palacios £12-14m

Keane £12-15m

Defoe £15m

Chimbonda £3m

Cudicini FREE

thats a total of £42-47m.

at the start we were thinking £15-20m maybe £39m but this is unbelievable!!
AND no players were sold.

could someone that understand how the finances are run enlighten me (expect jrio knows the answers).

Well this is the genius of it!

What happens is, by the time we sell a player we're actually buying them back, and before we have a chance to pay for a player we've bought, we've sold him on somewhere else. We actually only really need 12 pounds 50 and a very clever accountant and, Well that's it really! Simple. :001_smile:

Liverpool owed around £9 million on that transfer I believe, and the deal is an initial £12m so we've only had to pay £3m.

A similar situation with Defoe, I believe Pompey owed some money on that transfer too, obviously not as much as they only paid us £8m or whatever.

Palacios is probably in payments; although we've overpaid for him by about
£6m if the agreed fee is £14m.

Theoretically funding the payments with the massive losses we'd take if we were to go down.

If you think about it Keane has cost us a net spend of £2m over the two signings.

1 - £7m from Leeds
2 - £20m to Liverpool (Profit £13m)
3 - £15m from Liverpool (Net £2m spend)

Not bad. Excellent cover/competition but I want to see Defoe rightly installed back as 1st choice when he's fit.

Selling keane and berba on the last days of the summer transfer brought in 50 million pounds which we have now spent.

We spent like £3m net in the summer ignoring delayed transfer fees.

Accepting delayed transfer fees Pompey and Liverpool still owed us loads so we mostly cancelled the debts, gave them a bit and it was sorted.

I agree. At the start, Levy come out and said Redknapp had 'limilted funds' to spend in January.

palacios £12m(2m add-ons)

Keane £12m(3m add-ons) - 8m recvd, we write off 4m of 11m owed

Defoe £15m - 2m recvd/we write off 7m, 6m paid

Chimbonda £3m - Basically returns for same

Total outlay is 29m(11m of outstanding payments), 2m less than we received for Berba. Further potential payments of up to 5m means it's 34m at most.

If we'd actually used the 50m from selling Berba and Keane to buy replacements last summer, we probably wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

Did Keane, Defoe & Chimbo with Levy all put a huge bet on at the bookies when they'd re-sign. :scared: :001_smile:

you have to remember we signed 15m bentley, 14m pav, 16.5 modric, 7m corluka,9m gomes, 5m gio in the summer even though we gained 50m from keane and berbs
then we spend another 50m!

HMMM no wonder people wonder where we keep getting more cash to spend than the liverpools and arsenals!
you have to love spurs!

3.5m Robbo, 2.5m Gardner, 13m Sunderland 3, 7m Kaboul, 1m Lee, 19m Keane. The 50m(it isn't) is mostly regurgitated from those transfers.

Why have you left out Berbatov?

Why have you left out Berbatov?
Cos Chimbo and Keane were the players in those deals that came back, thus the reference to regurgitation. Berba ain't comin' back. Ever.
