How about in the same game, when he missed that one-on-one?

That soft spot should've disappeared instantly!

Zokora to Sevilla £14m

We have reached agreement for the transfer of Didier Zokora to Sevilla.

The Ivory Coast international joined us from St Etienne in July 2006 and went on to make 134 appearances for the Club including being part of the League Cup winning side of 2008.

We thank Didier for his contribution and wish him every success for the future.

The Ivorian holding midfielder has signed a four-year contract with Sevilla after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of €9 million.

Zokora, who joined Tottenham from Saint-Etienne in 2006, made 134 appearances for Spurs, and was part of the side that won the League Cup trophy in 2008.

The 28-year-old will have a €30m release clause attached to his contract and will be officially presented next Wednesday.

Was tenacious, hard working and athletic, with a good attitude. But who misses a one on one with a keeper in a cup final like that?! Useless! Finished worse than Michael Bridges and had the turning circle of a national express coach with 3 flat tyres.

£8.6m is robbery. But great :thumbup1:

Chuffed with that price to be honest.
It was hard to dislike Zokora as he wore his heart on his sleeve, but to be honest he is a pretty woeful footballer.

Although perhaps we could remove his engine before he goes and give it to Huddlestone..........

In my opinion, he wore the shirt with as much pride as the next man. Players may be crap but if they play with pride and as best they can, we should salute that.

If that player is crap [no debate required on that point] it's the club's responsibility to get rid.

I wish him well.

I'm sorry to see Didier gone, yes he had limited talent but he brought one thing to the team which we will lack even further next season, namely PASSION. I'd swap 20 David Bentley's and ten Darren Bent's for one Didier Zokora. Other than Wilson we have lost the only player in our plethora of midfielders with grit and determination....and of course JOH who is less worthy of a first team place than Didier ever was.

Why is there so much love-in for Zok? He played with a smile on his face? Whoopie do.

He was rubbish. Couldn't control the ball, run around like a headless chicken, gave away free-kicks for fun, couldn't cross, pass or shoot, or tackle, or mark, or do anything remotely good except for a 30 yard run every three or four months which would result in a goal kick or the other team jumping on us on the counter-attack!

Good bloody riddance in my view.

Yep, I think you've covered everything there. Apparently, it's more important if a player "loves the club" and "plays for the shirt".

Whilst I did say that and don't have any intentions of changing my opinion I will say that when we were in the shite last aseason he was one of the few to stand up and be counted.

If he wasn't technical enough for England I shudder to think what they'll make of him in Span.

Not really. The sentiment might be shared about those qualities he possessed. In retrospect during the first half of the season he probably stood out for one of the only ones making an effort during the two out of eight era.

Good character, yes. Commendable for his effort, yes. Glad his gone, definitely.
