2.1 to rovers who need the points more than us. I can also see us going back to our old push over self again as we will get to confident after the chelsea win. Also having Lennon playing for England tomorrow night I got a feeling he could feel the strain on an early sat kickoff.
Lets hope I'm wrong like I normally am on you know the score on fantasy football.:001_smile:

I'll predict the exact opposite to turkish. Lennon will be on fire arry will make sure JJ hasnt got the cigar out and we'll outplay them for the majority of the game and win 1-2.

Either way, I predict a 4-0 drubbing to Blackburn, purely as I'm a pessimstic bastard, and every time i say we'll lose, we win, so there :001_tounge:

If we win this one we will be over the 40 point total and 'officially' safe and three points closer to a European place.Blackburn may well need the points, but we are on a good run and are not pushovers at the moment. The longer we can stop Blackburn scoring, the more nervous they will get and what little of their crowd turns up will be on their backs and we can nick it.
I'll say 2-0 to Tottenham.

Harry should have made a change before palacios got sent off as the game was losing its edge and would have saved us a sending off. to bring on zokora afterwards when we needed to keep the ball is utter garbage decision (thud please).
Harry should also accept responsibility for his crap and his good decisions,
surprised Pav didnt come on for bent as he werent winnin any headers and also not doing much!
Palacios is still my hero what a performance before getting sent off.
Think were crying out for a natural left winger to tuck modric infield as he cant help getting dragged into the middle.I'd even have modric as second striker instead of bent.

That was probably our as good as we have payed away from home all season!
Some of the footie was triffic to watch the counterattcking was great and the overall passing was superior for the entire game.
Sure we conceded 2 sloppy goals but was it really the fault of the defenders. Do the attacking players get no blame for missing so many great chances (think JJ pass for a tap in).
After a sending off like that (never a sending off maybe a red 1 ttime out of 100!) I honestly lost all concentration so I actually understood the players losing their mental strength.
Like harry said it was a "farcical sending off" and it does affect you mentally....
did everyone miss ledley and woody one of the finest centre back pairings in the league lose their mental strength. You all did so instead of knee jerking we need to understand the result in context.
18 POINTS FROM 10 GAMES = CL FORM.
The fact woody and king switched off is a 1 off and I am fed up of reading the same old its like wigan, west brom etc.
NO IT ISNT WE PLAYED WELL BUT THEN OUTR BEST PLAYERS (WOODY AND KING) WERE AT FAULT. Wont happen again and we'll probably get 12-14 points from our last 7.
Well done to the lads I greatly enjoyed the performance if not the result.
If we play like that away from home next season we'd get 35-40 points away from home.
Also well done to the fans who went up north.
Sometimes if you look at the big picture and realise that is the first time in a yearif not more we looked the dominant side for over 80 MINUTES AWAY FROM HOME.
Excellent counterattacking and our passing was superior for the first 80 minutes and that is the first time anyone can say that this season.
You'll all start jumpng when we winournext 2 at home but its this PERFORMANCE which is the biggest posisitve from a defeat I can remember since the scum away when we lost 1-2 (Ok that didnt herald a new dawn) but thisperformance is off the back of villa away, sunderland awat, hull away all 4 games we were the better team. 7 points from 4 is the kind of stuff the cl teams would achieve.

You can't legislate for referee **** ups like that, we have to just see it as a one off, bad luck, get to work for our home games. The newcastle one now particularly is gonna be tough.
Having said that, Palacios had been literally halfway round the world and back to play 90 mins in Honduras a few days earlier, a change BEFORE 80 minutes, a Bentley or a Bale on one of the wings I thought, might just have seen us through.

Agreed. In a game that we were in total control of,Palacios being replaced by Zokora after 70-75 mins wouldn't have lost us that game. There is no doubt that the ref was shite. But he was shite for both teams. We were given a dodgy penalty and scored from it,even though the ball was quite clearly not on the penalty spot.
It wasn't the ref that failed to turn our dominance into a second goal.It was our fault. And it was our fault for the shambolic cave in at the end.Sometimes we and indeed Harry Redknapp, just have to be man enough to hold our hands up and say "we f*cked up".

The whole ball doesn't have to be on the spot. If that ball had been on the touchline, it would not have been fully over the line, so it counts as on the line. I am a qualified referee, and I know that the ball only has to be touching the penalty spot - they even pointed that out on Sky at half time. And apart from that - Keane would have scored anyway; does anyone really think that the half yard made the difference?

Saturday was a good game of football ruined by abysmal decision making; not only in the decisions themselves but the reasoning employed to make them, ie none!
The most obvious from our perspective is the double booking that shouldn't have of Palacios. The first was a foul, granted, but not severe enough to warrant a card. The second, as we can all see, contact wasn't even made! To compound this, how Moekena wasn't gone for his offence is a mystery. This red card visibly sealed our demise, and highlights Palacios' value in the centre. All the gaps he was plugging before became exactly that... gaps, which Blackburn took advantage off, most certainly for the equaliser. After that we lost our effectiveness going forward too.
But was this poetic justice? Because in my opinion, we should have never been awarded that penalty. Not in a month of sundays. And while Robbie is a cheeky little fecker, and he'll grab every advantage he can, that ball was barely on the spot, come on! Why do laws in football have to be so fuzzy. The rule should be nice and clear cut; there's a spot, the ball goes in the middle of it, job done. If there's confusion over something as simple as putting a round object on a round area, then for god's sake footballs in bigger trouble than we thought! And if this was a penalty, then by that rationale B'burn should've had one too for Corulka's "intentional" flap at the ball (despite his not even knowing where the ball was), and Robbie's "chesting" of the ball in the second half.
Anyway, all of this (like the above rant) distracts from what was a very good performance from us I thought. Modric looks classier by the game, some excellent close control and one touch football being exhibited by him. Some very nice link up play between him, Bent and Robbie on the left led to him nearly scoring a goal of the month, jinking past a couple of defenders, before he over-reached himself and lost the chance. And did anyone see his showboating clearance of the ball into touch at the end of 45 mins? Rather than simply nod it out he leaped into the air and kung-pow'ed it into the crowd! Awesome! :w00t:
Speaking of Bent, I thought he looked lively, pulling defenders wide and linking up with the aforementioned well. He could have taken a couple of chances better, as per, but overall is looking much better as a player. Robbie actually seemed quiet in front of goal by comparison, but showed utmost confidence with a pretty much perfectly taken penalty, and again was linking well with everyone.
I'm gonna pick out 4 more players now. First Ledley King. Brilliant. Just Brilliant. Not just in his ability to read any approach of attack, be it through balls, in the air, one two's, dummy runs or covering the full backs. He was there to deal with everything that came his way. But also his actual footballing ability and composure. From a particular corner we had the ball was cleared. At this point the defender normally legs it back to his half to position himself, but Ledley tracked the flight of the clearance, won it in the air and brought it under his control, then immediately swivelled and hit a perfect through ball between two defenders for Lennon to run onto, thus keeping the pressure well and truly on. Just exceptional stuff.
Corluka, again. I really like this guy as a footballer. He read just about everything right, was really composed on the ball and if Lennon lost it or ran into trouble, he was there to cover. There's something just resolutely reassuring about having him on the pitch.
Ekotto. Okay it all went wrong at the end, but for the first half I was impressed. Gut busting running and covering, cut out an afwul lot of stuff, and Diouf only got away from him once or twice.
Gomes. He had, for the most part, a really sound game. Made some terrific saves and commanded the box well. UNTIL! Well... just poor decision that, I don't know where he thought he was going. But while he's a great shot stopper, big and agile, his decision making is on Barthez levels of comedy. Until that's learned, he'll always be a liability in these situations.
In the end, Blackburn would have felt like they were robbed. We certainly were robbed of a player! 1-1 would have been fair from that perspective, but loss of concentration and belief led to them snatching it, when we had been the better team by miles in the first half, and still held our own in the second despite B'burn getting more physical. We've gotta be tougher in these situations. Palacios adds that, but without him we become a pushover again. If we're to push into Europe the other players need to dig deep within themselves to find that same resilience.
Oh...
And Diouf is a c*nt! :angry::angry:

Sick to my stomach. Thought we were excellent for 70 mins in that game, we really played well at a tough place and just cant believe what unfolded. I think Woodgate got totally bullied by Samba in the latter stages, talking about Samba I could see Harry making a move for the guy - seriously. Not that I want to critisize Gomes as he has been excellent recently but I have know idea what he was doing for the second goal. After the sending off we just seemed to implode - a bit worrying from a mental strength (or lack of) perspective. Yes it was a ridiculous decision but I maintain we still could have held on for the win! Blackburn had done very little for being the home side but we have to be mentally tougher than that! Had we been 2-0 up that wouldn't of happened. That brings me on to the lack of finishing, we weren't clinical - if we had of been it would of been one of the best performances away from home for several years. I honestly think we should of been 3-0 up - game over - sending off or no sending off. As much as Bent is working hard (which we should expect to be fair) I think he didn't anticipate anything on Saturday. I noticed on two occassions if he had of gambled on a run he would of got on the end of at least two balls in their box - but didn't gamble. He had some decent movement outside the box but when he gets into it he seems to go static. I wanted Pav on earlier and I really thinked he would of scored a second for us.
Palacios was excellent and he's arguably the most valuable player in the team at the moment.
Will he serve a one match ban against the Pikeys?
The signs are very encouraging for next season provided we keep our best players. If we dont make Europe we will finish higher in the league next season - bet my house on it.

We played well but we just cant kill teams off and it gets on my tits regardless of the sending off that game should have been sown up.
Gomes had a decent game until he messed up AGAIN for all his good work he messes up tenfold so i dont expect to see him here next season if harry gets his wish and gets someone elese in.

Choda seems to be the only one that noticed that Woodgate had a diabolical second half on Sunday. If Dawson had played like that he would have beeen slated - Woody was all over the place - Chris bloody Samba gave him the runaround
