This isn't going to be a post about how much I hate him. I can't say I hate him. He's a **** for what he's done because it's more disrespectful than horrible. Spurs took a chance on him. MJ took a chance on him. And he's just thrown it back in our faces.
But Carrick is joining a team who are on the way down. I'm not saying they will struggle or that they will finish outside the top 4. What i'm saying is that, because I truly believe that Spurs have signed the two players Man Utd need, we are gonna give them a good run as well as Arsenal this year. What Man U needed was Roy Keane's replacement. Carrick certainly ain't that. And selling RVN is not very clever. The two players we have bought in are Berba and Zokora, two very similar players to those stated.
Not only have we the more defensive Zokora, but we have The Hudd. I for one want Huddlestone to be playing this year, and I want people to say how even though Carrick has left, we have a ready made replacement, with even better passing skills, an even more stinging shot, and gained 14million pounds.
But what else can we say??? He's left us with 14mil guaranteed, straight up poundage, which we can now channel into the left hand channel to give us a better nicely rounded side. I can't wait for this season to start.
The last thing about it which pissed me off, was Jol's comments on the site. 'We gave him every reason to stay'. Well I don't want players who don't want to be here, and that Ex-Yiddo hasn't made any noises about staying here over the last 6 weeks, or however long it has been. Good riddance to him I say, and thanks Man Utd for all that lovely cash.

I don't think we will miss him personally and the 15+mil. for him is great business for us. Carrick didn't score enough period and never stuck his foot in, these are facts. Now with Hudds who is rumored to be the better player in time, well we scored on this deal. I do believe Carrick will regret this decision and we will all be smiling.

Yea, I don't hate him either. But I think he was disrespectful to Jol. If it wasn't for spurs he'd be at portsmouth or some other shit team, and if it wasn't for Jol he might still be in the tottenham reserves.
He owed at least another year or two of loyalty, but as I and many others have said, this is at his time is actually really good business for us. We've got ready made and better replacements.
Get ready Hudd, now's you're time superstar. It's time to show everyone just how good you are.
And Zokora get you're gun squad A soldier... you're going in.

His loss. Like you said, he's left a team on the verge of achieving great things, to a team who are on the way down and who's best years are behind them.

Great post just what i was thinking. I cant belive people are saying he wasnt that good i believe he is sheer class ( just remember what he did at highbury) but he showed no commitment. But we have got two great players in Zokora who has a heart of a lion and a player who could be carrick shadow ( as he plays just like him)
What makes me laugh people have been saying defoe has got no commitment but he been trying to get carrick to stay, been vocal that he wants to stay and has just got on with things in which people thought he was do
ing just to get in the england side.

Defoe has been phenomenal recently. His enthusiasm is great to see.

Definately. The three players that make our strike force can really become legends at Spurs. Defoe's attitude seems to have done a 180 an he now looks happy to be a Spurs player. Keane is fast becoming Mr. Tottenham, and Berbatov, if he continues to be prolific, will gain immediate hero-status.
And in response to TURKISH, Carrick is not that good. He's not even £10million good. And Huddlestone will become even more instrumental than Carrick ever was. Last season he was dying to play, and now he should get the chance.

Carrick was a good player but far from great and we just got a shit load of money for him. Whoever negotiated that deal for us deserves a pay raise I suspect it was Comolli.
Carrick used us so in return we used him to get a shit load of money, I don't give a flying fook about him anymore. All these young kids thinking we're screwed now are crazy. We have one of the best coaching set ups in the world and plenty of CM including Davids one of the greatest ever.
Davids, Zokora, Jenas, Tainio, Murphy, Hudd, Ghaly(who's in-from I hear), and O'Hara that's 8 fecking CM and 5 of them are established first team players.
We needed to change our style of play anyway because Carrick can be marked out of games especially if you have a player like Zokora to mark him. At manure the team won't be built around him so he could turn back into the player he was at wet spam and wouldn't that be fecking hilarious.
All we need is a LW or 2 and maybe some competition at RB and we're set. It looks like Chimbo might be back on so the LW is our only priority and once that's sorted with quality we'll be challenging the big boys of Europe and England.
**** Everyone COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank **** thats sorted out, Bollox to Carrick, Hudds will shine this year great bit of business by Levy, Joll, Commoli even though it's an undisclosed fee i think we are going to get at least £15 - £18m for him (daylight robbery if you ask me).
One thing is for sure it gives MJ quality spending power now. i think we will move in the transfer market within the next couple of weeks for a L/M any idea's on who it could be.

I'm in agreement. Carrick is quality no doubt, but some areas of his game still need a lot of improvement. He can't tackle, is no deadball specialist and dosen't score from open play anywhere near enough. If United think they've found the next Roy Keane they're having a laugh. With 15 million added to the kitty so are we. We'll miss his wicked distribution, but if he was world class he would have shown it at the World Cup. We have a management team that can finally be labelled "astute" and I trust they will find all the pieces missing from the puzzle. Haven't felt this confident in a decade, bring it on!

He has improved his game a lot over that last year and will become an even better player i'm afraid...
But **** him, we'll move on and have our best ever season in the premiership and get a good run in the cups...

In terms of mentality Carrick is not only not similar to Roy Keane but is nearly the opposite type...Keane was the player with an iron will who never gave up. (Roy is not the only Irish player with such outstanding mental abilities)
No one could ever say that Keane was/is a ****.

As a rule we dont sell too many 'good' players. So when we do it must be for a reason. It's obviously his choice and i respect the way that he's not done an rSOL and just sat it out till he could go for Fcuk all.
Personally i think he's made a mistake and gone a season too early. Fergie has only got a couple of seasons left at the helm and by the time carrick settles in, a new boss could be calling the shots.
I'll have money on Carrick being at the toon within 4 years.

u know how jol knew carrick wasn't commited to spurs?? look back to the arsenal game, two scum go down and carrick actually pauses to see if he should carry on. not what i expect from a spurs player.

That's a great shout! I agree with the majority of posts on this thread. I think Carrick was good for us and I agree totally that Manchester United are a team in decline ie. the amount of money the owners of the club owe the banks - haven't won the league for 3 years - just sold their best striker - and Ferguson not too many seasons from dieing / the boot. The arrogant scot has just sold one big name player too many - I remember he booted out Hughes, Kanchelskis, Ince, Beckham and Keane but there are no more scholes', Giggs' or Butts' coming through their ranks. Lets face it Man U fans would not tolerate a central midfield partnership of Richardson and Fletcher much longer so they have picked to pester the best passer in the premiership - who happens to have northern roots. Carrick's complete wall of silence spoke a thousand words. Personally Im elated that Defoe is staying and hasn't been pinched by Liverpool or Man u. The £15mill is massive profit and we need to strengthen at full back and left wing. So thank you Carrick for 2 years of promise and consistency - but you have just made the biggest mistake of your life.

Well he is a geordie. If he does get better then expect Toon to pay another extortionately stupid fee for the return of their new 'prodigal son' in the next few years...

Carrick“s attitude shows what kind of a bloke he is. The club is better off without him. He“s not worth the money we are getting for him. Which is good because we can now buy two top quality players to bolster the team. Carrick“s departure is good news for Spurs not bad.

With all that money, we could quite easily go out and spend 20 or 25mil on any player/s. For the moment however, I think we are all in agreement, we have all this money for a left winger (top priority) and a right back.
Any left over cash either gets spent on young'uns or goes into the kitty for when a top player becomes available in January or next summer.

Really do not see any sense in risking 7 million+ on Downing. If we can't get anyone better, perhaps persevere with Ziegler or Taino and see how the team function. If we should threaten to break into CL big time and going well in other Cups, then we'll have no problem attracting the big names in January which should then give us the extra bite to go all the way.

Most English players are overpriced, I'm sure we could find a player as good on the continent for half the price.

We be paying about 1 million pounds per game then, as that's probably all we'd get out of him unfortunately. The poor bastard is nearly always injured.
Probably Australia's best ever player but has had horrendus luck with injuries.

HOLD ON!!!???
Harry Kewell...?
I think he's a joke. Granted, on his day he's a great player. But my opinion of him changed during the CL final a lot. 3-0 down and he goes off 'injured', then once they win the ****ing thing he's jumping around with no 'injury'...?
Even Rafa doesn't like him, and publicly said about his fitness before, this would be the second coming of sicknote, and a waste of money.

It's all well and good dreamin' about whoever in a spurs shirt to replace wotwazizname? but we've invested alot of money in young players, good young players at that. We're stable enough to start blooding these kids in the league cup like the others do.
What i really like about Carrick going is what sort of message does it send out to the gang of 4.
Take one of our best players. Pay top Dollar 4 him. Because we know that with what we have we already can do without him. We've planned ahead.
All man u have done is appease their fans (parties in milton Keynes tonight).

I don't think they're fans will be happy that we ripped them off.... Come on, who in their right mind actually believes Carrick is worth £18.6million pounds?!?
And If I had one wish....It would be that we don't sign Downing.
If I had another, it would be that we sign Martin Petrov.
Fingers crossed!!!!
