Of all the strikers that moved on from last year, I so much would love us to go get Jermain back.
He was hard done by at Spurs, and after seeing him on fire for Pompy he is the one player I would love to see come back, he looked fantastic both tonight and at the weekend now he's getting a regualr run out.
I always rated him over Keane, he makes fantastic runs and even looks like he's improved his ball holding ability. Come on Levy get an offer 'Arry a straight swap deal of Bent for Daffy
I'd also like another JD, a bottle of it to forget that bloody first half

I was always disappointed that Defoe left. He is going through a good patch at the moment but I'm sure he will go through his usual dry patch at some point this season.
I'd have him back but I certainly wouldn't swap him for Bent. Sooner or later some fans will need to accept that Bent needs a full season playing regularly to be judged.

Defoe must be so, so gutted. He kept saying how much he loved the club and I believe him. He comes so close to signing a new contract but how can he do it with Keane in front of him, at least Defoe showed ambition.
Then we sell Keane and he's stuck at the south coast not even allowed to play in the formality that was on the FA cup final.

Do you think Defoe might sign back to Tottenham if he knows the state we are inn?

thank you, thank you, thank you. How many people will bitterly complain that defoe needed more game time, while at the same time slating Darren Bent? And what do you know, he's played five and scored three. Amazing.

Should be four because that disallowed goal was definitely onside.

I thought JJ was good tonight, more of that please and is it too much too hope that he could actually add to that performance putting in some hard tackles, winning the ball, starting attacks from it and controlling the passing and possession?
Then we would have a real player. This is my point, not picking on him in particular, the only cm we have that has impressed me in a spurs shirt is Jamie O'Hara and we don't f*cking play him.

My only fault with jamie is he switches off at times and let opposition run ahead of him. I actually do think he is a good player and warrants a start but than zokora has done well of late to be fair.
I was wrong about jamie and i hope he goes on to improve every aspect of his game.

In the end maybe but I don't think that is a fair comment generally. You can't expect him to sign a contract when he wants to play football and there are two better players ahead of him now and for the foreseeable future.

Don't agree and there no evidence in that claim mate, levy/comolli wanted defoe to stay and ramos/jol wasn't bothered. Defoe stayed in that summer because it was thought berba was gonna go to united than when jol left defoe thought he maybe given a chance by ramos which wsn't the case.
Than harry wanted defoe and defoe jumped at the chance, thats why he didn't sign a contract he would of signed a contract if he was at least 3rd choice imo.
Good move for him but i never saw the logic in selling him when berba was going in the summer.

I like JD and i wanted him to stay but he would not sign a new contract. If the club didn't want him, why did they offer him a new contract ? Just to sit him on the bench ? or to stop other clubs from having him ? That doesn't make sense. Harry was the only one to make an offer. Why?

Because his overall game so far in his career has not been good enough for clubs better than that.

I don't agree with any of you guys. Defoe is top notch and one of the best finishers around. Crouch said he is the best finisher he has seen in the 12 yard box and he has played with owen, torres and rooney.

If Defoe really wanted to stay at Spurs he would have signed the contract and proved to Ramos and Co, thet he would have continued to fight for his place, he gave up because he knew that Berba/Keane were first choice and that Bent reads the game much better than Defoe could, BTW he scored one, missed quite a few chances and missed a penalty last night.

Problem is, not producing outstanding performances for Spurs is not always a good way to judge a player. As we have often found.

In some perfect world yes, he would have signed anyway, but the lad has England ambitions and you can only 'fight' for so long before a frankly sideways move to a good Portsmouth side looks too good to refuse.
My point was that it'd be nice to have him now and I'm sure he'd play, making his transfer fairly ridiculous.

Not really Juice, if you are played in your proper position and get a good long run of games then it's a fair judge. How could it not be, unless you are in a truly useless team like Derby.

Funny thing is I agree with Crouch, but you have to have the ability to find the spaces and create spaces for others to be one of the best forwards around. I would never argue that he isn't one of the best finishers around.

well i don't know that the pompey fans would be delighted to hear him say something like" JD is ok, but torres, rooney and owen are a cut above". It was hardly a comment without bias was it now?

Why don't people understand that you can be a better finisher than these guys but still not on the same level at all? There is way more to being a top forward than the ability to put it away from 12 yards when you get a chance. He might edge out even some of the best for finishing but they blow him out of the water in many other ways.

No he just wouldn't comment about him, i don't think crouch would say something like that just for the sake of it crouch is not like that. Why would crouch go out of his way to say he is the best finisher he has seen?

You'll need to see my reply in Spurs Chat for that first sentence.
I feel you're trying to read attitudes into my replies that are not at all there. I'll try to be as rational and lucid as I can, but you must remember that reading with bitterness and hate will only distort your understanding of my posts. I understand that the return of my access to the forum is a very bitter pill for you to swallow, and despite my disappointment at your negativity to engage with opinions diametrically opposed to yours, I hope that you will not carry out your threat to cease posting. Despite the gulf between some of our views, I do remember that you acknowledged previously that we have far more in common than not in our opinions.
I also noticed you started a thread on anal sex not long after I was gone. That seemed quite shocking to me but I do realise that there are a few key members who have deep sympathies with that activity. I really appreciated that you had waited until I had no access to the forum to spare any unnecessary shock to myself. I can only express my undying gratitude for that.

I have absolutely zero problem with opposition opinions, in fact it is great, what I don't like is behaviour that ruins debates and forums.
I have no inherent bitterness towards anyone except pikeys, chavs and pondscum. :D I said on your banning thread I don't hold grudges and have no problem with you coming back if you clean up your act.
But, you see, you don't see what many do about the way you have done things. It may not be intentional but ignorance isn't a great defence when it has been pointed out many times and even then when you got two warnings and a ban.
And I'm told you have received numerous warnings and bans on other forums as well.
Instead of thinking you are some kind of Mandela figure or a victim of Makabe's Zimbabwe is there any incling that you have caused many people to not enjoy the forum as much by proximity to your often very difficult and obnoxious company?
I'm not saying you are all bad, far from it, if you could behave with a lot more magnanimity and balance I'd be inclined to believe you'd be a great poster and add to and start manys a great and healthy debate.

I can find someone on here who says the opposite to you for everyone you can find. I don't see any viable future in that. I see it as opposing worldviews and experiences, little else.
The inherent difference between you and me is that I'd never suggest that you be banned from any forum. I believe in free speech no matter how objectionable I may find it. Some people think that makes me self-righteous and a bit of a dickhead, but I've always forgiven Mum and Dad for that.
I've been banned from COYS, along with about several hundred people, for criticising Noodles, an "ITK" who plants song lyrics and rhymes that are meant to indicate some inside knowledge he has of the club's machinations. I find little shame in that, as he's obviously posting ambiguous nonsense.
I'm currently suspended by SO because I referred to a close aide of the site owner as a "pompous oaf" after he had referred to me as akin to a "strutting peacock". If you can't take it, don't give it out, but many are unable to accept that. I could accept several people repeatedly abusing me directly - "f*** off, you dickhead", "arsehole", "tosser", etc - 2 weeks before when I questioned the account of Woody confronting Berba on the training ground, and rose above it. I never raised one complaint. It's beneath me.
