Fergie is coming out with statements about he put bids for carrick so he can unsettle the lad. It pisses me off when managers have to go that low and try and unsettle a player and a club as a whole all because he isnt getting his way!
As a spurs fan i want to see carrick and defoe to remain so we can improve and maybe in a few years challenge the likes of chelsea and manure!

If we can hang on to Carrick and Defoe we can challenge Man Utd THIS YEAR .

To do that i still think we need to sort out RB, LM and get us a 4th striker.

I'm not too concerned about the 4th striker as I think Barney can do a job for us or perhaps the Czech kid could step up for the domestic cup games at least. I do have an ever growing concern however about the LW position. We desperately need some left sided depth.
I think Salty has been unfairly targeted & think he had a pretty solid year for his first Premiership season. He made a few mistakes & when you play at the back these errors are often highlighted by the opposition scoring a goal.

Actually i'm not too concerned about us needing to buy any players... I know it would be ideal to get a left winger and a right back, but I think we have players who can do a decent job in those positions....
In right back I think that Ifill may could be a major suprise and get his breakthrough this season.. And maybe we could play routers there or Ghaly??
In the left wing we could play Lennon with JJ on the right... Or play routers or Ziegler.. Or just stick with a more central left wing like Davids or Tainio...

If you referring to the one on Spursweb, I agree that Fergie was a bit out of order 'enquiring' before the World Cup, however Carrick may of been completely oblivious to it. I'm sure a lot of players don't read the papers or web pages while preparing for the tourney.
If we had made a cheeky bid/enquiry for a player that MAY of had a blinding tournemant over the following month, before their value rose, we would all be going on about what masterminds Commoli and Jol are. We kind did that with Zokora, although he was ready to leave.

Fergie as been tapping up players for years, the difference now is that Utd are no longer the top team and look like they will not be for years, IF Carrick moves to them ( and I still say he won't) it will be a downward step for him.

I must say I don't agree with that Man Utd would be a downward step. Man Utd will always be at the top, or near the top, they always have been, and always will be.
But I can see where your coming from. And I hope your right. And hopefully starting from this season, we will be giving them, Liverpool and the scum, a good run for their money.
