We just need him, we are in big trouble and with no real striker who can link up play and exploit defences by playing in the hole. He scores goals and at
12m I think it's a good deal.
I'm upset the way he left, but the position we are in I have no time holding grudges. We need someone to score us goals and inspire the team and Keane will do that.

Good move I think. If only because with Defoe injured for at least 10 weeks we needed a striker with movement who can link play with the midfield and the strikers. I was excited about Modric playing in Defoe but I can see Modric and Keane causing havoc with the lesser sides in the league.
One upside is that Keane now has to stay even if we get relegated (which wont happen).

One thing we've missed alot lately is movement. Keane gives us this. I think I said yesterday that it would be good to see RK and LM team up.

I voted Bad move because Keane will not be able to play upfront with Defoe in the future when he returns from injury.

Undecided.
I love Robbie as a Spurs player. Been my fave Spurs player for years now, so I'm delighted he's back.
But is it a good signing for the team in it's current state. I just feel like we're in a mess, selling one minute then later going "erm... actually, can... can we have him back?" Going round in circles.

That needs some clarification. It's 12m basic with 4m add-ons, which seem to be appearance based and likely to be easily met, and a further 3m based on winning trophies(which won't be met).
That fee will rise quickly to nearer £16m with further ambitious add-ons, linked to silverware he claims at Spurs, to see up to £19m change hands again. - Guardian

If they could play together, why was Mido preferred to Defoe? The example is that Jol tried desperately to avoid playing Keane and Defoe up front whenever possible.

He avoided it, doesn't mean they couldn't. I saw one game where there was no option but to play them both up front, not sure of the opponents but they destroyed whoever it was, sure we won that game by at least 3, either that or we scored 3.

Agreed. A large part of Jol's strategy was to hit the big man with a long ball. How often were we tearing our hair out with Robbo knocking it long every time he got the ball? The archetypal examples were Fulham away in the cup(0-4), and Liverpool away in the league(2-2). Mido/Berba knocks on a long ball and Keane finishes. You Watford!

I used to hate it so much when Robinson did that :cursing:
I remeber once I got this video review of the season with the season ticket renewal stuff, and it went through good moments of the season, with interviews with players and/or Jol talking about them. One of the moments was Robinson's goal, and Jol was talking about it, and he said:
"I was watching him take it, and thinking, Oh here we go again, kicking the ball away instead of keeping it."
All that time I thought Jol must have been telling Robinson to hoof it - WHY DIDN'T HE TELL HIM TO STOP!?!?! IT WAS SO USELESS!!! Even when he scored that goal, it was a truly dreadful free kick, he had just smashed it straight back to Watford, and got very lucky :001_rolleyes:

Im happy with the return of Keano, he's exactly what we need at the moment and hopefully his workrate, determination and enthusiasm will rub off on certain other members of the squad. I was disapointed when he chose to leave us for liverpool in the summer but i could understand why he did it, but it takes a big man to realise that hes made a mistake and go out to rectify it, especially in such a public arena.

Actually, it takes a man who has been excluded from the squad by his manager, realises he has no future at the club he joined, but then sees he can rejoin the club where he was a revered figure, and perhaps resurrect his career.

Personally, I'd imagine a person so bereft of basic grammar, that they would confuse "would of" with "would've"(cos it sounds the same, innit?), and continue to do it repeatedly, possibly because they didn't pay proper attention at school, and thus have less ability to communicate in English than people whose first language is not English. At least, that's the sort of person I can imagine.

"Sorry.  "
What's the difference now? He's a MOD, doing exactly the things he said he wouldn't do within a few days of getting that so-called power. Utterly pathetic.

The irony is in your crusade against Turkish's language skills you fail to see how your own communication is perceived. To be frank your post reads as belittling and rude. MM's was not close to that, nor was the intent or the quantity of similar posts.
I would hazard a guess that you are deliberately baiting Turkish to prove a point. That if successful you will be banned or suspended. But what point have you proved and to who?
I enjoy your posts and your points of view are very insightful. I enjoy your ongoing catfight with choda. There are times when the information you provide is spot on. However when I read what you posted on here in response to a bit of light fun by Turkish and to berpz and to croydon, I just get exasperated. It just makes you look like a bully of the younger forum members and a childish one at that.

Should younger forum members be treated like children? Yes, in some circumstances. But this is an adult forum, or people with pretentions to being adults, and there shouldn't be some kind of deference to tolerating views that make no kind of sense or are predicated on the basis or something being shit or not shit.
There actually is no cat fight with choda. He believes Levy is the saviour of Spurs and I don't, he believes Keane is on the verge of world class, I don't. I have been a Spurs fan since 1958 and I'm a Republic of Ireland fan as well. Robbie Keane's arrival at WHL was a dream come true for me. His departure and disloyalty to us set my teeth on edge with the contempt and disgust I then felt for him. I couldn't find any desire to wish him well even when I reflected on his six years of effort for us and I was delighted when he played badly, especially in the match against us when he was completely anonymous. I couldn't even bring myself to cheer him when he played for Ireland.
And then he returns.
I could go on despising his earlier action or I can recognise and admire the fact that it took courage for him to admit that it was a wrong move. It took courage to return to a club where he knows some fans will go on hating what he did. It took courage to come back with his tail between his legs.
I've made mistakes in my life (how many of you have not?)and would not want to so publicly admit them. It takes courage to want the ball even when you're not playing very well and he has always shown that by the bucketload.
We now need players with that sort of courage and fans to support them in order to save this great club of ours from the humiliation of relegation.
I will do what I thought was unimaginable and start to forgive and forget because I am inclined to believe he has learnt a lesson and is ready to fight for our cause.
One final question! If our former centre-half had come back to us after six months saying he got it wrong I think we would have welcomed him back with open arms and very few would have objected.

It's all in the delivery and the perceived intent. You clearly do not see the difference between yours and MM's and that is fair enough. I'm not going to deny that, not place. I perceive them and the person who it was directed to entirely differently. I also think MM was just parodying you and having some fun. No younger forum members should not be treated like children. That's as bad as talking to 6 year old kids in a 'ga-ga-ga-googly-goo' voice. If you want people to act like adults speak to them like adults not like they are a child. That's just my opinion though, others may disagree. You have no qualms about doing that, I just think it is not necessary. The fact of the matter is in this crazy modern world lots of people have the benefit to share opinions, learn from others and speak their mind. I get frustrated by what I read sometimes I choose to tackle it a different way.

And lastly your back-and-forth do come over as a cat-fight but they are amusing because you are both as stubborn as eachother.

True, but there are clear limits. If you don't have a basic grasp of grammar(not spelling) you can't easily make yourself understood. If speech here denigrated to near text speak, you'd soon get pissed off. I guarantee I could do text crap as well as anyone else, but surely the point is that you tend to ignore posts that aren't thought out, and look cruddy. Generally, the grammar dictates the thought and effort put into it.

Good post. Of course the 2 differences between the players are that one failed very quickly(whilst his club hasn't) and the other went on to fantastic success(as did his club). For whatever reasons, Keane's failed badly and looked an utter failure. He's in a position to retrieve that, but it's down to the player.

I will do what I thought was unimaginable and start to forgive and forget because I am inclined to believe he has learnt a lesson and is ready to fight for our cause

Spending an extended time in jrio's company can be mentally disorientating and physically confusing.
When you say 'physically confusing' are you not sure whether you are a boy or girl? Or are parts of your body doing things that make you scared yet excited at the same time.

If you don't like something disagree with it, or ignore it. Do not get personal with other members in a negative way. A joke and a laugh is a good thing, and is made more obvious by a smiley or something. Enough with the shit. 'Play the ball, not the man' is a phrase used on other forums and it's going to be taken on by this one. Again, whether you like it or not.

Sir,
I saw your post on Robert Keane rejoining the Tottenham Hotspurs and found it most disagreeable. I found the fellow's behaviour rather obnoxious and befitting of a fellow who should not be performing on the pitch for the Hotspurs. Cavorting with carriage thieves, scoundrels and wastrels, it sounds very unbefitting! Are you unaware of the standards set by the majestic figure of William Nicholson at our club? It ill behooves me to lecture to a fellow supporter, but I must say that I am deeply concerned that you would sanction such a transfer, even in our desperate state!

Nicely phrased, but oh so mealy mouthed. I was in a shop late at night where the staff were being terrorised by a guy who was owed money by the shop owner who wasn't there. I had no desire to see it, just buy my pie and yoghurt and slink off. I didn't and made an issue of it. He jabbed me in the chest, made some words, but stopped terrorising the staff. Eventually the police arrived. See, I'm not really a hero but I did eventually stand up and was counted. I did my bit. I stood up to a bully, and not for the first time. But I don't shout about it, and make myself out to be a bit of a hero. You could learn something from me. What it is may take you longer to understand.

No one was saying you were a hero. Quite the reverse. You're the Pontius Pilate of the forum, not that I'm Jesus - I've got long hair and am good with wood, can't do much with lepers, and feeding crowds with 2 fish and 8 loaves - proclaiming that there should be justice, but if there's a bullet in the head or a slap on the wrists, it's the same to you. There's a reason you're not in the criminal justice system, I'm just starting to understand it. You don't really have any sense of proportion. You'd be a hanging judge. "Hang 'em High Shuggie", I guess they'd call ya. Ain't that a fact?

talk about judging a president before he has even been in office for a month!
the USA will go to war with Iran if things escalate but there is no problem with a certain country having 15o nuclear weapons despite the rest of the middle east having none. Talk about an imbalance.

Nice 1st post and can agree with much of it .
But though i didnt take keanes desertion as hard as you it seems , it hurt obviously but i could through gritted teeth understand why he went, and the money was a good sell in my book , im of the opinion he made his choice and should live with it .
Indeed if his boyhood club meant so much to him , enough indeed to turn his back on his home for 6 years , turn his back on thousands of fans who idolised him down at the Lane , then im surprised he wasnt prepared to stay and fight for his place at Anfield . Give up on your dream after 6 months or so , irrespective of how he was treated by Benitez , meh .
Now to the question of it being a good move for us , i loved it when he was here , loved his passion mixed up with some undoubted talent , but he didnt lead us to where we aspired to then , and at best can only see him taking us back to where we were (admittedly thats better than where we are now )but for 16 or 19 m i think we could and should have got better .(ok we might have had to splash out a bit more for arshavin , but in for a penny etc ....). Yes i think his addition , or someone of his ilk , should well make the difference and keep us where we have to be , in the premiership , i just would rather have gone elsewhere or just borrowed him back .
Agree it does take courage to have to so publicly admit you were wrong , but that weight has fallen more on Benitez than keane .
As regards your last point about Campbell , if he wasnt being picked by the arse , and came crawling back , i would have paid his taxi fare to take him straight back to Highbury . Ive said on a similar post that my view could easily be seen as petty and vindictive or an emotional knee jerk reaction , but hey ho , footballs a game of passion .
