I think thats a fair assumption. Something tells me that Sparky will have got City to gel abit better and start firing on all cylinders away from home. Chelsea will have a mare of a start, but claw back to finish 4th. Theres alot of Gooners that want-away at the moment, quite frankly I think they've all got their heads turned towards the 'el Classico teams.

I honestly believe Liverpool will win it if they can keep Torres fit for most of the season. Chelsea's squad is seriously ageing. Lampard, Drogba, Ballack, Carvalho, Deco...are all into their thirties.

No matter what anyone says Man United will be weaker come the start of the season no matter who they bring in. Ronaldo's goal threat will be missed big time. Not saying they wont have a good season but Liverpool will have the edge for me if Torres can stay fit for the majority of the season. All it would take is for Rooney to be out for some time and suddenly Man U are very beatable - amongst the top 6 sides anyway. I am sure they will make a big signing but Ribbery aint Ronaldo, nor is Valencia - even though they are undoubtedly talented.

Man City will pip Arsenal to fourth. Barry is an excellent signing for City who will bring much needed experience and stability to the side and thats only their first signing of many. A few more astute signings and City will be a very formidable outfit.

We could have an outside chance of knicking fourth but it would take some genius in the transfer market and with new recruits hitting the ground running. My bet is 6th for us though.

Everton will have another consistent season but wont have enough funds to strengthen to push on that bit.

Villa I see just finishing in the top half. Simple really, they have lost two of their best three players...in Barry and Laursen (Young being their other). Laursen being out played a huge part in their fall from grace. Again unless they call put off some very tasty transfers I see them dropping down the order a bit.

I think Sunderland will do well. I like Bruce and think he's a very decent manager. With more resources at his disposal I only see him doing good thngs at Sunderland.

Fulham will struggle a bit due to more games in the Europa League and only having a small squad. Dont think they will be involved in a relegation battle though.

Burnley will be the side that stay up out of the three newbies. Coyle looks like a decent manager and Burnley play some nice stuff and look quite tenacious as well.

Stoke will consolidate their position whilst Wigan won't do badly either under their new manager.

Blackburn and Bolton to flirt with relegation all season - only to just stay up.

Spur the last time you told me something wouldn't happen it did, infactt it surpassed it.

Before we played Hull I predicted we would generate a furter 18 points and finish on 43 points...you told me not a chance (little did I expect 51!)...:001_smile: :001_smile:

Liverpool are still my tip.

Top six:

Liverpool
Manure
Chelsea
Everton
Fulham
Spurs

I think Liverpool are in a prime position to take the reigns and usurp Man Utd, who will fail to replace Ronaldo's goals which have proven so decisive these last 2 seasons. I reckon Fulham could be the suprise package this year again and do even better. I think City will fail to measure up under the pressure and finish 7th or 8th

Liverpool dont need to spend as much as United, they have to replace the best player in the World (or one of them)

A bit of tweaking and keeping Torres fit will see them contend massively.

I'd expect Wigan to struggle and finish a lot lower than 13th. Not only will they have a new manager from the Championship, but they wll also have lost Heskey, Palacios, Valencia and Zaki from last season's team, plus Bruce might be in for others like Cattermole and Figueroa. Got to be bottom 6 at least.

I can't see Villa competing for 5th again for a long time, they should at least be top 9 but they will struggle without the swag of Barry. Also they could lose A Young which means they will lose their two most influecial players but they could make up with it if they sign Bentley and a few others.

Wigan looks like this seasons Rovers I can see them being far to open which won't suit them and as EW has stated they will also lose key players.

Man Utd they won't replace C Ronaldo this season and will not be able to replace his goals/assists either. Rooney if kept fit could have a fabulous season as fergie may stick him upfront in a 442. They will struggle to win the league and I will go as far to say they won't win the league.

Not sure with us but we should make europe.

At least 1 team beginning with 'B' will go down. Birmingham I hope. Blackburn and Bolton should be safe and it will be close with Burnley.

I can't see Villa competing for Europa next season. They were bad enough at the end of this season, and now they have no Barry to boot. And possibly Young will follow him. I think they had a Hull-esque season to a lesser extent. At first, they were flying, everything was fresh and no one knew how to deal with them. But eventually they got worked out, teams just sat back and frustrated the hell out of them rather than going forward and being hit on the break. The likes of Agbonlahor fell away badly, and they lost a lot of confidence which was a big part of what they were about earlier on in the season - a young team playing with confidence and flair. Heskey was a mistake too - Carew is just a better version of Heskey, he was only a few weeks away from coming back from injury, and when Heskey arrived they ditched 4-3-3, which I thought was the best way for them.

MoN is very good in some ways but he's not brilliant and it's very straightforward how he operates. That's good in many ways but in other ways it's too simplistic.

End of the day his teams will always be enthusiastic, confident, know their jobs, but he buys too many average players thinking they are better than they are and the football is good but basic and easy to work out after a while.

I'm totally against capital punishment, normally a good hard spanking will suffice. My years of being a headmaster in a girls school have shown be how effective that is, it's not very effective but has given me a great many hours of pleasure.

Much too early for you, my friend, much like the mountain bear that unexpectedly awakens in January. I understand it's Paddy Power that advertises a bet on league finishes from October as a "Choda League Bet". :001_tongue:

This is even earlier than the one I started last year, at least mine was in mid-July I think.

After my fiasco last year, I will wait a few weeks at least. One thing I did get right though was Keagan and Curbishley gone pretty quickly.

Everyone is going on about replacing Ronaldo, one thing I will predict is that it will not be a factor, Fergie will either get someone fantastic in or it is going to be the year of Rooney & Berbatov.

pool were not too far away last season , i expect them to not throw away as many points on draws as last season , if they keep mascharno (spe ) and torres stays fit then can see them pipping a slightly weaker utd .
as for us , well i can really see the arse slipping out of the top 4 and theoretically we have a better squad than the other contenders barring obviously maybe city when all the transfers are done , so hey ho why not .
as for the bottom half well who knows , hull go down and any 2 out of 9 or 10 go with them .

lol...look at the shambles of Liverpool this season...way off is an understatement :santaclaus:

But who cares about the what the rest are doing! Most of us didn't think Spurs would do this well, so happy days!

But in my defence, and its a strong one, I went for Liverpool before they sold Alonso to Madrid and thats key.

If you look at the predictions thread, in early August - done by Spur, I went for Chelsea, followed by United.

That will teach me for being over zealous and starting off threads too early!!
