Keane, Ginola, Mabbutt, perryman, roberts and KING should be higher. Berbatov should of made the list but overall I'm happy especially with the top 5. Glad Anderton made it in there.

Number 3, Dave Mackay was at 2 and number 1 was Danny Blanchflower

Top 3 were about right. It's a really difficult list to do and rank. I always forget Alf Ramsay played for us. Klinsman at 15 was a bit too high for my liking, no Ricky Villa, Garth Crooks and Tony Galvin was a bit of a shame.
Funny quotes....
The German headed the winner in a 4-3 opening-day victory away to Sheffield Wednesday but you can’t win trophies with Klinsmann at one end and Stuart Nethercott at the other.

Suprised by Klinsmann at 15. An overestimation for a player who only played a total of 1.5 seasons for us. Thought Mabbut should've been much higher.
And I'm biased because I only really know the players of my generation, but I really would've liked to see David Howells there, he was spurs through and through.

I agree that Mabbutt should have been been higher, i also think the Steve Perryman should have been much higher. Im suprised that Nick Barmby didnt just creep in to the reckoning, not everyones cup of tea but he was a cracking little player at spurs.
I cant disagree at all with the top 6, they all deserve to be in there. Danny had to be number one....no question.
Was Paul Allen in there?

Paul wasn't but he got an honourable mention in the part about Les Allen.

Another thing I love about the older players....
Was discovered down a coal mine, six months earlier was a joiner, was plucked from Guernssey where someone recommended him. Fantastic.
In footballing terms Judas should definitely be on the list. If it wasn't for the whole Scum episode he would be in most people top 15-20 (of all ages, except Berbz who was only 3 when Judas left).

Hmm,I'm not sure about some of those.Darren Anderton in the top 50?.Why him and not, say,Tony Galvin?.And Gazza in the top five?????.That's just bollocks.Yes he was a good player for us,and scored THAT goal, but our fifth greatest player ever?.
No Dozzell,Toda,Acimovic,Kevin Scott or Paolo Tramezzani?.

That Sir wold be Len Duqueimin if I am not mistaken, one of our all time greats.
Please tell me Walter Tull made the top ten (I know he only made ten appearance for the first team), a truly great man who the club (and the country in general) really ought to laud.
Of course Campbell should be on the list. We don't hate him for leaving cos he was crap, we hate him cos he was that good.
Right,read it, no Tull, travesty!
Who questioned Gazza's inclusion? Those who saw him week in week out will tell you, this guy was the best player in the whole freakin' world for about 18 months. This was at a time of players like Bobby Baggio and Gazza was easily as good as them (and more fun to watch).
Plus GG I love you for mentioning Howells, one of my all timeavourites, good player, great guy.

I do not recall either of them in there. The bulk were obviously from the 1950/51, promoted and winning the 1st division next season, push and run side. From the the double winning era and some from the early 20th century.
When you read the list it is quite amazing how many outstanding players we've had (respected by neutrals too). Greaves' goal/appearance rate still makes me double take every time I see it in black and white. Hoddle's was 1 in 4, Fat Frank those are proper statistics.

Jurgen may have only played 1.5 seasons for the club but I doubt any of you have seen or will see a better all round centre forward at the club (other than Chris Armstrong, obviously). Actually at any club. Best modern centre forward in my view.

As I posted that I thought his placing as the fifth best ever Spurs player was too high,I suppose that I had better justify that.
His first season in 88-89 was good, but totally overshadowed by a truly outstanding season from Chris Waddle.
His second season in 89-90 was genuine quality. There was a brilliant hat-trick against Derby that year.
He wasn't as good in 90-91,through injuries, until the Fa Cup run started. Then he almost single handedly got us to the final. And we all know what happened in the final.Gazza's career would only be on the way down from this moment.
The reason I question the fact that he was put in fifth place in this poll was IMO,that as good as he was, there was still much for him to learn and there would have been genuine greatness from him later on.It was a greatness that we never got to see.
I was a season ticket holder from 88-98 and I averaged 30-35 games a season,so I saw the Gazza era.We all see players differently,so someone else, if not everyone else, may think the opposite.
I saw a great player with the potential to be one of the world's greatest players. That potential was never truly fufilled. And to me that is why he shouldn't have been in fifth place.

As Milo mentioned in his post - for 18 months you couldn't imagine a better player - for Spurs and for England - he overshadowed everyone by miles with some of the worlds greatest players around!

I'm not saying that you or Milo are wrong, but IMO Gazza never had a season for us in the same way that Waddle did in 88-89 or even Ginola in 98-99.Gazza was a great player. But the greatest players in the world also have the mentality of a great player.Gazza never had that or it was still something for him to learn. He did have moments of pure genius. But not enough to be our fifth best player ever.

My dad has him at No. 01 as the greatest all time player he has seen second only to Maradona.
I couldn't comment there but Gazza brought more joy to me than any other player I have watched over the years including Ginola who I used to only go over Spurs to watch him play (all the rest were so sh!t).
I understand your view, and your opinion has been construed using different factors. Mine was based on not on their careers panned out, or what was won but only a player whose genious with the ball at his feet is beyond any player of that game and today's!

The list can only really be reflective of the players and their time at Spurs, otherwise would Clemence be higher taking into consideration his time at Liverpool?
Reading through the list it is interesting seeing who certain players were brought in to replace. One example is the Number 4 shirt, and who was filling whose boots. By in large we never replaced Ossie, Hoddle and Waddle and then came Gazza. At the time he was playing for us he held his own or some may argue even eclipsed the top regarded players in world football.

caught a bit of sky news tonight (yes we get it here ), they are continuing to run an interview with gazza tonight in which he apparently says he wished he had joined united , i presume that means instead of spurs .
i wouldnt hold that against him though , in hindsight maybe he blames a lot of his problems on the london culture , his celeb london mates and el tel not being firm enough .
also im told fergie has said this week in the british press that not signing gazza was his biggest mistake but i dont think even he would have kept gazza in line , especially after an injury like that and the resulting boredom .

Why? Okay Jurgen wasn't here long, but he was the best player we ever had. He was insanely good. He was one of the reasons I became a spurs fan, I was just mesmorised. That was a major coup for spurs to get him and showcase him in our colours. A major, 'see who we are, we have Jurgen Klinsmann, who the hell do you have?'.
Maybe I am wrong but it's just a list, does it really matter? Who's your number one? Greavsie? No problems here, sensational record and pure spurs.

Seriously, that's the sort of comnment I'd expect from a 15 year old Man U fan, "Ronaldo is our greatest player ever". Klinnsmann better than MacKay, Blanchflower, Greaves, Hoddle etc?

Well, I never saw any of those guys play, but fair enough. I guess staying here longer than that has to count and so on.
By the way please don't insult me comparing me to muppets that say Ronaldo is the best of anything. He wouldn't lace Best's boots from what I've seen and same for Messi, not to mention Maradona and so on.
And he's an arrogant, cheating pr*ck with a terrible attitude.

Greaves was just a legend one of the greatest goal scorers throughout the history of the game.
Jurgen was a bit special but he never accomplished what Greaves did for spurs.
