe for me was motm he chased everything down held the ball up, made great runs and looked dangerous. Made his goal and took it wonderfully. Then won the ball back, gave it to cole who then made a good but lucky pass to milner who then showed me why a young maybe is overated (I was a young fan but now this confirms how good milner is) and then found defoe who once again should great movement.

Lampard played consistently well again for england and I must add that Gerrard hasn't shown a similar form since Scholes retired. Carrick came on a made the midfield more confident and settled the side down well, ok one mistake but he looked good. The only england cm player who has a similar ball playing and movement as the spanish/dutch/argie's/brazilians imo.

Also why isn't lennon even in the squad? The lad was sensational last season people keep going on about final product (but never say that about walcott who is 10 times worse!!!!) even though he has a better assist record then walnutt. SWP was wank again.

Glenn johnson also once again demonstrated his innability to be able to link up with his rw.

Carlton Cole looks a player and I would like to see more of the fella at international level ahead of heskey and crouch.

Overall I'm happy.

Can't say I disagree with any of that. It was a friendly though but the good perfomers deserve all the credit they get. Defoe was blinding tonight.

Totally agree about Lennon, but glad he didn't play. Carrick should be a starter ahead of Barry - without doubt.

Yeah he's hit form already, it needs to be him and Pav on Sunday I reckon, both of them looked sharp against Olympiakos, and JD proved his instincts tonight.

MIlner's been class since he was a 17 year old at Leeds. I've been waiting for him to burst onto the scene for years now (he's still only 23!!) and I wished we'd signed him from Leeds same time as Lennon and Robbo.

Whats funny is when he played against us twice King just totally bullied him, but tonight cole looked like a drogba. I hope he scores goals next season and I would go with keane defoe against liverpool.

Its hard we have four top strikers and on form defoe/pav should start, but I can see defoe and captain keane start with crouch looking to come on.

the thing i like about milner is even when he is having a bad game or is off form he still does a job for the team and doesnt hide , young on the other hand, if things arent going well just disappears from the game .
