yeah ive seen a couple of these reports. they came close to signing him before we did but pulled out for some reason. surely carrick is not stupid enough to want a move to arsenal, possibly man-ure, possibly madrid but not arsenal, even though he's a geordie he wouldnt be that thick

I'd say let the highest bidder have him.

Totally agree, but I think that Carrick will stay put.

Don't think so. Otherwise he'd have spoken amidst all the speculation.

I suspect it was a way to get more money as greedy as it may seem. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he was acting on advice from his agent to hold out till after the world cup and maybe some good performances so he could ask for more money after.

I still think (and hope) he will be with us. He'll have been advised by his agents to keep schtum til after his involvement in the WC so he goes into any negotiations with his strongest hand.
As has already been stated here, we don't need the money and we need all the quality we can get for what will hopefully be a fixture-heavy campaign..

i don't know how I feel about selling players just because the offer is good. Yes I know it's a business but look at Everton. Sold Rooney for a fortune, bought some half price plodders and struggled. It's always a gamble giving up quality players unless you have to.

everton actually did better the season after rooney left i think because everything previously was geared to go through him and so therefore teams could work on nullifying his threat and therefore stop everton ,spurs have a lot more dangerous alternatives but i agree with the general point dont selll good players just because the offer is good , we dont need to .

thanks for pointing this out but i was refering to their general decline and especially early elimination from european competition. not something we should emulate IMO.

Totally agree with you, pure speculation, I don't think that Martin Jol would let Carrick go and i think that Levy will do all he can to keep Carrick at the Lane.

Totally agree, we don't need to sell him and levy and jol should do everything they can to stop it happening, however, never again should we lose a player of such quality and in his prime for NOTHING!
