The club...and that is everyone from the board down to the fans has to accept that a lot of the 'improvement' in the past few years as regards league position, europe and the carling cup, whilst welcome was not the brave new dawn we all hoped for.

the cracks, that were always there, were glossed over and we all got a little carried away me included, and why not, after years of mediocrity we looked like taking some positive steps....

The Jol sitiuation last year didn't help and now the berba thing doesn't help the mentality around the club...but noone seems to want to lead the club.

Off or on the pitch I don't feel there is anyone who will stand up and take some responsability and say this is where we are trying to go and this is what we are looking to build...each year whover the gaffa is we just stumble along, occasionally getting a good result or 3 and then let the season fizzle out...well last year and the year previous we had a few players that could keep us in any game now unless we sign some miracle worker we might have that hard hard season I was worried about...

sitting in the park lane watching it with surrey spur I don't think I ever felt so worried watching a spurs team of late...it was like the thrashings of dying animal you wanted to put it out of it's misery...Sunderland are a solid and organised outfit with players like djouf and cisse to call on if their heads are right will win them a few games...but they were nothing more than average.

Seeing our players looking at each other ..almost begging for some leadership ..they didn't look like they believed they would win yesterday..

The atmosphere was strange yesterday....it was like the whole stadium kind of realised how bad we were of course we have been there before but you could usually look to the bench and see a defoe or a keane or a berbatov, yesterday you felt we were a shell of a team...Bent needs to play in a 2 upfront....if for no other reason than to get his confidence, the lad looks beaten already which is a shame...

The likes of Chelsea won't define our league season,it will be the likes of boro, sunderland, pompey and villa etc and on this showing ....

The Sunderland fans were fantastic..sung their hearts out from start to finish.....

standing in a half empty pub with surreyspur and a few other stragglers drowning our sorrows...you couldn't help think that this wasn't how it was sposed to be this season.......
