Himself and palacios would dominate and win any midfield battle but he looks like a bit of a loose cannon. Im all for it as he would provide a great shield for the back four and allow palacios to get forward aswell.

I would have no concerns over this guy adapting to English football, that's for sure. The youtube clips obviously pick out his more aggressive moments, the stats say only 4 red cards in 191 appearances, hardly disasterous for an aggressive DM (surely Mascherano has a similar stat?).
My only concern would be that with him and Wilson in the side we wouldn't be very 'Tottenham' but would we win games? Hell yeah, especially with creative players on both wings and up front.

We've got Palacios. Surely we don't need 2 defensive midfielders?

Imo lennon, modric, and two strikers is all the firepower we need to break down teams. Pal and Cana would tackle anything that moves and give us a platform to attack. Especially when we are away from home we have a soft spine cana is just what we need.

We would need 2 fantastic cover players for him and Wilson, because either is liable to get himself sent off at any time.
Looks class though, and I don't think we're in any position to turn down class.

Especially as arsenal and liverpool are after him he would be a major coup imo.

He could definitely be wort a punt..I like players who give a shit, wouldn't take him long winning over the Tottenham faifthfull.
As Keanoldinho said 'lock down the midfield'...this guy and Palacios would do that no probs!! Our quality will come from wide positions in Modric and Lennon.
Lock it down I say .....:001_smile:

HAHA what a looney would love him here just to defend a lead!
4 red cards however u missed the fact that he also had 62 yellow cards in 191 games, Now most players would be proud of that in their career!!
My only concern is that he could end a premiership footballers career with some of the challenges i just saw!!

I think this is just speculation. Just googled and it seems the british press have picked it up before the french.
Just a word of caution usually when you have 2 central midfielders one has to be a playmaker type e.g. alonso and petit when partnered with viera.
I'm not against 2 hard guys that make like tackling and its a dying skill but you need to play.
Also late tackles shouldnt be applauded as showing courage, strength, passion or however else you want to describe it. Sure we'd lose our soft touch tag but you also need players that can take control of a football and pass it to the more gifted players in dangerous positions. What you dont want is a cm duo who struggle to get the ball to the danger men.

some of these tackles are fair but others he is late on and commits a proffessional foul taking out the player. Palacios already does that for us. The best players read the game and close down space. Arriving late and taking out a player isnt courage it shows poor reading most of the time.
I've watched cana twice on setanta and he looked a very similar player to palacios. After we signed palacios I think an alonso type is the sort we should be going after. I think granero is that man.
I would take him because I think he is better than JJ but thats only based on the 2 apperances I've seen this season.

Looks like a complete nutter there  Depending on the price might be worth a go though, he's not just about the wild aggression, like Palacios he's also a very good player.

Daily Telegraph – Tottenham could make a move for Lorik Cana after the Kosovo-born Albanian international midfielder was told he can leave Marseille. Cana, the Marseille captain, has been linked with Tottenham, having alerted Arsenal to his talents earlier in his career. Jose Anigo, Marseille's sporting director, said: "It's not that he's shown his desire to leave. It's simply that it's been four years that Lorik has been here and he has the right to want to experience other things. Today we're open to his transfer, if something happens we'll listen. Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp's hopes of signing Newcastle player Sebastien Bassong appear to have diminished following reports that the defender has pulled out of talks over wage demands.

I really don't fancy this guy for us at all. He's the sort of player I hate; first to recklessly dive in studs up and snap someones leg, and the first to fall to the floor in feigned agony. He would miss too many games through suspension, and give us a notorious reputation because of his behaviour in the same vein as Robbie Savage, only amped.
Don't like him.
