Is Sven taking the piss?! Where's Carrick?!

How can he drop Lampard and Gerrard and not have Carrick step in for either?!

Maybe i've missed something...

i doubt Jenas will start, possibly replace lampard at some point. although i was in shock when i first heard the speculation of hargreaves starting im not too bothered about it as i feel it may be his last chance. Sven has usually shown faith in players who he has played in the past and hargreaves is one of those. however sven has usually buckled under press & public pressure i.e. dropping the diamond formation, dropping heskey etc. i think Sven may be giving hargreaves 1 last chance to prove himself before dropping him although the only reason i can see for his inclusion above carricks is his aggression and carricks passing range may by-pass lampard/gerrard

Agree with you there Hargreaves is not going to make defence splitting passes. i think he will get caught out of position a few times and won't close the ball quick enough. i think maybe Erikkson is looking forward to a possible meeting with the Argies and see who could play holding role whilst containing Riquelme if we get that far.

It's retarded quite frankly. These are the games that you're meant to be giving your backups some game time and getting them used to playing with each other, not testing players. That was the point of the friendlies.

They and Erikkson should have a rough idea on how they play with each other
some of them play for the same premiership team and England have been training well up to 6 weeks and beyond. I don't think he knows what formations he wants to play and yeh some of his selections do raise your eyebrows in amazement
