Bring 'em on! We're scoring goals again, with Bent and Pav finding their confidence and finding the target at last. Man City played some nice stuff last night, but are really suspect at the back. Robinho and SWP are the threats to look for, we really need to focus on our left wing for their attacks; Bale and Ekotto again I'll wager.
If King starts then Robinho will struggle for space, but he's so good that if he's in the mood he can destroy us for fun. Also, they have quite a lot of indiviuals, and while they tried alot of nice creative stuff, 90% of the moves ended in a loose pass or a break down in communication, and they surrendered possession very easily.
Modric has to start in the middle, so expect a 4-5-1 again... most likely Bent starting up top, with Modric supporting and JJ / Hudd in the centre. Naturally Bentley will be RW, and Bale LW as already suggested. Expect Hutton, Woody, King and... actually Corluka at LB?

They are gonna be hyped up at home having lost their last game to Bolton! :scared: They'll provide a stern test for our lads, but with us brimming with confidence and pride again, it'll be an entertaining feat to watch. I say 2-2, Robinho and Wright-Phillips, who'll absolutely destroy the right wing, especially if BAE is playing, will score for them, and the goals from us will come from Bent and Pavy. :thumbup1:

If King plays then bring em on. They can easily be got at despite their strengths going forward - they remind me of us in many ways - when King aint playing and we had Berba and Keane in the side.
I am going for a 1-1. Ireland for them and Modric for us. To be honest I would be happy with a point...keeps Harry's unbeaten record going...:001_smile:

We're scoring, they're scoring. We've got a half decent defence if King is fit (unless BAE has one of his "moments") but the dodgiest keeper on these shores since Bruce the Zimbabwean was on the take (I am still dubious about Rocket Ronnies hattrick at the Dell of those years ago). They've got such illustrious defenders as Garrido and Ben Haim.
I think goals are in the offing for both sides. Can we keep up our "goal of the season contender in every game" record? So goals, lots of them, end to end, crap defending, Robinho to make himself dizzy by stepping over the ball so many times he falls over.
You just know it's going to be 0-0 now :001_huh:

I don't think there as good as they think they are. There dodgy at the back just like us and try and fit all there attacking players on the field at once. Kompany is key for them and his missing. Robinho and swp are quality players so we need to be careful.
Our fullbacks have been shite this season, they have two good wing men, they have a soft midfield i can see a 2.2.
Bent and mod to score for us. Swp and robinho for them. Or that ireland geezer.

Yea, Tottenham should be able to get this one.. Man. City defense is absolute rubbish right now.. the confidence is up, and we need 2 keep dat going for as long as possible... i want to say a win, but a draw looks the outcome most likely. In fairness though another point is better than I would have hoped ten days ago. If we play a solid game it could easily be a 0-2 to us, but they are good going forward. Their defense isn't great so it's up to our boys to bring us off the bottom. Crazy to Think Bolton are ninth tonight after being down with us a week ago. We can keep this going and just need to hit the net when the chances come....Bent is finally starting to show the prem what he is about, I hope he gets another one tomorrow.

All of our players have been performing well. Jenas is fit since that Arsenal game from when he had a toe injury and scored one of the goals of the season, But Huddlestone had a brilliant game against Zagreb. So who do you play? Bent and Pavlyuchenko are confident and both on target, which one of them would you play? I would still defantely still play the 4-5-1 formation.

Hell, I'll be happy to get the win, that means we're likely in 16th and only 2 points out of the top half. :w00t: We'd pass Sunderland and West Brom for sure, and at least be on level pegging with Wigan. If Fulham wins, then we move past the Geordies. If the Geordies win, then we move past Fulham. If they draw, then unless we win by 3 goals, we're still behind on goal difference. Best we can be now is 16th, worst is a tie for 17th.

Some good performances out there today.
Including Gomes at the forefront after all the criticism, most of it absurd by the way. We would not have won this game or pool without his class saves. Completely different class to Robbo, just needed to settle down a bit, get back to how he was playing and work on the things he needs to improve, but I think very highly of him and think he could be really very good for us. He was noticably much calmer today, adjusting to the English game and making better decisions on when to come and when to stay back.
He will be worth many points per year compared to lesser keepers and certainly the worst keeper in the league, fat Robbo, who is still doing the delayed reaction late dives, nervously staying back all the time and so on. He's utterly useless, painfully crap.
Gomes on the other hand makes save after save, has great presence and isn't afraid. He has all the ability, just needed to adjust, get over his injury, make better decisions and so on.
I believe the injury was the main reason for the problems with high balls, that and adapting. He was fine before the injury. He was excellent today, excellent.

When Redknapp took over,we had four difficult league games in front of us and all I expected from them was a draw against Bolton. But ten points from twelve is fantastic and with Fulham and Blackburn next, the momentum is with us.
I couldn't care less if Zokora had one of his better games today.Nothing will convince me that he will improve.Same with BAE.Jenas and Bentley had an unspectacular though solid match, but Bentley's crossing was mostly poor.Taking off Modric was a mistake that could have cost us,but at the moment the luck is with us.

i didnt quote it all but from that we assume that Gomes is your new Spurs fancy man, following the departures of Davids, Keane and Ramos? :scared:
If thats the case, god help him ,your track record isnt that great mate :001_smile:
Seriously tho, yeh i agree, i like him, like the fact he comes out for crosses, they all done good,BAE was the worst, Hudd was a bit leaden at times, Modric showed good and it was wrong to take him off but understandable and correct to bring Lennon on, id have taken Hudd off then and made JJ and Zok stay at home and had Mod,Bent,Len and Bentley controlling the ball away from our goal, but im not moaning at Harry.
Weve got a run of games V bottom half of table so not only can we get three points in them but also leap frog those we play, and we're out of bottom three unless Fulham draw

It's been an amazing couple of weeks. Yeah, we are riding it a little at the moment but there is a real belief that we can go to places and play. The league is looking amazing at the moment and I'd rather be in spurs' position than some of the other clubs. We could only get better and some have already over achieved. We are also not out of it so just need to plug away and keep on getting the points quickly. The Fulham game is going to be very tight but if we can stay focussed and win then this will have to be one of the best periods of play we've had in years and I say that in context of what was going on until two weeks ago with two points! I'd rather have a good run in the league and be stable than beat Liverpool in the cup and lose next weekend....well; hang on, here's to a good run in the cup! :001_smile:

who played well?
Gomes, Charlie (as ever), Zokora had a better than usual game(!), Bent obviously with another couple of cracking finishes, and Huddlestone did well too. Others weren't so great, and others were solid but average or a little above.
The injury which, if he makes a mistake on Wed or next week, will be back again I suspect?
I obviously hope you're right, but from a keepers point of view he was making elementary errors (plural) every few minutes! We know he can save. Although he did choose not too for a couple matches (near postage I'm talking here).

Great win. We look like we have some character about us for a change. Zokora did have a better game for us and we need more of that from him. Modric played some nice stuff and when he scores I think he will really come out of is shell. Bent took his chances expertly and finally looks confident infront of goal, long may that continue..:001_smile:
If we beat Fulham next week, and with two home games to follow, we are right back in the mix to have a decent season.

Having seen the highlights last night I am amazed that some pundits thought that the Man City red cards were harsh. Dunne was a little unlucky but he was the last man and thus had to go. Fernandes deserved a red card for the Modric foul alone (I bet half the ground bought his brilliant piece of skill) and then to lunge at Bentley the way he did, what did he expect a pat on the back and an arm around the shoulder.

I was amazed at Zokora in this game. He played like when I first saw him in the WC and he impressed me then. He suddenly could control the ball and pass it cleanly. And much like against Zagreb he was making noticable interceptions, keeping SWP quiet and doing a fine job for the team. He was actually influential, as was Hudd who is developing as a midfielder. He's still a bit centre halfish but my word has that boy got talent and he is looking for the ball off the defenders getting it, passing it, get it back again and so on. And when he sees an incisive pass he can hit it and often put it on a sixpence.
Wohay, finally getting how a midfielder with passing like his can start to influence the game. And that also means that when we press up and get some qualtiy possession he can also get those shooting boots on following up from deep. A big weapon.
Hudd is clearly the best of the central midfielders we play. If Harry can do that with him and Zok, I'd imagine he could work wonders with JoH, whom I rated as the best previous to Harry. He is the only one in the previous regime that had an all round amazing performance (v Arsenal on his debut) and was still trying to always do the right things.
Actually Tainio had three very good games around that time in a different way as an efficient sweeper in front of the back four, but that's another debate as he is never fit.
Jenas as is usually the case is still crap but fricking good in the final third. Is he a striker? Could be, he's good up there, just pathologically shit in the position he is supposed to be playing.

What I would say is, if you are on a yellow and you do late highish challenge on a guy that is away and heading dangerously towards goal then you are giving the ref a decision to make. A decision that you can't be fuming about if it goes against you. And Dunne was last man and had the worst game I've ever seen him have, he was awful.
Ekotto needs to be shot. He's the dumbest player we've ever had. I'd prefer to have Edinborough. He's out of position regularly and liable to lose the head and do something stupid on the ball or with a tackle as well. Just an awful player.

I think the only reason Harry keeps playing him is his ability to put in dangerous crosses which he does sometimes, like yesterday...brillant ball but Bent couldn't quite meet it with a full connection. Aside from that he was horrific, his positional sense is the worst I have ever seen in a full back - he is that bad. So am afraid the odd decent cross is nowhere near enough to offset the lack off basic skills required to defend competently. First and foremost a full back should be sound defensively.

I have never understood why so much disgust is directed towards BAE on this forum. I have always thought that he was a fairly average, but capable player. Until yesterday. Oh my god he was absolutely horrendous, it was a horror show. How many times was he about 10 yards further forward than the rest of our defence, or get breezed round as if invisible? What the f*ck was he doing on his arse for their goal? And why the f*ck did he get such an absurd red card, kicking the ball away is the world's dumbest booking, and his second one (when we're trying to withstand some late pressure and we need everyon to be focussing) was a truly pathetic attempt at a tackle. rant over :cursing:

Well Bale has question marks defensively, but at least his positioning is better than Benny's and of course when he's in form we all know what he can offer going forward. Jesus even Ohara would be better at the moment at LB. Corluka faired well in the second half against Pool at LB.

BAE is one Fvcked up individual he actually has no interest in the game only sees it as a job hence the dopey expressionless look on his face when he plays. He could be so good hes dynamic going forward can deliver a super ball but gives the ball away like its going out of fashion and is totally incapable of picking up wingers was at fault for kuyts goal against pool. Bale, Gilbert, O'Hara, Gunter, Corluka... anyone who has shown anything at left back really.
Bale is young and has made a few mistakes, but he is arguably the best potential in world football, give him experience and he will develop or else move him into midfield.
Gilbert is a 42 caps for Brazil man, fan's favourite in Berlin. Obviously a fine player that hasn't really gotten a chance. May have had adapting issues, but I don't know why he gets ignored for a tramp like Ekotto.
O'Hara, not his ideal position, or is it? Two of Jamie's best games were United away and for the under 21's v Wales and both were at left back. A versatile player in a different league to accident and emergency.
Gunter is solid player, right footed but won't let you down. Same with Corluka, in fact Corluka is likely to have a blinder. One of the most naturally gifted defensive players you will ever see.
Ekotto doesn't even have passion for football. How the hell are you going to develop if you don't watch games, think about the game and have a passion for being a top player?

Yes he isn't great defensively and isn't quick, but without doubt the best distributer of a football we have. If others areas of his game can be improved then we might have a realy player on our hands. I fully expect Huddlestone to go from strength to strength under the guise of Redknapp, Sherwood et al.

I said that its very difficult to compete with the top 4 and that includes their midfields. I didn't specifically say the Hudd was a million miles off, but in some respects he is though. I am simply saying that his passing and vision is excellent when he is on form, and for me when he's playing well he's the best we have at spraying and spreading the ball about.
Modric and Corluka are excellent in their own rights. Coruka would be great in the DM role for away games in particular I think. Classy player and very strong on the ball, but the Hudd has exceptional ability when he is on top form - we need to see more of that.
I am not comparing these players directly or saying any of them are better than the other, as they all offer a combination of various qualities. What I am saying is when the Hudd is on form - for me he is the best distributor of a football we have not necessarily the best player we have. I mean Modric was class on Sunday and was my man of the match but he provides more than just an ability to pass well. Huddlestone's biggest weapon is his passing, no doubt about that. Think about if he didn't pass well how the hell would be playing in a premiership side anyway?

I certainly would like to see Corluka given a go in the DM role. I think you have misunderstood what I am talking about. I am just saying that when the Hudd is on song he is the best passer we have, that doesn't mean to say that he's a given as he is too inconsistent at the moment - a disease we all know about all to well. Corluka would be a million times better at the defending anyway, all these things are weighed up and thats how a good manager earns his dollars...:001_smile:
I see the Hudd getting better and going from strength to strength under the new regime, thats all I am saying and I think he has a big future if he has the appetite for it.

I said that its very difficult to compete with the top 4 and that includes their midfields. I didn't specifically say the Hudd was a million miles off, but in some respects he is though. I am simply saying that his is passing and vision is excellent when he is on form, and for me when he's playing well he's the best we have at spraying and spreading the ball about.
I mean Modric was class on Sunday as was my man of the match but he provides more than just an ability to pass well. Huddlestone's biggest weapon is his passing, no doubt about that. Think about if he didn't pass well how the hell would be playing in a premiership side anyway?
But it's still a bit centre halfish, even with the wonderful technique, two feet etc. You are right in one way, but Corluka is a class passer and he has the all round comfort in possession to truly dominate a game and possibly be one of the best around. He's also more mobile and I'd say far better at reading it and intercepting in midfield. I'm guessing, but I feel it's an educated guess, he really is so talented it's frightening.

Mate not disagreeing with that at all. The thing is I wasn't debating from a Corluka v Hudd point of view I was simply saying that when the Hudd is on form he has a fantastic passing range, and the best at the club in my opinon. However Corluka would most likely be the better choice overall considering the qualities he has - A more complete option if you like. I love the look of Charlie and he looks awsome but I dont think he would be as good as the Hudd (when playing well) at spotting and executing a glorious pass. But like I said it wasn't one against the other I was debating.

He isn't, and nor can he hit a ball with the power and accuracy at goal of Hudd. But I don't see Hudd as mainly a defensive player, which Corluka is.

Yes that is what I was trying to say but didn't say! If the Hudd could run he could effectively eliminate Jenas from the side.

I still dont think hudds is as good as you think he is mate he just looks good in our midfield considering who we have. He constantly got raped against arsenal, didnt do much against liverpool no doubt will egt killed when man utd come to town.
Im sick of the enigma that is JJ i think he should deffo be playing off bent further up the pitch as shown by his hold up play for dazzla's goal.
