Milo how cynical.
Oh wait a minute, this is Spurs we are talking about.
We will probably sell Bentley to Villa for 7 mill in late June and then Lennon to Liverpool for 22 mill in July only to buy him back for 12 mill in January, at which point our new manager Alan Pardew will be saying '2 points in the first 8 games, we took a real ar$ef**king at the beginning of the season'.

Not sure actually. I would imagine that players at SPurs will look at Keane and the terrible (in football terms, not financial) mistake he made in the summer. It may end up being a real boon having him return, if only cos he can warn other players like Lennon as to the folly of moving when you are enjoying your football.

Indeed. These lads, Modric and Lennon are young too so I think they will give it more of a chance at spurs first.
Keane had a long spell here before he left, he did give it a good chance but it didn't really happen in that spell and it certainly wasn't his fault. I feel Harry is better than the previous incumbents (just better than Jol and knows English football can speak the language better than Ramos!) to.

this isnt as good as spurs would like you to believe
lennons getting an improved contract which he deserves for an improvement in his form. This doesnt stop him wanting a move at a later date and he will earn more before he asks for his move.
So its a win win for lennon. We already had him sign a contract till 2012 now its benn reneogtiated to 2013. Amazing really because there is almost no change in the situation except for a 1 year increase.
His previous contract was £11m over 5 years about £40,000 a week I reckon he is on about £50-60k per week now. Good for him but only a very slight improvement for us.

I didnt think the lad Lennie could read or write!
So they gave him the form and told him just to cross it, the first one hit the first defender, the second try went off the table, third attempt was great.....but Bent was offside!

Fantastic news - Aaron Lennon has signed a new contract today which lasts until 2014
He made some comments about how much he loves the club, how welcome everyone (including the fans) has made him feel, and that he feels he's having his best season. All is well :001_smile:

HA! Sod off Benitez et al, if you want him your paying through the nose you vultures!! I read that 'Pool were after him this summer in the Times on Friday and just shrugged my shoulders at the inevitability of it all.
But it's true, contracts mean very little in any industry, they can be broken with a sufficient pay off. I was alarmed to read that Spurs also have a debt of £40.1m??! So Levy may see a £25m sale of Lennon as a way to half the debt? :001_unsure:

No mate, it's a debt that is paid off year by year when his planned profits come in regardless of any player sales which goes back into the transfer kitty. It's time people realised that Levy is an excellent and ambitious chairman.
Look how he forked out in January when Harry asked him to. Just it is being spent well and the manager has worked well and hard to start to get the best out of the players too.

So you reckon our debt is manageable and there is a long term plan to pay it off, especially in light of the new stadium plans? I'll admit to being in the dark about financial matters (I'm a software developer/geek) so my info is based purely on what I read in the papers / news sites / SSN.

Well those people have had it in for spurs for years, loving the turmoil and blaming the wrong people as far as I am concerned, and making up soap operas that didn't really exist.
The debt is very manageable. Our books are better than any club you can mention and is held up in authority circles of how you should run a club.
If Lennon is sold it will be because he demands a move, they won't want to sell him as Levy's plan is to leave us in the cl with a new stadium and then sell up for a huge profit and everyone is happy.
The stadium will be funded by sponsorship deals and projected earnings. It will create a debt, but a planned and manageable one.
Levy is fantastic at generating investment and infastructure. They still don't know how he got the mansion deal at that time, as it was a huge investment in a club that was underachieving and hadn't had gotten a deal like that in the previous decade at all.
Even if he sold the club in 2012 with the club in debt due to the stadium the books and future foundation will be so impressive that suitable buyers will be queuing up.
This club has been held back for years with the stadium issues. As you know the fan base and potential is enormous.

I remember the hoo-haa around that at the time. Biggest sponsorship deal ever at the time wasn't it? (Pipped by Manure's AIG deal, although we know where they got that money how don't we, ha ha! Would be hilarious if Barack Obama contributed to Man Utd losing sponsorship money. "Biggest club in the world? Pwned by the United States Government!!")
I always had the impression we were well run financially and as a business. I think the glaring misjudgements of staff and player signing the last 2 summers screwed us, and encouraged a lack of trust in the chairman from the fans. Understandable when things go wrong really. I was just alarmed when I read it, as I didn't know about the extent of the debt, and obviously papers but 2 and 2 together and get 27 without checking the background workings.

I dont think Lennon will leave at all any time soon. He loves London and has plenty of mates at Spurs (I hope we keep the Hudd - at least as a pal for Lennon!). I know the signing of the contract protects getting the maximum for him but it also rewards him for doing well. Believe me if it were United who were chasing the inevitable probably would happen. Add to the fact that Keane would probably warn him about Rafa even if he were to consider it. You can also bet your bottam dollar that Harry would be doing everything possible to keep him. Liverpool have already been mugged by us once and its very unlikely they would pay top whack, or possibly over the odds, again.
No doubt this will rumble on over the summer with the likes of the Barry saga but I dont see it materialising - actually it may die earlier than we expect. I just cant see Liverpool forking out 25 million even if Lennon wanted to leave. Even if he was considering it Harry would play a major part in persuading him against it given that he's so young. I am 90% confident that he will be a Spurs player for next season.
