West Ham, support mainly by toothless East End/Romford rednecks and white van men.
Chelsea obviously, because they are nouveau riche pricks and again supported by West London versions of Hammers fans, and reamin the only pack of fans to have started on me and my lot on a Saturday in London for no good reason apart from the fact we were in colours, had won that day and they hadn't. Cromagnon men the lot of them.

Cannot stand the fake fictitious club that is Chelsea. They're messing up european club football. An endless tranfer budget and wage structure is not a real club. Real clubs have to balance the books. Patrons are one thing, a Tsar is quite another. And Mourinho as an individual is a scumbag... how ungracious can a person be.
Don't like Arsenal... for being Arsenal... but can't stand their one-eyed behaviour and attitude. Such a bad attitude... so unsporting.

i've gotten over the chelsea hatred, now things have started to go a bit pear shaped and hardly anyone gets a game. I quite liked west ham until their cocky jibes about them beating us fair and square in the last game. I hate the scum. And all the boring teams that you don't want to play. My current favourite is bolton. I hate them and big sam for their big headed attitude to luckily doing us at their place. Bolton for me. lets hope we lay that ghost to rest in the first game.

I don't think I need to say any more, this encapsulates my feeling exactly, although I would say the goons first and foremost followed very closely by Chelski. Just one question, do Man U actually count as a club team or are they the national side for British glory followers?

20th July 2006, 05:08 PM
For me, outside of the Ar$£n@l, it would have to be Man USA for me, and here are my reasons...
Ever since I started following football, they have been the "Glory" team.
They've nicked our song and made it become associated with them.
They have (well had, this one applies more to Ch£l$ki these days) what I call the "Yankee complex", that is, to buy every decent player they can, just because they can afford them, even though they know they can't play every one of them.
Their supporters NEVER come from their home city.
If that's not enough, than I'm sure I can think of more for you ;)

It has to be Man-Utd, I lived there for a while and did not see many supporters living there untill they started winning then they were everywhere. On match days there were more coaches in the car park from London and places south then locals. Then it would be Bolton.

Okay, putting on my tin hat before I say this: I like West Ham. What's the point in hating them? Channel your hatred more productively to people who deserve it... like Arsenal and Chelsea.
Pardew, I think, talks a lot of sense and he'd have postponed our game last season so long as it didn't interfere with the cup final. I think that was stand-up behaviour, which you'd never in a million years get from Wenger. I've already stated what I think of Chelsea.
And West Ham play good football, always, like us. Don't see why you hate them so much. Are their fans scummers or something. Did you get bet in an east end pub for supporting spurs?
I'm in Ireland so I don't always see everything that goes on over there. My only natural dislike is for Arsenal. They are the only club who even if they conducted themselves the way we do I would still harbour a grudge for.

As I have probably indicated on these pages in the past, I have a slightly irrational dislike of NUFC. Other than that, Liverpool annoy me royally mainly due their over-sentimentalised support who never fail to do a good impression of a bunch of brain-dead thugs. And the fact that they have got JUST as many supporters who have no connection with the city as Utd do. I'm sure anyone my age (27) remembers a massive quotient of plastic scousres developing at junior school.
Up until this season, I had nothing against West Ham beyond a natural and affable rivallry, but seeing as it is evident they all hate us with a hitherto unknown degree of vitriol I am happy to reciprocate their desire for mutual dislike. Shame really, as my mum (who has been a hammer for forty years) says in her day there was no love lost between us and them but we all agreed on the common, Islington dwelling enemy. Funily enough, when you talk to genuine, non-nazi Chelsea fans (I know, they are few and far between) they say a similar thing. My mate at work has been watching Chelsea home and away since the seventies and doesn't get into the Tottenham rivallry thing because he is certain it's entirely down to anti-semitism. Hates Arsenal though...
Other than that (and apat from the obvious) I am fairly easy going with other teams, although if Man City, Leeds Utd, Blackburn Rovers or Middlesborough ceased to exist I wouldn't be quick to shed a tear...

To be honest, we never get that great a response from fans when we go on our travels. True fans of the game have a respect for us, but my experience as a travelling Spurs fan is not one of a great shared love.
But who cares? Few clubs with a genuine history and a vocal fanbase attract universal adoration..
Having said that, I think alot of neutrals are really liking our attempts to break into the top-five so maybe a sea-change in attitudes is coming..

Yea, I'm over in Ireland so I'm probably wrong about that. There just seem to be so many fans (fourth highest fanbase in England) for a club that has suffered for so long.
I think some people see us like an alcholic or something. A deeply complex club, with huge potential, who has perenially shoots itself in the foot. As you say though the club is finally regaining its true status as a huge football club.
I think it is also, as you said, that spurs fans are different to other fans. We're more idealistic and vocal. Perhaps its that added to the underachievement (most likely). We still see ourselves as a huge club, but other people don't. Maybe we're seen as a middle class club... maybe its the Jewish thing... or maybe you're just a bit paranoid. Don't all away fans get abuse?

illogical but i have never liked teams that begin with W , so west ham , wolves , wrexham i just cant stand , and even as much as i tried to like wigan and their plucky approach still that letter looms at the front . (before you welsh guys have a pop , i married a welsh woman , and am spending 3 day at rosselli (sp) next week )
aside from that i used to hate liverpool , not only were they the dominant force in the 70s and 80 s when i was growing up , with the subsequent non scouse hanger ons , their style of football reminded me of the steve davies approach to snooker , great but boring side grinding teams into submission before winning 1-0 , and this wasnt what i wanted from football and was so different from spurs .

Not sure I could despise anything more than I despise the Arse, but I am sick to death of Man Utd, especially the practically senile Ferguson now, who just arbitrarily decides to have a strop over his best players cos he's an old grump. I knew he'd want to keep Ron-dildo after his antics because he'd have enjoyed seeing England (and Eriksson) fail the way they did. I'd like to make a prediction that Rooney does have a falling out with the Lady boy and as a result becomes the next player to be alienated by Ferguson and forced out to a Foreign club!
Also, I have a problem with the pointless club that is Villa, who'd better go down this year, and Bolton with they're whinging manager.

as well as those 2 players, Duff may want to be around to aid the progression of young Terry Dixon and people seem to be forgetting, potentially the most pivotal figure in this deal; Chris Hughton, the man has been around the R.O.I squad forever and probably has a good relationship with Duffer

The thread started with 'besides obviously the scum'.
I don't hate Chelski for what they are doing, I love them for it. It will be very short-lived, just look at Real Madrid and the Galacticos (and at least they have a history). When Chelski's short reign falls flat on it's face they will be forever remembered in the history of football as the club that bought success. The last club that did that were Blackburn and look at them. At some point too Abrahamovic will get caught out. His wealth is dirty, dirty money and I'd wager a bet that he will get his fingers burnt soon or lose interest. Expect Chelski doing a Leeds in about 5 years.
I used to hate pointless sides like Southampton and Coventry but got my wish and they were relegated. Used to hate Leeds for their Nazi supporters but they are long forgotten too. Never hated Manchester Rowdies because we tend to have entertaining matches against them but their supporters are a pain in the arse. No one like glory chasers. As for West Ham I always kind of liked them, they have a similar playing ethos to us. I think the promotion and Cup Final went to their heads last season and their supporters have illusions of grandeur. They will be relegation fodder next this season.

If Duff joins Newcastle instead of us it would be a total travisty for him personally and for us. DON'T ****ING DO IT!
My god, how stupid would that be. I can't for the life of me see it happening though. Everything points to him joining us: better team, better manager, better future, european football, same city, people you know well at the club... one of your best mates: Keano. Newcastle are going nowhere anytime fast. They're more likely to have a Roeder second season with West Ham than a top five. He performed heroics to get West Hams golden generation relegated. I mean, how did he pull that one off?
Jesus Christ... Newcastle. At the worst case scenario wait to see if spurs will cough up what Chelsea want. If they won't (which I'd be pissed off at them over) then sign for Newcastle.
As an Irishman even, leaving aside spurs, JOIN SPURS! This can't be happening... no it isn't... just chill Choda. It'll work out.

But then at Newcastle there's Shay Given and (ha! ha! ha!) Stevie Carr from the Irish team.
Think we're not going to pay over the odds for a player in the last year of his contract whereas Newcastle seem desperate. They throw money at players to get them to go up there.

Ya forgot about them, but that is only one point, and he's much friendlier with Keano. Plus Hughton, one of the bosses, worked with him already. Oh, it's irrevelvant now anyway.
But the money thing, who cares if we paid a few mill more towards his true value than his contract situation. Unfortunetely Chelsea are not a real club and can't be held to ransom over such things because they don't have to sell. If Duff left on a freebie in a year Roman won't lose sleep. So, in my view, normal market principle doesn't fully apply here. They're only quasi selling him for slightly less than full value so that they don't totally rub everyone's nose in it. They're probably already worried about Fifa looking at how to stop billionaires ruining football.
It's about getting the player, and if spurs didn't want to spend 10 mil on Duff then I think we have to question Jol/Levy during Jol's stewardship for the first time. But none of knows the full story yet. So I guess I'm jumping the gun. Lets' wait and see. The most likely is actually that Duff is being a greedy little ****, as it looks like he couldn't wait to be lured by the greasy green paper and join Owen in Fredy's cock eyed attempts to appease the toon army with one or two big PR signings, while still overseeing an overall shit management and team.
This is depressing... but we'll move on soon enough. I'm going to be pissed off for days over this though.
