Trivia
In an interview in 2004, Jol told FourFourTwo that he would ideally like to spend five seasons in management with Spurs before returning back to the Netherlands to run a separate business, not football related.

Martin Jol has 2 brothers, Cock (Cornelius) and Dick, who are both active in the world of football. Cock Jol is currently an overseas scout for Tottenham, whilst Dick Jol is a FIFA-accredited international referee, taking charge of the 2001 UEFA Champions League final.

Martin Jol is affectionately nicknamed Tony Soprano by the Tottenham Fans due to his tough Mafia style appearance.

Martin Jol is known for his public "dislike" for Arsene Wenger, though Wenger feels the same about him.

Some very funny facts here, note MJ's brothers names! The reason I posted this though is the 442 interview....I hope he doesn't, although it does say IDEALLY. Then again wikipedia is quite reliable isn't it???

that means we may only have 3 more years of Jol :( .still we dont know what could happen in the future, we may win the premiership this year and Jol says he wants to stay at spurs forever, similarly we may have an awful season and part company, i desperately hope the latter does not happen but anything is possible in football

Huh, talk about swings between severe optimism and pessimism! Have you taken your tablets today highlander (there can only be one)? Do you really think we can win the league this season? Can I have whatever it is you are drinking / smoking? :p ;) .

Do know something, if we get a few more top signings I think we could challenge... I really do. I think we're among the top four in quality already. And we've money in the coffers... and more when Carrick goes (which I don't think will hurt us).

What did his brothers do to deserve their names?

Imagine Daddy Jol.....
"oh, hey these are my kids, cock, dick and......martin." hmmm.

I really am trying to get really excited about the coming season but whilst my heart screams out optimistically, every other fibre of my body says "don't be stupid, I'll settle for sixth place and a good cup run."

It's hard being optimistic about Spurs before the start of a season. There have been so many times where we've expected to do well and just haven't done well at all.

This time around though, we actually seem to have a squad that is being built up with an actual style and target in mind. Jol knows exactly the kind of players he wants and the kind of football he wants to play.

was truly believing in a place between 2-4... But now that we've sold Carrick, the heart of our midfield last term, I'll settle wit a 4th place and a good run in the cup..

It may not mean to much that we've sold Carrick, but I haven't seen to much of Zokora and I'm afraid Jol won't give Hudds a run... And therefor I'm not sure who's gonna step up and replace Carrick as the player who controls the pace in our game... For sure JJ is a great player, but he don't have the eye for passes and passing range to replace Carrick, neither has Davids, Tainio or Murphy...

Just hope Zokora is a good replacement, and that Hudds will get a run....

I don't see Zokora as a replacement, he's better than Carrick....

i think hudds will be better than carrick as he is a solid, strong and athletic player, more so than carrick. if we were to play Zokora & Hudds in the centre that would allow us to play 2 out and out wingers if we wanted
