Just saw him in Gray's Inn having a coffee alone. Went over and shook his hand. A legend. Smiled and said thanks, pleased to be recognised.
Just so annoyed I didn't think to get a photo with him but it happened so fast and I just don't like to bother people.

Would love to meet him. Don't think there's a baller who comes across any better.

My workmate told me to go back and get a picture, but I just thought that'd be weird. But it was great to shake a spurs legends hand.
Would love to meet him. Don't think there's a baller who comes across any better.

One of THFC's greatest players IMO, and my favourite of all time.

Back in 1987 I went to watch them train at Chesthunt when on a football course and he was the only one who waited for all the kids and fans to have photos with him whilst Hoddle et al done a runner....
Absolute top man...Also remember one of the shop staff telling me that everytime Sugar ordered a get together for Christmas gigs, Mabbs was the only one who mingled with the other staff of the club whilst all the other players stuck to there own.

Top fella, great centre back.
Once let me have one of his "special" diabetic cokes when in the players lounge (I was about 10 before anyone rips on my choice of drink).

He is a true gentleman, he used to live accross the road to a very good friend of mine when I was a kid. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he always made time to have a chat about Spurs and football in general. His work in the game after his retirement is inspirational.

I remember going to the Junior Spurs xmas party asa nipper back in the early nineties and Erik Thorsvedt and Gary Mabbutt where there and Gary Mabbutt was amazing and became an instant hero to me.
Also when my mum rang the ticket office once, Mabbsy actually answered the phone. Wouldn't see the modern day players pitching in like that.
One word for Mabbutt - LEGEND!
