Mark Lawrenson says that he was having a drink with Stevie G, who shares an agent with Robbie Keane, and Lawrenson says that Gerrard says that Keane is on his way.

And what happened to this rule about not signing for a club less than a year after they sold you?
"Keane has struggled since moving to Anfield from Tottenham Hotspur in a projected £20.3 million deal last summer and has been linked with a return to White Hart Lane"

"He thinks he’s going to be moved on.” That's someone very low on confidence talking... nothing set in stone as such.

Keane wouldnt dare come back to the Lane. I would dislike him more if he came back now after what he did.

We don't need him do we, we've got the prolific Russian bloke!

I thought the rule said that you can only play for 2 clubs in any 12 month period, therefore it'd be fine.

would take him back for £7m, a £13m loss for lpool. :001_smile:

I agree Juice. When I read it, I thought "Lawrenson you blabbing c*nt" If Gerrard did say that (which is obviously very doubtful) then why would you go and tell everyone? And if you do have to tell everyone, why do you have to say that Gerrard told you? What a pr*ck.

Just read this in Metro this morning too... and reading it again, I'm confused - is it saying Gerrard thinks he will be moved on, Keane thinks he will be moved on, or the agent thinks he will be moved on? And do you know what... f**k it, I would be happy to have Keano back. The Lane is his spiritual home, he is worshipped there... and we are the only fans that should be singing 'Theres Only One Keano!'

Why does he deserve such a heroes welcome? The guy left us the first moment the big teams came calling, left us when the first team offered more money and spat in the faces of our fans when he handed in that transfer request only a few weeks before he said he wanted to stay for life.

Why should we worship someone who moans (doesn't moan at liverpool does he?) and thinks he should play every game for us and never be subed? Who threw his shirt away when he was subed once? Who left us when defoe left only a couple months previous because robbie was the golden child and would allways have a starting spot.

You don't leave a club that easily if your worshipped and play for a club thats your spiritual home.

He doesn't fit into our plans any more and i would rather us concentrate on players who are willing to play for us.

This isn't a rant at you mathius pal, this is my frustration at robbie keane who thinks he can just walk back wear the number 10 and act like nothing happened.

If he does come back i will never sing his name again. Ive lost respect for him.

Mate, I felt EXACTLY the same as you... FELT being the operable word. I still have a framed pic of him holding the Carling Cup up in my living room... I still wear my Keane shirt... I was/maybe still am gonna name my firstborn Keane ffs! Teddy got his stick for leaving, but was welcomed back with open arms because we are a loyal bunch... we love our players when they give everything for our club - hate them when they leave, and don't want them to succeed anywhere but at the Lane. All our greats have left before to do their thing elsewhere, Hoddle, Waddle, Gazza, Lineker, Sheringham etc... but are all still loved by any Spurs fan. I think Keane leaving divided a lot of fans, I was furious when he left...especially after saying he was staying for life. I guess I'm too forgiving

"All our greats have left before to do their thing elsewhere, Hoddle, Waddle, Gazza, Lineker, Sheringham etc... but are all still loved by any Spurs fan."

There are clear reasons why those players are loved. Some of those players left to save the club, Waddle and particularly Gazza, at a time which pre-figured our financial meltdown. Hoddle was disillusioned with the English game and left for Monaco, whilst Lineker virtually retired in going to Japan. Sheringham's a little different, more respected than loved.

Does anyone know if there any chanting at Berba during the United game? I could only hear booing, which is all that was reported. I get the impression any critical chanting of opposition players is virtually forbidden at the ground in the light of the Campbell furore.

Like I said Jrio, Keano leaving (and possible coming back) really divided a lot of fans. Theres split opinions out there.

Berba was booed throughout... I think Ronaldo got more verbal stick than him!

1000% agree Turkish

Re Jrios list, all those players left in a good natured way and didnt diss Spurs after leaving.
Robbie has bad mouthed Spurs since leaving, and while some of what he said may have a valid point, he can still go **** himself rather than come back here unless he takes a 60% pay cut and doesnt think he owns the place.

This is a really tricky situation to be honest. On the one hand yes, he was a legend for us, had a great bond with the fans, and only left for his boyhood club. He would definately score goals if he came back. On the other, he left us as soon as a big club came calling, and didn't seem to give a **** what happened to us. I personally would welcome him back, but I don't think he'd be regarded as the hero he once was.

17th December 2008, 02:30 PM
We have to remember that football players are ****ing stupid. He made a mistake yeah and I think, if he wanted to come, we should welcome him because as he said he gave us a shitload of loyal years, and could do some more great service and be remembered properly.

Football players are put in a difficult position because they know deep down the only way to get silverware is to join one of the sky four, because all the other good players do it too. If everyone stayed it'd be different but its not. He saw his years counting down and had to jump ship. It was a bit shitty but everyone should get the chance to rectify the mistakes.

Second option of course is to come into a purple patch and win them the title and the champions league.

I would take Robbie back in the blink of an eye. No one has a go at Carrick for going to a bigger club, and he hadn't given us 6 years of service. Robbie is 27 or 28 and saw his last chance to play in the Champions League, and win a Premiership title, he had to take it. I honestly believe he wouldn't have left for United or Chelsea, and definitely not Arsenal. Quality players that love Spurs are hard to come by.

Carrick never commited himself to Spurs or was quoted as saying he would finish his career here...Keane did.

I never hugely rated him and he only started doing really well for us when he was playing with Berbs.

Dont forget we've already 'spent' the £20m we got for him so if Liverpool dont pay us that and send him back instead then we will be unlikely to be able to spend anymore this season

I think the problem was certainly that it came out of the blue and within a few days of saying he loved the club and wanted to stay forever, his head was turned and he was gone. Shocked!
If i was his wife i'd be a bit worried about his commitment to be honest! :sneaky2:

There wasnt a lot of chanting it was mostly booing

http://www.tribalfootball.com/premier-league-rules-halt-possible-tottenham-move-keane-217085

With speculation mounting on whether or not striker Robbie Keane will be moving on from Liverpool, a Premier League rule has cancelled out any move to former club Tottenham.

Rumours are ripe of the Republic of Ireland international heading back to join Harry Redknapp at the Spurs but a Premier League spokesman ruled out the move.

“It is written in section L19 of the Premier League rules that a club which transfers or cancels the registration of a player may not apply to register that player within a year,” the spokesman saids.

“The only exception to that is if it has been made with the prior written consent of the Premier League board.”

Does that mean we can get him back on loan ??

Paper talk mate always silly season around transfer time!! look how many players we were linked with in the summer and we didnt eben go for any of them really so i dont expect the likes of pennant to be coming when we have lennon and bentley makes no sense.

Defoe and Keane will always be linked and i dont want either to be honest they left for a reason.

Johnson i cant see it happening unless we get rid of gunter or hutton or even both makes no sense to be honest.

Thats what I thought about Johnsen, but then it ocurred to me that Corluka may be used as the third choice centre back, so if King is out corluka would partner Woody and Johnsen would slot in at RB. Now that Woody is injured though it changes my mind again, oh I dont know....it is silly season and my head hurts...:cursing:
