note that murphy is not included in the squad, also not mentioned as injured so can conclude early exit for mr overated. Hope we get our money back. Wonder if houlier wants him.

West Ham, Southampton or Portsmouth.

well he'd be a step down in class for two of those clubs. i can't see him getting a big time move anywhere. he's looked shit scared playing for us, which probably says a lot about the talent of the other guys he's competing with.

defoe scored again

Their goalie must be even better than Robbo. We should have been in double figures if not for him.

Who did? And how do you know? It's not on the Official site yet.

It's now on the official site. Barbie pulled down and scored the ensuing penalty. Then got subbed.

I doubt that against Inter we will start with Keano, Berby and Defoe. Who will stay on the bench?

GOAL yet another pen, Defoe this time

Barney would be the striker on the bench and i presume that the wingers would be interchangeable with the wide strikers

so far no goal for Keano. Hopefully he will score vs Inter

excuse my ignorance but where do Stevenage play? 2 division?

25th July 2006, 08:55 PM
thats true, its a potential downfall of this system as it doesnt suit Robbie at all, im assuming we will stick with the 4-4-2 and this is a plan b
Chinaman
25th July 2006, 08:57 PM
I should think so. Jol is just working on Plan B.

inter will be a work out for the international players and probably keane and berby. maybe we'll buy a left wing by then too.
note no ziegler tonight either.

stevenage are non-league
sounds as if the keeper had the game of his life so i can forgive the fact we didnt win by at least 5, any other night i think it would have been a record score.
why would it need to be changed to 4-4-2 for the inter game? instead of the players just keeping their positions warm the 1st team should play in the formation that will be 1st choice, and changed during the game if need be.
sounds as if defoe is on fire and its important he is kept playing as he is a confidence striker, if he doesnt have that he can be quite ineffective.
i would play this team against inter:
robbo
ghaly
king
dawson
ekotto
jenas
carrick
zokora
lennon
defoe
berbatov
pure class!

ghaly is not a RB, today Tainio played as a full-back
Maybe Lee should play RB vs Inter

i know he isnt a rb usually but he seems to be doing an alrite job when he plays there, lee is an option just to see how he actually plays on his favoured side

i agree about defoe but you have to remember keane missed two games, the others who played in the world cup will need a game badly. be good to watch zokora tho. I see SSN have shown tonight's goals already. Typical!

I would refuse to play Carrick until his future is sorted. Arsehole.

i like the idea of stringing united out so they have to make a call. i don't think it's worth giving him a new contract yet, he's still got much to prove for me, especially going forward. If he has another good year fair enough. But i suspect that as he hasn't denied anything and we've bought zokora, that he will go. bring on the hudds.

do not like much Carrick, but he is an important player. We should not underestimate his role for our good performance last season. Zokora is very good indeed, technically better than Carrick, but it is not clear how long he will adjust to the EPL.

i think it would be a massive loss to lose carrick, i wouldnt say the team is built around him but his range of passing with both feet is immense and that creates the oppurtunities for lennon, keane, defoe to make the runs they do.
i dont think you could name a player with a better range of passing in the premiership apart from the exception of gerrard who is just unbelievable.
and i wouldnt start getting too excited about zokora yet, im sure he is a great player and another great bit of buisness by the board but come on, how many of you have seen him play more than say...10 games? we have all heard he is class but the most you would have seen of him was the world cup and the occasional appearance on the shoddy channel 4 french league programme

Couldn't give a **** if he goes, just annoyed he's taken this long to let us know about it, its been like 6 weeks. thats 6 weeks of wages we could have saved by sortin his transfer out sooner.

Insist on having Richardson as part exchange in any deal.

No, they're both WORSE. Teams like United piss me off no end, they think they can take the piss by signing your best players and then giving you cast-offs in some sort of good-will gesture. I'd just tell them to **** off and stop wasting me time. Oh, and while I'm at it I'd tell Fergie it was about time he ****ed off too....

my sentiments itsactly, only i was being polite. It really is annoying how they always try and nick our best players, but i tell you what, if you compare our team player for player with theres minus van nistelrooy who is leaving there aint much in it at all!!

I'd rather have Defoe than RVN. Same for Keane, and Berbatov.
No doubting the horse's ability but i hate him. really.

Wasn't Fergie going to retire about 10 years ago!?
Ok, slight exaggeration, but if you say you're going to leave and change your mind, generally you don't hang on for another entire generation!

They stopped winning everything and i'm guessing he was expecting to go out in a blaze of victorious glory. So he's just been carrying on in the hopes that they might return to to past glory. Pity that there's no chance of that anymore, now he's just hanging around like a wet fart.

In fact I don't mind at all if we just get 5 million if we can have Richardson as well for Carrick as I see a lot of potential in him developing into a top class left winger.

Glad, you're not the manager, else Carrick would be gone by now! :p
**** the bastards, if they want our top players then we can take them for all they have!
Oh, and £12M is being quoted for Defoe??? You're having a laugh, I'd expect the bidding to START at £15M. Last season has taken a bit off his value, but expect him to show his REAL value this year.

He's lost the plot if he thinks he can get Defoe for anything less than 20 million.

Looks like Viera is going to Inter and their not going to get Torres either. I think this will mean some big offers from ManU for Defoe and Carrick. As you know I don't rate Defoe, (unless he seriously comes on), so I would not be unhappy with letting him go. And I think it would be good business to let Carrick go for 15 mil too, we've got to blood the Hud (that rhymes) some time, if he's not ready Zokora can play deeper until then.
I wouldn't sell Defoe though unless he knows he has somebody better coming in. And I'd like to see us sign another fourth striker even, if we can.
Chinaman
26th July 2006, 03:18 PM
As I've said all the while, if we can get Babel as first choice LW, he can also double up as 4th striker.
JJ
26th July 2006, 04:43 PM
Keep Defoe, sell Carrick. If we are going to play more of a 4-3-3, then Zokora takes Carricks place. I'm bored of the speculation and him making absolutely no effort to show where his allegiance lies.

i don't think defoe would fit in at manyoo, rooney plays that drop off role. i rate defoe highly but if we got over 20mill i'd replace him with lua lua, who's much the same kind of player. i think we'll get lua lua as our fourth striker anyway and i'd be well happy with that.
