now that was a game of football, none of that paint drying rubbish we got put through this afternoon. Ok some of the cards were needless but most of them were stupid things from the players. I also think portugal won't want to tackle next week as they will potentially lose many players banned for the semi. Get lennon on from the start.

Great game. I don't think England stand a chance if we continue to play this dull dour rubbish that Sven is instilling into what should be the best football, from the best squad of players, who play in the (arguable) best league in the world.
We'll really have to take it up a notch.

We have to take it up several notches...Portugal will be the first decent team we have played against this tournament and I hope our boys raise their game accordingly. The optimist in me says that we have not risen out of third gear because we haven't had to - the realist thinks we don't have anything more in the tank...
Time will tell, and if time doesn't, then the Beeb will!

Only thing missing from that game was a decent punch up - cracking game

So apart from not tackling hard, the Portugese will be without 2 first teamers and Ronaldo might be unavailable due to the injury today. If England don't win, they really do not deserve anything.

yeah and figo may get collared. You have to remember though that holland still couldn't make many chances even with a man advantage for much of the game. They did look well organised and cut robben out of the game.

The Portugal game will be as fiery as the Port/Holl 2nd round, with a lot of the players very familiar with each other and the fact that Rooney should be hell-bent on revenge for Euro 2004 and the fact that the guy who injured him recently was Paulo Ferriera.

i was wiling holland to win as it would be the easier of the teams to play but both are beatable. the only worry is luis fillipe scolari. he is a tactical mastermind and has knocked england out of the last 2 tournaments in the quarters. surely this is our turn to beat them, cumon sven 3rd times a charm

That's the first thing I thought, 3rd time lucky. It's got to be done, Portugal have players out and Rooney should be bang up for it, all's we need is Lamps dropped or firing as per Chelsea, a trademark Gerrard big match performance, Lennon playing a bigger part, Terry not to make another mistake, and good service to Rooney. Carrick supplies the ball well, but Hargreaves is a better holding midfielder I think. His workrate and tackling against Sweden was superb.

that and no more robbo-flaps even though his punch to Rio's head was the most hilarious thing i think ive seen in the WC

He should have knocked him out while screaming "Ledley's better than you!"

Really thought that Miguel at right back was awesome.. Robben didn't get past him once and he's really good going forward too... Every time i've seen him, he has impressed me... Would like to see him in a spurs shirt next season...

Yeah, I've been watching him, (Someone tipped me off about him) and he is an excellent player. If we signed him or Trabelsi and the leftie this would be a superb summer's transfer activity. Oh, and keeping Carrick (unsure) and Defoe (probably)

Miguel is the best-rightback in the world. Has been for a long long time. In the Euro's last time out he kept shitty Paulo Ferreira on the bench all day long, and he is still doing it with ease.
I was positive a few years back we would buy him, Miguel at right-back and Marek Jankulovski at left-back. Even if we didn't try to buy either of them, it shows how dominant the bigger teams are because they left Benfica and Udinese to join Valencia and AC Milan.

So acquiring Miguel's services would set us back a few bob then.

But he'll be worth every last penny of it. Alas, there seems to be no story of us going for him.
