I have thought that Becks has been one of our worst palyers this tournament, apart from his dead ball situations. His legs have seem to have gone, he is like a kicker in american footie, wheel him in for free kicks/corners etc! It is so obvious that we need some thrust and pace on the right i.e. Lennon, as we are getting too congested in the middle and there is no get out ball to stretch the play.

Sven will never drop him, and neither will McClaren. We've got a good few years of aged Beckham left.

Sven and Beckham are lovers................ lol....
The last good game he had was against Greece back in the qualifiers for WC2002.
But saying that he has got a good cross on him...
StevieG or Terry should be Captain....

Becks needs a rocket up his Arsenal. Be brave Sven and give Lennon ago and then hopefully you'll see England come alive.

Beckham day has gone, everyone was raving about him after the games against Hungary and Jamacia say he was back to his best with his free kicks and crosses. I could have looked good doing that against two of the worst teams in international football and now we are back against better teams he has been dissapointing again, his last goal from a free kick for England was ages ago and his corners have always been crap.

In the game against Sweden, he did deliver one of the best passes seen in this tournament to Rooney over 50yards away, and Rooney killed the ball superbly, but was only muscled away from a scoring chance because he's still not 100% match fit. A fit Rooney would have exploded away from the defender and scored in one movement.

i cant say i agree that Beckham is crap. He's allways been a dead ball specialist and we've allways relied on him because of it. he still is the best with a dead ball. he's never been able to beat defenders or run at people. i think we as spurs fans are only starting to question him a lot more because of Aaron Lennon. if Lennon didnt break into the spurs team and SWP went to germany we wouldnt be having this conversation.

I don't think its a case of beckam bein crap..I don't believe nyone would say that...he's a top player..and has contributed to great perforances for clubs and country...the issue is about balance and the way england play..with beckam in the side we play sideways and then look for a killer longish ball...with lennon or a similar outlet wide we get beyond fullbacks and give the midfield and strikers a chance to push on into the area...personally I thing england have looked better with lennon..spurs player or not..because of this point...Ideally we'd accomodate both but sven has never had the balls to really committ to getting us forward at pace...the problem with svens england is his lack bottle..i dont believe the players have confidence ..which will cost us more than the quality ..we have some quality players...

spot on. i do accept the point also his corner kicks are predictable though. i would like to see him drill some corners over instead of float them. His experience and presence does count for something in the absence of form. however he should not be immune from substitution. we need our captain in this tournament. look at michael vaughan in the ashes. his personal batting form was especially poor but he brought other important leadership qualities to the team.

When Lennon arrived on the pitch against Trinidad, England suddenly looked dangerous...straight away he was going past his man as if he wasn't there...but he needs to work on the final ball if he had beckham's right foot England would be well away.

beckham should be dropped or brought inside. the point of a wide man is to give width, beat the man and get round the back, and get in crosses. He can only do the latter, and that's from his half way line. He needed lennon to push them back for his cross fro crouch's goal. It's shows a lack of respect to the opposition to think that we can afford to play someone who can't fulfil the role. Lampard and cole can take good set pieces so lets utilise them and drop gobshite.

I completely agree with this statement and have been saying the same thing for 4 years!! However Sven is completely gutless and because of this we will be eliminated in the quarter finals against either portugal or holland:(
