In 2004 Tottenham paid £2.75m to West Ham, then of the Championship, for Carrick and restored a player who had made his England debut in 2001 to the top flight. Some 75 games and two goals later a player with only two years on his deal at Spurs is apparently worth almost seven times what Spurs paid for him. "I have not spoken to anybody who, with £18.6m, would have spent it on Carrick," said Mark Longden of the Independent Manchester United Supporters' Association. "I can't understand what's going on."
We know. LOL, thanks for the cash.

It would be quite funny if he got a career threatening injury in his first game..
No wait, that's horrible.. But I stand by it.

Not a career threatening, maybe just a season ending ;)

Why not? The other day I was thinking about how good our squad was and how it was too good to be true. Then I realised a few injuries could hit us bad....
...and then I read that our captain is out for 2 months.

As I just posted on another thread, our squad is so versatile now that we can easily overcome injuries and loss of form.

As each hour passes the Great Carrick Robbery gets funnier and funnier. I cant wait for all the cliches - "It was always a dream of mine to play for Man Utd - a dream come true", "when a club like Man utd come in for you, you cant say no", "Mr Ferguson was one of the main reasons I joined", "Money has nothing to do with my move - purely footballing reasons", "Man Utd are going places and I want to be a part of that", "No the transfer fee isn't a burden - I just hope I can play really well for the club and if England call me up then thats a bonus" etc etc. Cheers EASY - Carrick worth £18.5 million ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Newcastle beckons for him in 3 years time.
