Yet still scoring goals - explain if you can.

Didn't they say Henry was finished?

How about RVN? Oh shit, even we're after him now!

This is funny.

At the start of the season it was "he's scoring for fun why ain't he in the England squad", at the end it was "he's not scored in 8 he should retire".

Laughable to say the least.

he couldnt even get in a relegated newcastle team behind viduka - explain that one
and owen relied on pace which has now completely gone - granted he mikght get 10 goals a season but i cant see saf buying him - i just hope h stays well clear

I think he would be a great signing, Put balls in the box and he will score, Problem with Newcastle is there was no one good enough to feed him, He would do some serious damage at United!
I would love it if Arry went in for him myself.

He scored three headed goals early on in the season, which suggests he can round his game.

He couldn't get in the team because they didn't know what to do with him. He didn't score in 8 matches, they couldn't give him the service.

Unlike Bent and Pavlyuchenko - can you remember a clear cut chance that Owen missed last year? Just doesn't happen. Unlike Bent and Pavluchenko, £16.5million and £15million acquisitions respectively, as opposed to Owen who doesn't do it and is rounding his game, on a free.

I know who I'd rather.

Latest on RVN is that he is off to Lyon.

i know who id rather and that would be bent or pav - we need a physical presence up top to hold the ball up and win headers - theres no way you could play owen and defoe and defoe is at least twice the player owen is.defoe will be our main goalscorer next season all we need is someone for him to feed off -personally id love owen to go to utd as i think hes well past his bed - that cappello aint silly either he knows it as well

Indeed, as for our team you're right, Owen wouldn't fit in with the squad, and he's not what we need. I was more talking in goalscoring terms, taking chances, etc.

He'd be a perfect signing for United though.

We need someone up top who can do the things you mention, but unfortunately that special someone is neither Bent nor Pav.

heard this rumour yesterday and it apears it is definately gonna happen. i think its a decent move by old whiskey nose to be honest. hes gonna get a proven goalscorer for free, with relatively low wages that will be bumped up with incentives. like spur said, he doesnt miss many clear chances and i would fancy him for 15 goals at least next season. owen was crap last year cos newcastle were absolutely awful in midfield and just didnt create anything and they just humped long, high stuff into the area in desperation and thats why he was dropped for martins and fat arse. would be nice to see a fit michael owen enjoying his footy again.

If he goes United, I'd have money on him being top scorer. If he keeps fit then there's nothing to worry about.

Four words for the doubters, two in particular stand out as reformation personified: Jonathon King Ledley Woodgate. Would you swap those two for anyone else? Betcha most answers would be no, and yet we're talking about the new Paul McGrath and someone who was injured for near on 3 consecutive years at the very least.

A henrik larsson type signing. I dont think he'll be the main striker because I think berbatov and rooney will be first choice.

I think man u will line up

berba rooney

valencia carrick scholes park

first game of the season.

Larsson was a very good signing for United, even though he was only there for like 6 games.
