Our most improved player last season in my eyes.

Is anyone else happy for him to carry on at first choice left back?

I for one am, he was so solid last season and his crossing is superb in my opinion.

Plus he has quality hair.

I wish he was a couple of years older, so he could show Bale the ropes and teach him how to position himself better when defending. Obviously he could do that now but maybe not to as much of an effect as it could have been. I'd say play him in away matches and at home to the big four and play Bale in the rest of the matches...but this isn't football manager.

It certainly isn't.

I can just see Bale being a wasted talent to be honest. I hope not but he has really gone backwards lately.

Totally agree mate, remember how he started out for us? The freekick against Arsenal comes to mind but also his general play, now he can't get a game because of that bloody curse of his!

Yep. He was fantastic. Also the goals against Boro and Fulham we're top drawer.

It seems since he picked up that injury at the geordies he just couldn't regain form.

Thank the lord for the resurgence of Ekotto!

he's only got himself to blame if he is

the balls in his court he needs to get his act together he's got all the talent in the world and needs to step up and take his chance when it comes like Lennon did back in the day

I'm really hoping that no news is good news re Ekotto wanting to leave and go back to France. There was a lot of that talk a few months ago, but we've heard less than nothing about him since the season ended, so fingers crossed he'll stay.

supposedly he was misquoted in a interview were he said something along the lines of liking to go back and finish his career with PSG or one day play for them or something like that and abunch of hacks took that as him wanting to leave

I thought BAE had a really good season , and I would keep him
as our first choice LB.

Benny at LB, Modric cutting in from LW, and Bale in the middle with Palacios.

Cheers.

Bale In The Middle? Thats a strange one.

There was someone earlier last season that made a comparrison of Barry's career and how it could work that way for Bale. Barry started as left-back and sometimes LM? Slowly became a better reader of the game, physically got stronger and ended up in the centre. Bale has similar attributes, needs to work a great deal on his positional sense and clearly his confidence, then it could work out.

BAE should start as LB, I can not think of a player in recent years that had become so radically transformed. He has earned his place for the start of this season.

Yeah I can see the comparisons with Barry.

I'll get on the blower to 'Arry now and get him to try it our in pre-season.
