View Full Version : 2 Referee's?

This morning Sepp Blatter has announced that he is looking to experiment with using TWO REFEREES in matches. He claimed that with the game getting quicker it is harder to keep up, he also said that having a second ref would erradicate errors and reduce the possibility of controversy. ALthough on the plus side he wants to introduce a THREE YELLOW CARD = 1 GAME BAN at the next world cup, rather than the traditional two.
Surely one referee is enough!!

Sepp Blatter is dumb a$$.... 2 refs......... damm why can't we just have a video ref... and also have panel to check over incidents after the game e.g. diving, violent acts(e.g Figo's headbutt) and then punish people who have commited these later.

another stupid feking idea from the professor of stupid ideas , at the stupid university , stupidland .
do they have 1/2 pitch each , if something happens in the semi circle and they cant agree are they gonna have a punch up ............................... hold on this actually could catch on .

yeh agree Marcusto, at first some matches will be spoilt as there will be fouls etc missed ,as there are already, but when the first wave of post match punishments are dealt out, the players etc will realise that no more crap will be taken and in time there wont be any bad stuff done as they will all be dealt with .
thing is the punishment needs to hit hard, longer suspensions and serious points deductions that even Chelsea cant recover from , not money , is the way to punish

the players and staff, and fans need to know that any and all transgressionsa re going to be severely dealt with. ie Figos butt , its a joke that cos the ref messed up no one can now do anything, thats a dumbass rule that has to be changed NOW!!!
ROanldo three dives no booking, watch them see them as balatant give hima suspension. Even cards that are given can be removed after the game surely , refs arent infallible so back them up, help them out, dont worry about overturning a decsion if its the right thing to do, in time that wont be seen as a slant on the officials but as a huge step in the right direction.
there should be more than a yellow and red card, 5 , 10 more minutes sin bin offences should be brought in, that would be great 11 v 10 for 5 minutes can you make it count, then let the real punishment be decided after the game when all seeing the evidence are cooler and theres no pressure on the decision makers like there is on the refs
Injuries, get them off the field to be treated , keep the game going as they are taken off whenever possible, youll find most of them thebn arent injured that bad after all and you will know who really needs help and when .
extra time then set pieces rather than pens. corner from each side, free kick from each side and one from around the D then pens if stil llevel. 6 attackers v 5 defenders and keeper. line across the pitch 35 yards out from the goal line, the defence have to get the ball across that line for the play to end, until it does the attackign team keep trying to score from the original set piece, that 35 yd line can also double up as the new offside line so freeing up more space in midfield for people to play football . Any fouls commited in the set pieces part wil lbe dealt with by missing the rest of that set piece and maybe the next depending on severity of the foul
football can be sooo simple to make so great, shame Blatters in charge and we onyl get a handful of games as good as Italy v Germany

that's a good idea about the set pieces, there was so much wrestling going on at the free kicks and corners last night. If you make stricter guidelines the players will play ball. As for the world cup, i think teams should have their world rankings affected for diving, cheating, play acting. It's usually sides with a history of it and they will have to stop if they want to be in easy groups for the world cup.

Well said mjbmedia. In addition to your suggestion of alternatives to Penalty shootouts i'd like to see a Ice-Hockey style shoot out. With the penalty taker dribbling from the centre circle with say 20 seconds to beat the keeper, rebounds would be allowed.

Absolute nonsense!Football is & must remain a simple game easily understood by all.
You are doing a Blatter, interfere with short term answers, when no answers are required.
In Top level football,ie Premier leagues & national tournaments the only thing we need to do is use technology during(was the ball over the line) & after(video judgement by appointed officials to agree disagree red, yellow cards or missed offences by the referee).
Please leave the game alone,as last nights game showed it is a wonderful thing to watch & be involved in.

Sorry both didnt mean to confuse, para 2 & 4 are what i disagree with, the rules are already in place for foul play & if after each game they are looked at by people with the power to increase or decrease the penalty then very soon a lot of the diving, cheating & dying swan acts will disappear.
Penalties are a fair & simple way of deciding the result of a drawn knockout game & dont need the complication of any of the methods you suggest. That we are useless at them is beside the point.
With regard to injuries there are only 2 choices, treat them with the game going on around them(as in rugby)or stay as we are no matter how annoying that may be otherwise litigation will follow.

Can't do with 2 refs as no two person see an incident in the same light. So someone is bound to be agrieved as a foul deemed by one ref is let go by the other. The present system still ensure that both teams are controlled by the same ****ing idiot.

no theyre not, its one person representing the whole team, and you reckion thats fairer than doing set pieces where pretty much the whole team will be involved either attacking or defending the set pieces.
Ok its a new idea (possibly) so there will be many against the change, but IMO its miles better than one guy having to take all that responsibilty , its supposed to be a team game is it not?
Re the injuries a few years ago players were removed from the pitch to be treated, now this isnt the case, ok i get the bit about litigation so lets treat them while the game continues, im sure theyll move soon enough if A) theyre missing the action and B) the action gets too close to them for comfort. WHen they dont move then you know its serious so then put it out. I get fed up of the ball being kicked off for an injury thats not even hurting, its only good when they dont give the ball back like Holland, they had the right idea.

i quite like the idea of a sin bin for a bookable offence ,and a video ref (if you want to call him that ,) as a season long experiment but wouldnt dabble around with all the other stuff of taking players off , drawing lines across the pitch etc .

Blatter is an idiot and football just needs to use video technology to punish cheaters. Penalties are a fair way of settling games after 2 hours of play, there's no need to start drawing dumbass lines across the pitch and turning football into ice hockey without the ice.

the mear thought of 2 refs just oozes inconsistancy. if he's worried about them not being able to keep up just;
make refereeing a full time not part time job so its their main focus.
make ex-professionals referee's, they know the tricks of the trade and should still be fit enough to keep up with the pace of the game (count out Matt Le Tissier then)
