i really do think it will be at fast pace especially in the first half with england pipping it 2-0 or 2-1.hopefully robbo will play better and we can deal with the heat as it will be apparantly very hot.carrick man of the match COYS

We have to come out the blocks fast like Germany and Mexico yesterday. I'm going to be bold here and say we will win 3-1.

Think it maybe tighter than a lot of people think they have 2 outstanding midfielders in Valencia & Mendez who swap wings constantly, think our left & right side's need to be on there metal with these 2 and don't get caught to high up when a move breaks down and not to get caught inside right / inside left. Having said that if all goes to plan i think s/b 2-0 or 3-1 to us if we don't wilt in the heat.

I think england will win 3-1 with Gerrard, Rooney and Lennon to score.. Really hope Lennon will get a chance coming on a proving he's better than beckham in the right wing position...

yer don't see beckham having a great game without a target man to hit, and with valencia flying past him he'll be defending deep. He usually stays deep to collect the ball in these situations but he'll be treading on carrick's toes. I have to say ecuador have been one of the few teams that play as a team, a bit like leicester in the cup (doh!) but we should have enough match winners to beat them. My concern is i had a nagging feeling about the ref not giving many yellow cards out to the argies last night, almost to the point of it being dodgy. Lets hope our players aren't buried in bookings so they miss the later rounds. Rooney especially.

32-0.

You've never witnessed football like you're about to.

What a poor first half... If Hargreaves is injuried and Sven isn't sending Lennon on the pitch i'm going to lose it.. Beckham simply doesn't have the speed to threaten equadors defence and rooney is left totally alone..

What England needs now is Lennons pace...

Lennon is the key to this game, if he doesn't play bye bye England. The heat will favor Ecuador as the game goes on saying that good luck England.

With the physical approach the Ecuadorians are employing, Lennon might earn us a penalty or two.

I predict a 1-0 win from a Beckham free-kick.

What an outset Lennon is how well did he play in 5mins he was given.should have had a penalty. And we all called it for Carrick he was Mustard. SPURS stars shine brightly yet again.

i thought the whole midfield was poor, carrick holding his own but rooney or ashley cole man of the match. Think they need to drop lampard for a game to buck his ideas up. Thought ecuador didn't fancy it but they easily passed through our midfield time and time again. We have to get lennon on as a threat and play with some gusto. Think i'd rather play holland as they only have ruud as kuyt is shite.

England's No.1

IMHO, Carrick was the best England player on the pitch.

I'll agree that A. Cole did alright, Rooney wwasn't bad but still seemed to lack match sharpness for me. Carrick made several incisive passes and didn't give away many fouls at all. Well done Mickey C.

Feel I also ought to mention how poor Robinson was again, he made one good save but was iffy for the most part, again. What has happened to him, I hope he performs better than this for us next season.

Carrick man of the match in his first world cup game.

Arise Sir Carrick

Lampard clearly thinks he can keep blasting the ball over the bar at every opportunity. I hope the next time he's in a scoring position waiting for a pass, Stevie G completly ignores him and shows him how to do it, by unleashing another wonderstrike. While giving him the finger. And telling him to **** off. Awesome.

Hargreaves is massively underrated, and it's mostly due to the media. We'd already be out if the Media knew what they were talking about.

I had always wanted Hargreaves instead of Salty. Hargreaves was recommended to Bayern when he was still about 14, and I remember there was a big thing on TV in Canada following his progress.

He nearly came here as well didn't he....

Hargeaves as a right-back...

It may well be worth a punt, but not for too much. Suppose he does have that versatile quality in him still though...Just in case we ever run out of centre-mids...

Is he even available? I'd be happy signing him for around £3.5million.

Spur

Well I was going to say no more than 4mil, so I second that.

yeah, at £3.5-4million he would be a good buy, bearing in mind his versatility and age

He nearly came here as well didn't he....

That I don't remember. I only noticed an half -hour programme by one of our Sports channels bout him from his young days and about how he coped in Germany. The only other Canadian footballer that I rate was Craig Forrest who used to play for West Ham. He is now an analyst for the WC and EPL and UEFA games shown on Canadian TV. Talks rather sensibly.

Is he good as a right back?

We sorta need one coz this other canadian we got is rather shit.

Better than Salty; but that doesn't really mean much, does it?

Spur

We are talking about Craig Forrest yes?

Welsh Spur

Craig Forrest is a keeper mate. From back in the day. Actually I think he was in my F.A Premier League 1995 sticker album. Hahaha! :D

Spur
27th June 2006, 11:25 AM
Of course he is!!

I remember him now, but still... we DO need a right-back and Stalteri is a bit shit. You think Craig Forrest could do a better job at right-back for Spurs?

Welsh Spur
27th June 2006, 11:30 AM
I think he's retired. Which is good, as I don't think installing a former West Ham keeper as our right back is the answer!
