The game last night was brutal, Croatia seemed to resort to rugby tackles and trying to catch the ball inside the box to defeat the oz. The guy who handled should have been off for the first one, as should have Marquez v Portugal. Deliberate Handball in the box should be straight red. I haven't seen a game where there was so much foul play, erm, ever, I think. Full marks to the Aussies and Croats though, probably the most entertaining game I've seen!

That guy (Tomas ?) handled in the areas twice !!! Once in each half ... and Viduka was rugby tackled in the area. Graham Poll had a shocker to be honest & he lost complete control for the final 5 minutes.
Our keeper (Kalac) had a Barry Crocker as well.
Oh well, we're through & that's the main thing. C'MON YOU SOCCEROOS !!

It's quite sad to see that the English refereeing is as bad as the English football.

Well! I was proud to watch the Ozzies play with real commitment and passion.
So called underdogs have made it through and deservedly so.
What a shame England have lost that simple ability to want to win a game.
Graham Poll! WTF?????????
Come on you Ozzies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

You even found a way to slag off england in an 'australia/croatia' post? Then again, you are Mr. Anti-England....

I would love to see the Aussies beat Italy.....and thumbs up for the displays and comments of support for your team, English fans could definately learn something there.

I'm not anti-England at all! I just don't get swamped with all of the hype that you do and i can see from over here the real picture.
They are rubbished for their displays which lack commitment and yet they would all be knighted by July if they won it. Its just so funny. They should be favourites but luck has got them where they are so far. Admit it!

Sorry! But why do you say that SPUR is anti-English?

Coz he always takes the opportunity to rip into the national team, one of these fans that slags off the team until they get knocked out.

Really good game that was it had it all dodgy ref, dodgy keeper, excellent set peice and excitement... Aussies could have had 2 more more pens
And its gotta be the first time I've seen a player booked 3 times...
So glad the Aussies got through, Italy vs Australia will be a good game

Let's just hope they go a goal down first, then rip Italy's poncey diving souls from their skeletons...who would they (Australia) face if they went through? Can't be arsed to work it out myself....

not enirely sure but i think if Aus went through the would face the winner of the Germany -0 Sweeden match so they could go a long way. i must admit ive been converted to an Australia fan, they're doing really well but sadly they will be a one tournament wonder.

Hold up, hold up. I don't mean to be anti-national team. But when we have a complete **** in charge who does not have the faintest about what to do...When we have an Arsenal **** picking the squad...
It's hard for me to get behind a team that I don't like. I'm English and i'm patriotic, but the English football team is nothing short of embarrassing. As was that refereeing last night.
The national team has (COULD HAVE) the best squad in the world. No lie. The best. We should win this with ease.......... EASY. But we won't. We play the wrong team. We play terrible, terrible football. It's hard to get behind them when they only beat Azerbajain 1-0. This a team we should beat 11-0. As was T&T. So i'm not Anti-England. Maybe just Anti-English football team at the moment. But they have no-one but themselves to blame for all the criticism they get. Indeed, I don't even think they get enough.

credit where credit is due and your opinions are spot on. I guess you are more of a disgruntled, long-suffering fan rather than one who just wants to see the national team fail. Apologies for the misinterpretation.

Don't worry about it, it happens all the time.
Somewhat pisses me off I meet very few people who share my opinions.

The wrong team is most definately used though, everybody but Sven can see that Lampard and Gerrard can't play together. Everybody could see the difference when Lennon came on against T&T. Everybody could see that 4 strikers wasn't enough, especially the ones he picked. Everybody can see that when things don't go Sven's way, he hasn't got a clue. Everybody but the F.A.

indeed it was based on the fact that Hidink is leaving, also the stars will be 4 years older and they're not the most youthful of sides. Hiddink was the reason they have done so well and the reason Russia will do well and cause us problems in qualification for Euro 08, to quote someone (dont know who) 'the Hiddink way is a winning way.'

Spot ****ing on, did anyone hear the interview that ugly swedish streak of piss did earlier about how we dominated the second half against Sweden, how he has picked the perfect team, how he was right for only taking 4 strikers and quite frankly talking a lot of shit which made me hate him even more.

Australia don't rely on one manager nor will they need to rely on todays team next WC. Football is the widest played sport in Australia now and the kids coming through will as good as anyones. The WC can be a lottery so any teams on its day can win.

yes i know that they could become a regular feature in the WC but from my point of view i this will be their best WC. who can you get in to replace Hiddink anyway, he's the best coach in the world
