View Full Version : Cudicini or Gomes?

Gomes hasn't made an error for absolutely ages, he couldn't possibly have done anything about Thursday, no keeper in the world could have got there in time with the ball at that pace from that distance.

Cudicini is a total liability. He missed several catches tonight (admittedly he was fouled once) but there were 3 or 4 that he should have caught, and he was slapping and flapping at them like an idiot. There was also the header from Woodgate in the first half which was nearly an own goal, Woody couldn't have got a call from Cudicini, or he wouldn't have done it. He also charged out and missed at Bolton.

Basically, we're all worried about Gomes from set pieces. I think most agree that he's a better shot stopper than Cudicini, so we really only wanted Cudicini because we were scared of set pieces. But now he's worse than Gomes at them, so he's got nothing on Gomes! Harry has to see that at least when Gomes is in goal, if he gets to the ball, he will either get a good punch on it, or catch the bloody thing. Cudicini was flapping when there was nobody even near him. :cursing:

Cudicini every ****ing time.... Carlo made an error tonight, but he hasnt fall into misery, furthermore, his confidence built up upon that error... He is a very good keeper, unfortunate we are that he aint eligible for CC final

Carlo was truly god awful tonight. Maybe it's just one game, because he's ring rusty. I wouldn't judge him on one game, but I think Gomes is just the better keeper. He's a much bigger man with essentially more ability.

But he was at fault on thursday for his part of it. He was nowhere near the ball or man when it came in and was trying a narrow punch which meant that if he missed it was a goal.

I was going to but I forgot somewhere between writing and submitting the thread :blushing:

Can't you use your mystical mod powers and fix one up?

This thread should be moved to the joke section :glare:

On the serious note, Gomes gets my vote, He has got the whole backing of the Tottenham fans that will give him alot more confidence. As our goalkeeping coach confiirmed, Gomes has everything to become a top goal keeper.

I would play Gomes in the Cup final on Sunday instead of Cudicini. Not because of his blunder tonight, But because Gomes will be more confident.

I'd still rather cudicini than gomes regardless of his shocker last night

All keepers tend to make some errors, some more than others. I believe that Cudicini comes across as being more confident than Gomes.

Gomes hasn't had a look as bad as Cuda did last night since Fulham away, how long ago was that? Cuda was giving me kittens yesterday he nearly got beat by a woodgate header because of communication and sadly struggled.

Gomes deserves to be number one IMO and I believe he is the much better keeper.

Cudinici made my pants overflow every time a cross came inn. I never felt that way about Gomes, He seems more safe to play at the moment

Cudicini for me. Experience counts for a great deal when in a relegation battle.

One can't just judge any player on one performance.

No, but he's 36, hasn't played first team in years and I've never seen him play like that before. It doesn't bode well.

However, as I said after hull I wouldn't write him off, he might just be ring rusty, but you have to say it is a big worry.

The next time he plays I will be nervous.

Didn't do well against Bolton either but I agree could be ring rust so I wouldn't right him off yet. Staying at Chelsea as number two has affected his goalkeeping attributes big time.

But imo I feel Gomes is the better keeper and if he continues to play like he has since Fulham away then he has no problems. I also feel he can still improve a hell of a alot also.
