from the sublime in tristan and nedved to gravesen and sorin. I think gravesen is a good player but i don't think we need him, we have five tackling centre mids on our books and that's not including carrick. I can't stand sorin, he's the biggest diver in world football and is no better in my opinion than treacle.

Couldnt agree more he would be a valuable addition to any team in the prem, but along with all the other sunday summer rumours very wide of the mark i suspect.
At most we will make 2 more signings my guess is Chimbonda(a story which has never gone away)& a left midfielder/attacker.

i'd really like to see lua lua at spurs but i think we need another big striker if berby gets injured. I can't stand sorin, he's a dirty cheat and has no pace. i don't think we need a left nack now anyway. ekotto and lee should be fine.

He's got plenty of pace and is always supporting the attacks with dangerous runs... I would love to see him at spurs... With Gravesen i'm not sure.. He's a good player, but since he joined Real he's been playing like shit... I don't know whats wrong with him, but I think it's because Real is using him in a position where he's only allowed to tackle and break up attacks, and not allowed to touch the ball...

Nedved is too old for us. We should be buying players around 26 years old who have a bit of experience at the top and who's still young enough to give us 4-5 years of good, consistent service. We cannot be forever changing parts every year as it would have a detrimental effect on team play and team chemistry.
Graveson will not be adding any new dimention to the squad as with Sorin.
What we need now are players who either add new dimension to the team like left wing play or who will improve significantly on existing players like at RB.

Who can we sign that is as good as Nedved at that price? Answer; nobody!
We're signing plenty of young and youngish players, occassionally you need a bit of experience to add to it. Davids did the trick last saeson even if his performance dropped off near the end. Nedved is still doing it at the top level (higher than Edgar!) and brings bucketloads of experience and big name glamour, which is something we do need to think about if we want to regain our name on the world stage (my football-loving friends in Japan (including Germans)) had no idea Davids and Keane played for US until I took them to the pub to watch us against the gooners!
I would be delighted if we could get Nedved, it would beat the shit out of getting Downing!

lot sof duff rumours on spursweb board. it does seem funny we haven't been seen to be chasing many wingers. also jose said one of his group was leaving.

I think Nedved still has 1 maybe 2 solid seasons left in him. As i watched Nedved this World Cup agaist Italy, although the Czechs lost Nedved had a performance that shined brightest on the field. As for Sorin, a solid player throw him on the L-back move Lee to R-back and let's go.

The big problem if we signed Nedved would be his wage demands, do not think it would be worth upsetting other players I would rather have Downing who has years left in him,Nedved may only have one.

Where on earth did you find that Avatar? Are you involved in a tryst with BMJ?

1) Great avatar SurreySpur.
2) Downing would only be a good signing at 5mil max and let Jol develop him, if it didn't work out out there will always be the Newcastles and Man City to take him of our hands at around the same sort of price.
3) Nedved would be worth the wages just for the European experience he will bring. Remember we have a very young side with no experience abroad.
4) Sorin, better bet than Stalteri, so many of the Argies attack came through him on the left.

I agree with everything except Downing. I just cannot see what all the fuss is about. If he was a right winger he would be classed as distinctly average, so why is he Englands saviour just because he's left footed?
Nedved AND Duff for a few seasons would presumably mean we could offload Porky and would still leave us with two top class (world class?) left wingers. Surely Duff cannot fail to improve alongside Nedved?

i am with the signing of duff (though not a massive fan ) happy with the squad we have , ok yes right full back still to be filled , i would prefer to see how the team settles down in midfield before we try to buy anyone else .
i would wait till the january window now .

Downing should be called Duff, because that's exactly what he is, a Duff player. £5m is too much, i wouldn't go past 3, simply due to the fact that as someone said, Jol could develop him. But I just don't like him full stop. Nothing special whatsoever.
