well it wer'nt nice to watch but we earned the 3pts for sheer hardwork . you cant always play pretty foot ball at this time of year . just keep grinding out the results . we must keep going like this , it is the only way

yeah it was pretty disorganised again. we are so slow at getting the ball forward, which might well give us defensive formation, but we don't attack in a way that brings fear to opposition players. Carrick was missing in the first half and contributed no more than a run and goal. Thought stalteri was caught out of position too many times too, luckily city were pretty woeful going forward.
Mido was pants and should have been replaced at half time. Good result again but it was hanging in the balance after we scored the second, anything could have happened.

Stalteri scoring, Gardner playing well and nearly scoring and we manage a victory having kept the lead and not squandered it - I'd say that was sitting quite pretty with me today. Lennon, Jenas and Keane played extremely well and if it wasn't for David James drinking red bull this morning we could have scored 6 or 7.

I thought it was an all round decent performance. However, Stalteri still showing why he shouldn't be picked, Mido was below par and for a long time I was shouting to bring on JD for him. Gardner did well, i'm proud of him. People have been very critical of him after the defeat to Newcastle - myself included, basically coz he's shit, but he did well. If Lennon had the ball a bit more I would have been happier, because he seemed quite content to make Thatcher look a fool time and time again. But my man of the match I think goes to Teemu. Admittedly he didn't shoot a couple of times when he could have, and lost the ball a few as well, but it was his determination to make amends for his errors, if he gave away the ball it would be him winning it back. Saying that, Keane had a great game and on another day would have walked away with the match ball too, had a good goal taken away from him too.

Question is, did Gardener do enough to earn himself that contract with Charlton that he so richly deserves?
