im not convinced about this chelsea link. they are linked with any half decent player and he has said he wants to come to spurs so i think he may have enough common sense not to go to chelsea as he wont get first team football and we're going places and moving up. i think he's ours if we want him
JJ

If he's happy to sit on the bench then he'll go to Chelsea. Ballack, Lampard, Essien and Makelele will not be dropped.

21st June 2006, 06:55 PM
also chelsea have Lassana Diarra who is supposed to be the next Makelele and was playing towards the end of the season was playing in that position. they also have Maniche who is a holding player in his prime. and at 25 years of age Zokora is not going to be the next anything, he is basically in his prime now so isnt going to be bought in as a youth purchase hence this chelsea link being fairly unlikely. but with chelsea you never can be sure.

They'll just buy and deprive other teams of half decent players.

Chelsea are really starting to get on my ****ing nerves!!!! They will probably buy him and loan him out Birmingham or sommat like they did with that Russian Fella (name escapes me). Either that or they are just trying to unsettle him and make him hold out from signing for us!!!!!

They let Maniche go back to Spartak Moscow I think, and Jarosik has gone to Celtic - strange, as he was Birmingham's best player, and I thought someone in the Premiership maight have shown an interest.
I do not think Chelsea are interested in Zokora. However, any interst, even a rumour, will invariably inflat the price. Now the Ivory Coast are out, let's hope things move quickly.

Excellent news. One website said this...
Didier Zokora the medium of ground of the Ivory Coast of the ACE St-Etienne should evolve/move the next season with Tottenham. The two clubs would have found an agreement for the transfer of the player to height of 12 million euros indicates this Skysports morning. St-Etienne who wished three of more of them could accomodate in compensation a player of Tottenham. International the ivorien should sign a 4 year old contract.
And another this...
Saint-Etienne and Tottenham would have found an agreement of transfer of the medium of ground of the Ivory Coast Didier Zokora which would owe a 4 year old contract with Hotspurs for 12 million euros.
My translating is a bit dodgy, almost as if I used those silly internet translators that translate the word...

If this is true its great news. Didier Zokora for 8mil!!!!!!!!!!!
If we do sell Carrick - or Jenas for that matter - then chances are we will make a decent profit on both and still have a class player to take their place.
Only down side to this signing is the African Nations Cup, but I suppose we won't have to worry about that for another year!

Who do you think we'll get as LM? Malbranque is good enough and is full of running. Also possesses a good shot.
Billywhizz
22nd June 2006, 11:15 PM
Malbranque seems more centre midfield might be able to play left side. you'll proberly laugh at this one but i watched the Czech v Italy game today and think Pavel Nedved can play left side and if Juve get relegated then he could be available but we will have to move quick.
Chinaman
22nd June 2006, 11:20 PM
I think Nedved is a few years senoir to Malbranque and would not fit if we're trying to build a dynasty. Well, as ACMilan, Lazio and Fiorentina are also charged, there may be a few good players getting free next year.

WelshSpur82

I also would prefer Duff to Babel as i knoww Duff can cut it in the EPL, Babel is untried, i agree he could turn out good but it is a bit of a risk and he would be quite expensive i think.
DonJolSpurano
23rd June 2006, 08:46 AM
i just want a good, reasonably fast, left-sided midfielder with a good cross to cover that side. not necessarily a typical winger because you cant play with two out-n-out wingers and two centre forwards, MJ has said that himself...it makes you weaker defensively.
we will probably buy a youngish left sided forward/winger whom wont always play but be used to change shape and make an impact from the bench.

Couldn't agree more. Zakora (if he comes) looks like being a very good signing, but would not want to sacrifice Carrick for him, would like to see him play with Carrick. Jenas (although may not be happy with it) would be a great back-up player, and possibly play instead of Lennon in some games that are likely to be combatative, to keep the youngster fresh and injury free. I fear Lennon will have a fair few tackles on him next season.

With a European campaign (hopefully it goes on long enough to actually be a campaign) we will really need the squad. You have to account for injuries etc and if we have a good solid set of players who can be swapped around to adapt to different opposition, then its looking very promising.
Jol has said that as far as he's concerned Carrick is staying, so i believe that he is. I don't think Zokora ever was or ever will be intended to be his replacement.

We have more than adequate cover and with the money generated I will be content. Not that I want him to go of course. But money is important. And so is the players mentality.
When Jenas was linked away he stated he was staying. When Dawson, King and Lennon were linked away, they all signed new deals. Carrick has done neither. We shouldn't break the bank to keep him here, if he's not happy then let him go.

I'm sure the club officials would have said keep schtum until you've signed. Don't unsettle any of our other players, especially as they're still playing in the world cup. I think that we are now moving onto the three in the middle, i'm sure Davids will stay now too meaning competition for places is healthy. Jenas Carrick and Zokora will be the top dollar team, with Davids Murphy Hudd Teemu and Ghaly around for the squad places.
