View Full Version : We know now that Duff wasn't Jol/Levy's fault...

Newcastle say they got Duff for 5 mil, which makes it all the more depressing.

That rules out one possible conclusion: It is obviously not anything to do with spurs being unwilling to pay 10 million for him.

Now, it is down to two factors. Chelsea wouldn't sell him to Spurs/ Liverpool or he's a greedy little ****er.

But remember Chelsea said that they turned down a 5 or 7 mil bid from Spurs, because it was too low. Hmm... perhaps they said to Newcastle we'll offload him to you for half our asking price so you can afford his wages, because we'd rather him go to you than any of our real rivals.

Just a thought that occured to me. Could this be another example of how Chelsea are cocking up football, because they can throw money at everything. Hell, are Chelsea playing half his wages outright aswell?

It was simply down to the player, it could be greed but I think it was that he wanted to move from London. We were his 3rd choice so good riddance to him, we don't want half arsed players at the Lane!!

Well, we don't know yet do we? I can't see why he'd want to leave London for Newcastle, for any reason. Unless he wants a really quiet home or something, but when people said that about him staying at Blackburn he said that was nonsense. Which leads me to believe the two possible conclusions I have might be right on the mark.

Do not care why he went to Newcastle, as I've said before I did not want to sign him.

yeh we knew it wasnt MJs fault anyway, if he'd wanted him totally he'd have got him. MJs idea of wanting a player totally is much different to Roeders desperation.
I never wanted him either

I think Jolly wanted him, but wasn't willing to pay inflated wages. And he was correct not to. But that's if he got to talk to him at all. Don't underestimate Mourinho's scumminess and Roman's dirty cavern of wealth.

Given and Carr must have told him that he'll get tonnes of wages and bonuses for winning their training sessions of; "The Weakest Link" - With Roeder (Anne Robinson) in charge...

According to the Evening Standard,it was £5million +£70,000 a week + a large lump sum to take account of him losing out as he was a free agent from the end of this season reputed to be another £2million.I do love the report that Levy said he would match the fee etc but wanted Chelski to pay the difference between our top earner & £70000 a week.Hee Hee!

Well... we know now that it wasn't Chelski's fault either. Duff has some misguided loyalty to Chelsea. Seems if you play for any of the gazillion London clubs it would be disrespectful to join another.

That only applies to your Arsenal and Spurs Duff, you goon. And though I think you're telling the truth, I'll bet it is just an after justification (even maybe to yourself) of filthy greed.

Have a nice time being a wasted diamond wallowing in mediocrity, you gammon.

This news also totally explains Jol's comments. I should have never doubted him, what a brilliant man. But you have to ask the question no matter who it is, a cock up is a cock up. This one however was all Duff.

Case closed. I'm so over it now. **** Duff and **** the toon.

Hope he still produces for Ireland though, he's important to us.

Maybe it's a way of getting as much as possible for hinself. After 1 year, he'll grumble that the Toons are not getting anywhere and he wants to go a team going somewhere. Sparks of another transfer tug-of-war and he pockets another cut of the transfer fee.
