I take it I am as entirely unsurprised as anyone else to learn that David O'Leary has been aquanited with his P45 again. I've never rated him that highly as a manager but it certainly takes a brave man to take the Villa reigns - I think other than St. James Park, Villa Park must be the least coveted managerial destination in the Premiership. God knows who is corageous/foolish enough to take helm now, but for the sake of Villa's fans (who I have always found to be a friendly and well-informed bunch) I hope they get it right. Moreover, I hope Ellis finds a buyer soon and puts Birmingham's claret quarters out of their misery....
On the plus side, another three home points for us is seemingly assured!

Nope, that is one perfectly balanced equation. I do feel for Villa fans though - there situation isn't unlike ours in the Sugar era. I sincerely hope Ellis sells to someone with ambition and Brum gets a team it can be proud of.
The lesson should be learned though - employ Gooners, prepare for failure...

I have never rated O leary as a manager. He inherited an excellent crop of players at Leeds which were nurtured / purchased by george graham. He thought all he had to do was protect them in the media and give them lots of hugs and the rest will take care of itself. Well look at the shape he left them in and the situation they are in now. He doesn't fool me with his self-effacing and depreciative attitude in post match interviews and I couldn't bare his errr....errrr...errrrr. errrrr... between each poxy sentence. Villa are supposed to be a massive club but I have seen no ambition from them since the premiership began to establish themselves as a european force. The chairman is to blame - he is a dinosaur. Im sure there is an aston villa billionaire fan in russia or an arab prince desperate to move to Birmingham!!

O Leary is a good manager when he has a good bunch of young players... alot of money... but when the moneys drys up your in trouble...
As for Ellis... I feel sorry for the fans... ahh well... They could heading to the Championship if Ellis doesn't leave...
And what manager in their right mind would go there and work 4 Ellis

If you believe the rumour mills, Alan Curbishley, who has a proven track record of forging mid-table respectability from sloggers, clunkers and has-beens.
Feel a little sorry for Villa, as I quite like them as a club. Agree with everything above re O'Leary - he has been Emperor's New Clothes from day one. And he looks like Tubbs/Edward's long lost brother....

Curbs must be mad if he goes there..... I understand Curbs left for a break... but surely he can work for a better chairman than Ellis... I spose like u said he did miracles with a **it squad @ Charlton and little money

and a couple of Charlton fans I know told me that the fans never took to Curbishley, even though he dragged the club out of the shit. So he'd be at home with the Villa fans....

What made me laugh so much was Villa trying to get £12million out of Hamburg for Baros!
I mean, he's worth pennies at the moment and Hamburg launched £8million!

I was thinkin the exact same thing when reading Villa fans comments. We all suffered for years with Gross, Hoddle, Graham etc....So many false dawns and so much frustration....I can't understand why Ellis the coffin-dodger hasn't quit, how can a man who is so clearly hated by the clubs fans remain in charge? I would have saved myself the indignity of it all a long time ago. I'm sure their fans deserve better than what is happening there right now and what has been going on for the last few years.

I lived in Brum for a while and still keep in touch with alot of folks there. Word on the street is that Ellis is quite the egomaniac who can't bring himself to step out of the relatively little limelight he has. The idiot wants a stupid ammount for Villa, apparently about 15m over their market value so I fear Villa fans will have to suffer for a while longer yet.
Villa fans may well look to us for a degree of solace - we are living proof that bad chairmen don't go on forever...

I actually do believe that Milan Baros is the worst striker in the Premiership. How he got Euro Champs Golden Boot I will never know.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the worst, I mean Emile Heskey is still around! :p
There are definately worse strikers, i.e kevin phillips, james beattie, jason roberts, Jared Borgetti..... I could go on and on....

Roberts is a yiddo so don't go rippin him wil l ya. Borgetti and Phillips I actually think are half decent players. Oh and Roberts will forever be a legend for that last minute goal in the League Cup vs the scum. Moments earlier they were doing the ol' ole's around the ground. Then they quickly shuffled out.

the villa job has got to be the worst job in football. i mean you would have to work with Ellis, no money, no decent players, crap fans, forever being told to slash the wage bill and you'd have to live up north.
what also makes me laugh is how fans of clubs such as villa, sunderland etc think they can attract managers like Martin O'Neill and big sam. im not saying big sam is of the same calibre of O'Neill but why would he swap the stability of Bolton for the championship with Sunderland or a relegation fight with Villa. total mugs
