The Run In....

With only 5 games left I had a think about how we would do and based on our current form, which is not good but we are pulling out results, at home anyway, I think this is how it might go..

Everton (AWAY), We lose as Everton are too physical
Man Utd (HOME), We win, because we always do well against good teams
Arsenal (AWAY), We lose because Arsenal are still better than us right now
Bolton (HOME), Will be hard but I think we will win it
West Ham (AWAY), We lose, don't know why, just feel we will.

With the above in mind, that gives us a total of 64 points.

It really pains me to say this but I think Arsenal have an easier run in and they are going to pip us.

My prediction is we finish 5th

right well here's my predictions for the remaining games:

EVERTON: win - we always beat everton, always, and this is a must win and the players will know it
MAN UTD: draw - Utd are on top form and are past masters at the catch-up, will be a hard game thus the draw
ARSENAL: draw - not going to beat them away from home and this is too important to lose
BOLTON: win - they're faltering and were at home, will still be a tough game
WEST HAM: draw - west ham will be so up for ruining our CL bid

this 9 point return from 5 games will bring our total to 67 for the season which was enough to finish in the top 4 for the past 2 years, possibly 3 on goal difference. the Man U-Arsenal game today will be the key.

It is. Arsenal play us between their champs league legs so chances are players will be rested etc. Utd will be tough, but our home form is very good. If anything i don't see why we can't draw that. The others are games we should be winning really if we intend to become one of the top 5 teams in the country.

Blackburn has a nicer run in, but we should JUST take fifth place off them, with Bolton's hard run in making them sixth. Arsenal should finish 4-5 points above us, IF they continue their great form, hopefully the Champions league will affect them..

Fifth position would still be extrodinary.

I'd just like to remind you that you predicted the Blackburn - Wigan result after the game had been played... Plus I was right about us losing to Newcastle :p

For me I think 10 points will be enough to take 4th place. If we were to do it, my predictions would be as follows:

Everton: Win 1-2
Man Utd: Lose 0-1
Arsenal: Draw 1-1
Bolton: Win 2-0
West Ham: Win 1-0

(NB I'm still being a pessimistic Spurs fan because in reality I think we'll lose all our remaining games...)

i think the arse will get 4th as they have a very east run in but blackburn have a worse one than us, with liverpool and chelsea to play, plus birmingham last day of season at st andrews, i believe.

Why are so many people optimistic about beating Man Utd?
This is a team with 8 straight premier league victories, and the way we've been playing they will tear us apart. I say a draw at BEST - and that would be a great result.

Ideal situation? Arsenal lose the first leg, rest players to make sure of victory in the return, we spank them 0-3 and destroy their confidence, ensuring they go out of the CL and finish 7th.

I still say if we can snatch 4th place, Barcelona will take Arsenal apart in the final, if they can defeat Riqueme and co.
