Why are we still playing 4-5-1?

i understand the fact that playing reverse flank gives an advantage for the winger to get a shot off anything...which is an amazing formation to play if we do not have any striker. but hte problem is that even after we play this formation, we still lose..so why arent we trying 4-4-2? everything when 1 of our players get sent off and we are force to revert to 4-4-1, the offense flowed so much better...they say pav and bent couldnt play together..then we cant we make them learn to play with each other? why are we still trying to a formation we cannot win instead of making a gamble that might let us score some goes?

I totally agree with you. As soon as the formation is announced before the game that it is 4-5-1, you can kind of guess the outcome of the game. We have 3 strikers on our bench right now, Bent who can score goals given the chance, Pavlyuchenko who needs to be given a bit of a chance, and Campbell who shows so much promise and potential when he plays. The 4-5-1 really is the death to our game right now and it needs to be sorted and scrapped, as it is the glue that keeps us to the bottom of the table imo. It really is pointless playing one up-front if there is no way of getting the ball to them and keeping it up there, another striker needs to be working alongside(Campbell by Bent) to add firepower and strength, as our midfield is very lightweight at the moment.

Looks like we got the wrong russian OR more likely we wanted to pair pav with arshavin.

I wish I knew the answer. Its a lot more complicated than just picking a formation.

The players need to be CONFIDENT and show their abilty.

Yes i know that 4-4-2 didn't work for that time around, and i know our problems lie a lot further beyond our team formation, but i'm just saying that it's another option we have that we can try. I mean if it gets worked at, then i think it looks promising, as we've tried and tested 4-5-1 many times and it hasn't worked for us at all well, so what i'm saying is if we see if this works, you never know it might help us a little more, and our players might fit to it a bit better.

Well, if another member had already sent one PM to Neil, what's the point in keep pestering him with the same request, as like i say, it just fills his inbox. And people may need to PM him for other reasons, like reporting someone, or requesting help, new name etc.
