I was just talking to a mate of mine who's a football writer and he's heard the rumours of Mansion being in talks with Spurs and thinks the deal would be £70million over 5 years.

Jol wants to bring in two fullbacks, a wide midfielder and 2 strikers, the names are guessable!

Mido wants to sign but will be 4th choice if Jol gets the man he wants who is thought to be Dirk Kuyt of Feyenoord but Newcastle are prepared to offer massive money to get him.

Do you think the Mido deal is stalling because he wants to know who jol is bringing in? Is he likely to stay if he's going to be pushed down the pecking order? A happy Mido is a decent player with the best ahead of him, an unhappy Mido will be a tubby one!!

No, I think the only reason Mido has not signed yet is because there was an option to buy him once his loan expired. No point paying cash in advance when we don't need to. I don't believe for one minute a deal was agreed before we even took him on loan.

All the recent talk was his agent trying to get his percentage of the deal early.

i would absolutely love to tie up a deal with Mansion, it would show critics that we are the big club we've been saying we are. it would also be the more upmarket sponsor i said i would prefer. and £70million, we should pull out all the stops to tie up this deal. imagine the players we could buy with that, or it would be a great starting block for a new stadium or a redevelopment.

on the player front i would like us to tie up the Mido deal before the transfer window opens and id like Calum Davenport to stay.

i'm not bothered about mido either way, he just doesn't seem to be able to get his act together for me. Was lucky not to get booked for his hand ball yesterday when he could actually have stuck his head in and chased after the ball. Think his attitude has slipped since the african nations. I've seen kuyt play quite a few times on the channel 5 broadcasts. He can hold it up well, but i don't think we'll get any value on him. For me ashton is just as good and will probably prove much cheaper, shame we missed out. If brummies go down wonder if we'll chase heskie (gulp). We've had plenty of time to sort our striker targets out, and i think we'll have one set up already.
After seeing him buy two more mids and the awful rasiak, i'm still dubious about who we'll get.

brummies down? I'd rather have Forsell...

Don't ask me why but i've a strange feeling we'll go for Quintin Fortune. Hope not but his contract is up and he is meant to be a Spurs fan...???

Anyway back to who I actually want at the club, we've been linked with a lot of strikers since Santini, Jol and the other one, the more 'upmarket' players (Berbatov, Torres, van Nis, Ronaldo to name a few) I think it's about time the Club actually went for a big name, I mean who wouldn't want Ronaldo wearing lilywhite? Or Ibrahimovic or Shevchenko? Ok ok the last two are just my dream world but still my point is a BIG name...........

And yes we did miss out on Ashton. At the time I thought '7 and half mill you crazy!?!?', but he is a good player and maybe a cheeky bid would be a good idea?

Dean Ashton has done very well since his move - I too thought he was too expensive, but actually he's scored a lot of goals and looked very powerful up front (what we need). Don't think Spam will sell him...

i agree that 7.5m seems a lot and a risk on norwich form. I don't think kuyt is worth much more though. he reminds me of mark hughes. If you were looking around the english league for a big bruiser heskie is the only one that i think might want to move. Harewood might be going spare but i don't think he'll improve any. Jason roberts looks a good striker but wigan i'm sure won't sell and he's getting on in years. It's a toughie.

if its a big english bruiser were after to lead the line then i think there are many many people worth a shout but very few that are available. if we could have our pick then maybe Harewood or Beattie would be good buys but all things considered i think its probably Heskey, i'd rather him not come to the lane, prefer Jon Carew anyday but hes alright

With it being a World Cup year it's going to be a crazy time in the transfer market. The tournament always throws up a few surprises in the way of unknowns who showcase themselves. I think Kuyt is going to be prominent but some big clubs are sniffing around. We need to offer Champions League competion to be inticing to guys to come here. Although Jol plays it down a CL spot will accelerate the growth of the club.

Or set us back somewhat should we fail miserably ala Everton.

There are many many strikers throughout europe who I think are availible, we shouldn't be looking for just English because those mentioned are all useless, hence they are not in the England squad.

Andy Johnson is one who springs to mind but has not been mentioned, not necessarily in the 'bruiser' mould. I think Pippo, Ronaldo, Vieri are all up for grabs in terms of older experienced players. Anyone know how long Vieri signed to Monaco for?
