Nevermind young player of the year and all that, who would everyone really have on their list?

My list would include the like of:

Ireland
Young
Lennon
Vidic
Gerrard
Fellaini
Van Persie (!)
Anelka (possibly)

To be honest Ireland would win it for me hands down.

Timmy Cahill dragged Everton through a what, 6 game period without a recognised striker on the pitch?

Yeah exactly. Was going to put Cahill down but couldn't remember how long he was out for.

Even Titus Bramble has had a good season, I should of included him on the list :scared: lol.

I don't think anyone in the League has been as consistently good as Stephen Ireland - maybe Gerrard, although he hasn't done it all season like Ireland, who has been producing from the first whistle. Vidic would have shaded it for me but for his recent loss of form. Ireland has just been magnificent. My shortlist would include:

Ireland
Fellaini
Vidic
Gerrard
Barry
Carlton Cole
Palacios (for his Wigan form, not just Spurs)

Anelka? Top scorer, kept Drogba out of the side for ages.

My vote would probably go to Vidic who has been consitently excellent but it's not the done thing to give the award to defenders (unless they're England captian and made to look god by a succession of clas centre half partners, who could I be talking about?!).

I'd also say Xabi Alonso for being consistently underrated as Liverpool's most important player.

I thought Zaki would walk this player of the year award in the first 1/4 of the season :scared:

Danielle Lloyd she's been consistant over the last few seasons and has played some blinding stuff to be fair and keeps doing it week in week out.

Dempsey!?!?!? :scared: :scared: :scared:

You surely can't compare his performances to the likes of Gerrard, Ireland, Vidic or even Cahill, Fellaini and Palacios?

Ireland won't get it because at this stage the media and FA member is so firmly rooted up the top four.

So in that case I'd go for Vidic, because ManU have been very patchy throughout the year and lazy but he's kept them solid for long spells, very much helping clean sheets which got win after win just about.

Gerrard is now playing in his right position and is devastating. He'd have to be in the running.

Alonso is underated alright Milo, but I couldn't say he is more important than Gerrard or Torres.

But I would agree that it never seems to register in England that central midfield needs an Alonso far more than it needs a sort of striker cm like Gerrard, Lampard, who imo are really forwards or very much attacking midfielders that don't really control a game but can absolutely change it.

But central midfield is first and most importantly about control and Alonso and Macherano certainly give that when allowed to do it by the manager (which isn't always the case).

He has had another excellent season though. He's a very fine player and part of the reason Fulham keep picking up points as he keeps popping up with performances, assists and goals. Class finisher and technically a good player.

A consistent performer and I'm guessing you only watch Fulham when On skysports? Has Gerrard been that great this season? I don't.

Also I named players who have played well this season, its always the same old name but players like Dempsey may not be at the levek of Gerrard ect but he has improved considerbly.

Well I saw Dempsey score twice on Sky Sports the other day :001_rolleyes: When do you watch Fulham if not on Sky Sports/MOTD? He's alright, but I just don't think he could be in the running for player of the season given the calibre of the other contenders.

Alonso is a very good shout - I player I really admire. Demspey has also been very good this season. So fed up with the predictable short lists.

I'm also suprised given doesnt get more of a mention.

This season along with most of the previous he has been in the top 3 keepers despite having a shit defence in front of him most of time.

Given is world class IMO.

He's one of the best keepers in the world, but unfortunately he just concedes too many goals to be nominated, because he's played behind two of the Premiership's worst defences. He'll be off to West Brom come summer :001_rolleyes:

When spurs are on a sunday I watch different teams when I can, Fulham have been that team more than not this season.

So you pick players just on the calibre of there reputation?:001_rolleyes: Gerrard and others haven't consistently played at there level week in week out like Dempsey has. Just because Gerrard is a better player than Dempsey doesn't mean he can't not peform and get more respect than him.

I never said the calibre of their reputation, I said their calibre. You mentioned Danny Murphy - he's a much better contender than Dempsey, as are all the others I mentioned, not all of them with as big reputations as Gerrard, e.g Fellaini, Palacios and Ireland, though admittedly their reputations are growing. I just don't think that Dempsey is much better than average.

Maybe not but his performances have been outstanding nonetheless pal.

And last year, he's deserves a lot more than not much better than average. Certainly has been the last two seasons. He's been a good player at the very least.

I like the look at Fulham, you look at them and you think "easy touch" but they play the game the right way and get there just rewards.
