Just read on skysports.com that Carlos Tevez is currently considering deals from 3 different clubs- City, Chelsea and an unnamed club. Is it wrong for me to think that this unnamed club might be Tottenham? I read some months ago that we were interested. I dont even think that we need a player like Tevez but I would still be very happy if we were in the running for his signature.

real or inter probably.

As much as it'd be great, I think that is beyond the realms of possibility.

Only slightly though...!

As if! With the amount City will be offering he would just laugh at our offer. That isn't pessimistic, it's realistic.

Nah, we're not going to be in for Tevez. Not what we need. If Bent and/or Pav go then it's going to be a big target man we'll need.

Yeah,'cos we really need another striker under 5 foot 9... In all seriousness, Tevez wouldn't consider joining us in a million years, for starters he's going to want £100k per week, that's around £30k short of what we can offer....

God I hope not, the Paul Dickov of Argentinian football. Really is vastly overrated, his work rate and technique are excellent, the rest of his game is meh.

i like him , and would be happy to see him at the lane , but for a price of 25m , i think that number has been banded about ,and at 100k per week then he is overrated and we shouldnt get involved

I'd value him at £20m.

I think the unnamed club would be Liverpool. His agent has said that he will definitely stay in the Premiership, so that rules out Réal or Inter. He is wildly overrated, I don't want him at all, let alone for the ridiculous price that United offered.

He has categorically stated that he wouldn't join the bindippers out of repsect for United fans (two mutual exclusive phrases there). It'll be Chelsea, Citeh and probably on or t'other of the two Spanish giants.

But if he wasn't willing to join Liverpool then why would he be willing to join City? I heard Joorabchian on the radio the other day, he said Tevez's next team would definitely be in England...

City aren't trophy rivals in the way Liverpool are. The fans would still be on his side if he signed for City but might take a different attitude were he to join Liverpool, especially as United have just equalled Liverpool's 18 titles.

Man Utd and Man City are rivals, but Man Utd and Liverpool despise each other. I'd forgotten about him saying that.

I can't think of anyone who can justify splash £25m on him (us included).

Newcastle anyone?

I can only see him as a city player.

United have already met the asking price (25 mill), Carlos is all about the money, the general consensus from what I've picked form the Die-hards is that he is a complete mercenary, there is only one destination, City.

He's quite unlike most professional footballers then, or anyone else that seeks to maximise their earnings.

I know you don't like to talk about the work you do for charity Shuggie, nor the earnings you've foregone due to supporting worthy causes, so I won't embarrass you by mentioning either.

You are right, I do not like to talk about it. My charity work is second nature to me, I seek no praise. Without it though, how would we be able to pay for those trips to Bournemouth each year, that you so richly deserve and enjoy. :tongue_smilie:

It's rewards vastly out-weigh any praise.

I have no problem with people maximizing their earnings. Do you not agree though that his behavior over the last few months leans towards that of a primadonna ?

Man U may have met the asking price (eventually), and while money maybe a motivating factor...you cant really blame him......If this was Rooney his contract would have been signed, sealed and sorted 6 months ago....They havent treated him with much respect at all. Man U knew exactly what they were doing.

After agreeing a fee 2 years ago and then to come out and say that he isnt worth it.....well that cant put much faith in the player IMO.

Actually, on reflection I was a little rash on my assessment of him (as pointed out by Earl too). I would say that the ownership of him and Jorbayitchan or whatever his name is, was a large factor. Had that party not been involved I'm positive he would have been treated differently.

Yeah, i think that too, Kia has had a real detrimental effect on Tevez, i think the advice given to him by Kia (for all the wrong reasons) may also have contributed in him saying no to Man U as Kia will now prolly get a bigger slice of the financial pie if he goes to Citeh or Chelsea.

No, rejection of United is based on being taken for granted, and being treated as very disposable in his eyes. If City offer higher wages than Kia will get a bigger payout.

No, you didn't. You attributed Kia's influence to Tevez rejecting United, whereas I said it was due to Tevez's feelings about being taken for granted by United. Kia only benefits if City pay higher wages, but that is unlikely to be Tevez's motivation in deciding his future.
