Mark my words, we will regret it if we sell Darren Bent, Given a run in any team in the prem, he will score goals. He could do some serious damage for Sunderland next year, 20 goals plus i am thinking.
Never been given a fair crack of the whip with us, in and out of the team since he came to us.
Hopefully though Arry has someone lined up to come in, Who Knows, Promises to be an unteresting month or so ahead!!!

I agree! Very under estimated IMO. He done fukkin well considering the chances we gave him! Anyone that thinks he's shit is a mug i reckon.
May not fit the system but still as good as most!

and how many times has he done that before????? oh yeah never that's right
he brings absolutely nothing to the team other than 1 goal every 3 games apart from that we may aswell be playing with 10 men

he is a good player in the right system. running onto through balls he looks the buisness but as soon as he is asked to hold the ball up he starts to look very suspect. will score goals wherever he gos and i would be happy if we kept hold of him.

1 dimensional..........forces us to play in a 1 dimensional style.
Constantly times his runs too early.
Goal hanger who needs 500 thru balls to score 5 goals.
Very rarely shows any flare or jawdropping skill.
Has the first touch of a horses back leg.
But (and heres the rub) he does score goals!!!!!!
Thing is, isnt that like owning a Morris Minor
Its not pretty, it does 0-60 in three months, sounds like a 50cc outboard motor and drives like a mining cart.
But it does get you from A to B
You wouldnt drive a Morris Minor if you had the cash for a decent motor so why accept Bent when we can have Huntelaar.
If he goes .........it has to be because we have an improvement lined up.
Someone who can score the same amount of goals but has all the other boxes ticked.

And Keane?
Keane brings far more to a team than Bent but if Keane doesn't get his act together he needs to be dropped to. Our attack was toothless last season hence WHL going from the ground with the most goals to the ground with the least but Keano was part of that ground with the most goals season when he hit 23. Pav and Defoe showed the makings of a very good partnership last season in the few games they got together I wouldn't be against them starting the season uptop but we need another striker who's good in the air and with his back to goal.

That's the important thing it's all about who we're bringing in to replace him

Well fair enough! At least you see that too!
I still think Bent can be a good back up and better that Jones.

From my point of view I see it Defoe vs Bent as them two as a pairing would never work. For me Defoe is a much better option than Bent so if we can sell him and sign a stronger more aggressive forward then great business in my eyes, I just dont see where Bent will fit into our style of play and its obvious Redknapp isnt a big fan of his take the cash whilst his value is still reasonably high.

that's debatable especially for our squad because Jones strong points are options we're currently missing upfront were as Defoe and Pav can basically do what Bent does and alittle bit more

Bent is a very good player, and I just know that we will sell him, he will score loads, and everyone will suddenly say "Why the f*ck did Spurs sell him, what muppets." :cursing: He's a great goalscorer, we've given him f*ck all to go on, and even less than that in the places that he wants the ball, and yet he's still banged them in. He's just never going to fit in fully at Spurs unfortunately, he won't be able to fulfill his potential unless he's playing for a team who plays the way he needs them to.

I dont know about anyone else but I dont want to pay through my arse every year to see that style of football.
I want flare, invention, creativity, incredible ...nay sublime skills from a striker.
Someone who can mix it up a bit, hold the ball up better, whip past a player or three (ok two will do)
Its what we are used to .....isnt it?

No you didn't, gus is referring to strikers. You brought up that point in reference to the possibility of signing Cattermole.

Like most here, I like Bent but as so many have pointed out, unless we change our system it will never happen for him here. He plays one way and one way only, I can't recall a game when I thought he really linked up well with his striking partner.
He needs to adapt his game if he ever want's to achieve anything with us.
I can't see that happening nor can I ever see us ever building a system around him. If he leaves I wish him luck but will have no regrets.
