Included in Scotland's qualifying group for Euro 2008:
Italy (World Cup winners)
France (World Cup runners-up)
Ukraine (World Cup quarter-finalists)
Good luck to Scotland!

they aint gotta chance of getting through... but they may get lucky in the fact some big French players have now retired.... Italy always look dodgy in qualifing and Ukraine just didn't look good in the WC...

Just what is happening in Scotland? They used to produce world class players like MacKay, Henderson, Jimmy Johnstone, Tommy Gemmell and so on.

they moved to the money in england hence the league got worse and interest in the game died down

But surely being in the economic doldrums will have the kids playing more footie as they cannot afford other forms of recreation, and this should produce more players of skill to feed the system. The likes of Willy Henderson had nothing to do except dribbling a tennis ball round lamp-posts and othe objects to and from school.

the influx of foreign players didn't help either.... Dundee i think it was had over 3/4 of the squad were foreign... and the problem they weren't good players either....

If there is a good supply of local talent, there would have been no need for 3rd rate foreign players. Where have all the Scottish kids gone?

Where have all the Scottish kids gone?
They're hanging around the town centre, eating deep-fried Mars Bars, drinking cans of McEwans and Tennants Extra Strong, smoking fags and watching the EPL!!!! ;)

Och, come on noo...
The Scottish game has been in decline for years, mainly due to the hegemony of the Old Firm and their insistence in paying over the odds for mediocre European talent. However, the influx of foreginers to the English game is just as detrimental to the national team (as it is to ROI) because there's less chances for true Scottish talent to perform on a bigger stage. The better Scotland sides over the years have always been filled with a core of players plying their trade in the upper eschilons of the Englsih leauge..
Mackay et al - when will we see your like again?
