i think we have to forget about the result and test out the likes of ziegler and barney. we need to know if they can cut it.

my starting team would be

--------robbo
tainio or ghaly daws davs ekotto
routy hudds davids ziegler
------defoe berby (swap keano and barney at half time)

massive chance for hudds to shine today, i hope he gets stuck in and threads some of those killer passes. surprised we've stayed 3 up front even if it doesn't play like that. draw would be a good result especially with leds and jenas out. there's not much pace in the tackling department.

with the teams that are playing and us being at home id expect us to win today

bit of a mixed bag first half. struggling to create chances due to having no width, and the fact that inter are playing defensive and getting back very quickly. just the type of game defoe and berby need. really disappointed with davids, he just doesn't contribute enough with the ball, always seems to be playing in a team of one. hopefully ifil and ziegler will come on, push routy up and have a go at them. good pace to the game though. have been disappointed with hudds too, must push on more and get involved in moves rather than just looking for a pass.

Think we play okay... Keano looks to continue his form from last year and Berba looks like a really good striker...

Davids looks totally of pace and havn't done well...

worried for berby also, he isn't a big muscular striker, he uses his skill and control. the english defenders will kick the crap out of him lol. he reminds me a bit of archibald.

interesting it was with his left foot, but we hardly played him left wing last season. great result. good points for me were berby coming back and tackling, the two guys at the back doing well. ekotto looked composed and switched on, even if i didn't see him tackle much. for me routy and davids were poor, kept giving the ball away which was the difference between the two sides really, as neither made many chances. thought ghaly was outstanding when he came on, ziegler also looked good. was very little service to guys up front, but had we kept the ball better i think we could have beat them comfortably. Hudds needs to improve a lot on that performance. him and davids in the middle gave nothing to the forwards.

The first goal was pretty, but he played a good match and proved his flexibility by playing at right back most of second half. And scored his goal from there...

Ghaly looked promising when he came on and Ziegler did fine too...

We played a lot better with the 4-4-2 formation in the second half...

Thought Defoe was bad and dissappointed me a lot..

i know defoe had no service, but he still seems the only one who can provide something from nothing. hope we haven't bid for martins as i thought he had a bad attitude. surprised barney didn't get some time. maybe he won't be our fourth striker.

we will look by far better with Robbo, King, Zokora, Lennon and Jenas

really hope we lose davids on that performance, he's still closing down a lot but gives so little going forward and got tackled so many times. he was our weak link today. i can only assume that we're playing routy at right back to make him more combative and less of a luxury player. he clearly can't play right back and he didn't get forward from there. with ghaly, tainio or ifil who could have played there, it must be a test for routy to be more involved in the game and improve his all round game. he didn't play well for me, contributed nothing and didn't look happy either.

routy did he even play i did not see him once as far as i can remmber bebertove needs to quicken up forget being a yard off the pace it was more like 2 that new guy Benoit Assou-Ekotto was all over the pitch getting in to space and tracking back when needed really impressed with him
Teemu Tainio my man of the match today scored a nicely deflected first goal and the second well i am calling an assist on that one as i was the loud mouthed person that shouted shot at him and well we all no the rest all in all a good day out and a good result considering the absents of the world cup players and ofcours king

hopefully this is the type of teams that we play in the elite competitions instead of pre season warm ups.
