With all that lovely Carrick cash how best do you think it could be spent? Please list your players and transfer fees. In my heart - Torres or Riquelme for £18mill. In reality probably - chimbonda £4mill and Downing £8mill.

Like ive stated in loads of posts the main man we need is MARTIN PETROV of athletico madrid. This guy is very very skillful and very quick,he will command the left wingand also score goals value dunno but we need him whatever the cost, also apparantly hes a great mate of our own berbatov

Please not Downing or Barry. Heard good things about Petrov from a spanish
work mate but wouldn't have a clue how much he'd cost us.Any other options
than Chimbonda at right back? Also with Ledley being injured we suddenly look a bit threadbare at centre back.Someone mentioned Ayala on another thread
and this is now looking like a good shout.

no-one mentioned petrov pre-duff debacle. is petrov only brilliant/best thing since sliced bread now that duff has turned us down? At the transfer negotiating table.... "yes Martin you were always our first choice and the first player we thought of..."

If I was in charge and had 20 mil to blow on new players I'd buy Chimbo for 4mil, then grab MGP for 10, and with the last 6 I would spend 2 off it on that young left winger from Middlesbourgh Johnson I think his name is and 4 mil on um let me ugh maybe Boumsong off Newcastle now that Ledley is injured he's a quality replacement
only feckn joking Boumsong is shite LOL the 4mil would go on **** I can't think of any CB so lets just keep it for January. We got Dervitte whose built like a brick shit house and Davenport, Dawson, Gardner, and Defendi to cover CB.

Buy Martin P £12 mill call me mad but hey carrick cash is good :) plus we need to fill that LB position a.s.a.p buy Patrick Chimbonda 3.5mill I have always liked him when i was watching a game @ white hard lane I saw him play and he caused us a bit of trouble, a good player. also wtf Ledley is injured ? I thought he was back to normal now ?
P.S why is there a big big big gap in your signature ? @ Keanoldinho
P.S that chick looks sexxy, is she just a random chick ? got any more pics of her.

random chicks, mmm my favourite.
boumsong lol nearly choked on me weetabix. i would think hudds and dirk diggler will be cover for centre backs, but we need someone with more experience. i think ayala is free in jan but he would likely have played in euro so we wouldn't be able to use him. i don't know much about petrov, but an attacking lefty is the priority for me. i think we might go for chimbo as much because he could cover right mid also. in that respect he's probably worth 5-6m, i just hope he's good enough at defending. we must have someone lined up for left wing, wilhemsson came and went, we put a cheeky bid in for duff, but my guess is we needed the carrick money. to be either petrov, kahlenberg, downing or babel. hope it's not downing.

NO Downing or Barry, please, MJ if you're reading!!!
Petrov for left, I never wanted Duff in the first place. MGP if we can make Rovers a tempting enough offer.
It looks like MJ is experimenting at RB, Routledge, Ghaly and Tainio have played there in the last few games, probably coz Wigan won't budge and there's no way Chimbonda is worth £6million.

and there's no way Chimbonda is worth £6million.
But that won't be true if he has another fantastic season, then Chelski will probably pay about £700million for him.

i don't think he's honestly considering routy for right back, just giving him a game and trying to expand his tackling side. not that he did much of that yesterday. he was pretty awful. was well impressed with ghaly in the middle and thought ziegler looked much more comfortable on the ball. with them playing and keeping the ball we had a bit more shape. davids and murphy should be sold.

What I don't understand is how Wigan can be happy with fielding a player (provided he stays) who has publicly stated he wants to play for a big team.
You take the best offer in that situation, and we are clearly not going to pay £6m....
You could argue that we did it with Carrick but is it our fault they're stupid enough to pay £18.6m for him? all we did is hold out for more as we didn't want him to go, but in the end, should manure have stuck to £10M we would have had to sell after he'd asked to go. IMO, anyway, I wouldn't have wanted him here. It's just lucky we got so much.
Anyway, back to my point, Wigan are holding out but we just aint as stupid as United, and will only pay his market value. So I think, should our offer be the highest, they should sell. I hope this makes sense!

Suppose we don't sign Petrov, can Ziegler or Tainio do the job for us?
highlander
31st July 2006, 04:43 PM
with the Carick money i would sign Chimbonda, obviously we wont be held to ransom for him but id spend up to about £4.8million on him. i havent seen much of Martin Petrov but what i have seen, he's looked good. id pay up around £6-8million for him. but if Petrov was no-go then ib move for Juan Pablo Sorin for about £2.5million

I think the fact we held out for so much for Carrick means that we can't really get out of paying £6M for Chimbonda. Wigan are only doing what we did, acting in their best interests. Except that Chimbonda is a good player at a shite team, whereas Carrick would have probably done as well with us as he will with the Red Dickheads.

We can afford to wait and let them sweat with a player whose heart is no longer there. Since they have signed another RB, that will eat into their meagre finances as well. I think if we wait long enough, we'll be able to get him at between 3.4 to 4 million.

It may be 4mil up front but we will end up paying a great deal more than what he is worth for him. That is unless we can stick Danny Murphy in the deal, and surely they will be interested in that as Jimmy Bullard has just left...?
Welsh Spur

Yeah reports say they rejected Reid, Murphy and £3.5million. I think that's a great deal for them, esp if Porky sorts himself out. Murphy is proven premiership quality, there just hasn't been a place for him here really.

we should get Anthony Vanden Borre from Anderlecht. He is an exelent right back with only 18 years. And he is in the Belgian national team since he is 17.

Yeah, heard a year ago that he should be a great talent. Never seen him play though, is he good??
There were a few reports that we were intrested in him in the start of july...

so an initial 14m for carrick, very nice. levy really did cane them reds, especially as the hammers don't get any. i think we'll go for chimbo, we can also stick him right side midfield and he'll be combative and good going forward so the use in two positions make him worth it. especially as we could buy bridge then sell salty who cost us nought.

But Ekotto is very good and we have Lee to cover. We do not need Bridge, but a good RB.

personally i feel we should raid ajax, they are a well known selling club and the right offer for someone like babel would tempt them, they have some very good players.
would love babel at the club, very quick, and can cross and also shoot.
trabelsi would sort out rb and mean a solid defence, plus if we decide to get a fourth striker then huntelaar would be a good buy, plus he scored the 1st ever goal at the scum's new grief hole

Agreed derek. I'd definetely go for Babel and Trabelsi, whose name has really appeared since the world cup about transfer specualtion (bit odd).

i've seen him play only in the champions league. He's the kind of guy who never stops running. He's not Ronaldinho with the ball but he handles it very well due to the positions he plays. Besides i've seen him play as CB, RB and MR
I believe it would be a very inteligent signing

At last - there is finally life outside of Chimbonda. I was beginning to think he was the only right back in the world.
This is what I would do - 2 double raids. As mentioned earlier a double ajax raid for babel and trabelsi would be a good starter. Expect to probably pay £10 million for both. Then I would raid Villareal for the argentine duo Riquelme and Sorin. Villareal are selling off their assets after failing to qualify for the champions league and having an oh so nearly season. We could even ask ossie and ricky villa to have a word and tell them how great a club we are. I would pay £2.5 mill for Sorin and £8 mill for Riquelme.

I have said on a few other occasions that Babel will solve our LW and 4th striker problems. Trabelsi of course will be a good fit, but I wonder whether Riquelme is up to the rigors of the EPL.
