the vote wasnt about whether he is a spoilt prick.
it was about who the best player in the world was last year.
I think nearly everyone thinks he was the best in the world last season.
messi is a better player but injuries destroyred his chance of winning it.
congrats to ronaldo. very suprised at how jealos people are of him. I dont like the fact he goes to groud easily (so do our golden generation of england players gerrard, rooney etc) but in terms of ability he was the best.
you have to respect and admire talent if you are a football fan IMO

your talking rubbish mate. In all honesty you would support him.
I heard **** all from our supporters when zokora dived against pompey. when the penalty was awarded and subsequently scored not 1 supporter booed.
I think bale also dived in the penalty box this season but again we wont criitcise him because he plays for us.
Stop trying to take the moral high ground because you are making yourself look hypocritical.

I was having a laugh before you start preaching to me about moral high grounds, and no, I genuinely don't like the bloke so don't start telling me I'm talking rubbish. Even if he was wearing a spurs shirt it wouldn't mean I would support him

And he's never done it since. Admittedly he hasn't been seen in the opponents area since but nevertheless.

No, but that has to be part of any criteria for judging a player. What I mean by that is, a man who is constantly whining, diving and making a meal of every time he is touched is not a great man. And becoming a great player who is admired is also about character.
Example:
I mean you see some of the depths of character on the pitch of an Best, Essien, Maradona or a Keane and you are astounded with their strength and bravery, the attitude as much as anything. Okay Maradona had his moments but he also carried teams on his back with his force of will and genius which is the bust of what I am talking about.
I've never seen Ronaldo do that or rarely anyway. He probably deserves it this because his team won (which appears to be the way it is always judged) and he was such a match winner, but his general play often leaves a huge amount to be desired.
He's very self indulgant for one thing, often runs down blind alleys and when he's having a bad night he starts rolling around and whining at the ref and teamates instead of rolling his sleeves up getting stuck in and being a great team player and coming out the other side himself too.
Until he is a better man, less arrogant and has better general play/football brain he won't ever be a great player in the bastians of history like Maradona, Best, Pele, Zizou and so on.
He also has a very long string of unimpressive big game performances to his name, probably because his biggest weapons are getting acres and being able to run, shoot and head at will, which he is brilliant at.
Just don't expect to hear any of this on sky four, they are just interested in hype and selling their products, prem and cl. Even the Beeb can't remove their members from his latin anus.
I find it a bit disconcerting, but then we are lucky over here to have real commentators and they probably go too far, lol, (probably because of the attitude on english tv) and rip into him every time they get an opportunity (and he gives many, especially in big games, which they cover).
If sky four and the beeb only knew how many more viewers they had if they brought over the rte team. People are as interested in the analysis over here as the games as it is that good and that good to watch.
Having said all of that he deserves this years award.

Ok maybe good enough but some think he is over priced/will take time to adapt(27 years old)/ not needed or a combination.
I think some on here are saying we dont need the 6th best player in the world because we have modric who has played well as a second striker(and nearly everyone thinks he cant play cm).
I happen to disagree because I think modric can play cm and arshavin would be a brilliant second striker.
Is any of the above not true turkish if so what part.

agree with you choda he would struggle just like henry has if joined real madrid. well maybe not as bad as henry but he wont e as good as he is in england.
torres is another example he wasnt recognised as the best centre forward or even in the top 5 but as soon as he is playing in england he is rated as the second best player in the world.
Its all about the style of play/tactics employed.
after all that you did agree with me

Its just not the same when Zokora dives, and when the b*tch dives... NOT THE SAME
After his "Im the first, second, and third player in the world" interview, oh well lets be honest, after the portugal-england match, he is and will always be a bitch, an he'll never be a star like Zidane, Messi, Kaka, not to talk about "older" legends (though Messi and Kaka are still not legends)
EDIT: Ronaldo can suck a pickle, i wouldn't want him here, but, i would go for Keira!

And secondly, who the **** are you, and when did you all of a sudden think you can overrun this site with your judgements of other peoples opinions?

calm down mate I am not judging him I am disagreeing with his opinion:001_rolleyes:
all I am saying is nearly every spurs fan would accept ronaldo would improve our team.
denying this is just plain crazy. I was suprised by his view and my reaction was a bit strong but surely its about wanting whats best for spurs.
I'm sure marlow wasnt hurt or offended by my comments and if he was I am sorry. As he hasnt responded I can assume I didnt hurt his feelings.
the discussion is old news now move on mate.
