Talking from England’s base in Baden Baden earlier today, JJ was quite happy to knock on the head any suggestion that he had concerns over his future at Spurs with summer transfer speculation continuing in earnest back at home.

“I’m very happy at Spurs, I said all along it was a perfect move for me and I was right. It was great to help take the club back into the UEFA Cup,” commented JJ, who scored seven goals for us in 32 appearances last term.

“It was good to play so regularly last season and my performances at Spurs were recognised and got me into the World Cup squad, the pinnacle for any player.

“Martin Jol is fantastic to work with – he instils confidence in us all and has helped bring the best out of me.

“So while it’s great to be here at the World Cup, I’m really looking forward to getting going again at Spurs next season.”

I don't know about you guys, but this story is great as we now know were not going to lose JJ but casts even more doubt on the future of Micheal Carrick. Surely if he was going to stay, he would have done exactly the same thing and put any speculation to a stop. What do you guys think ??

Probably because Man U have not offered £15m for him.

do you think zokora will be the man to replace him then?

That would make it easier to swallow but I'd like to see Zokora and Carrick playing together , I see Zokora as a replacement for Davids.

yeh thats what i though - seemed more of 1 for 1 but now davids seems to be staying i think it could be zokora and jenas/davids in cm for next season

i think davids will have a bit of a naybet type of season next season. he definately wont play as much as he has this season and will probably figure a bit more at the start of the season when the less experienced players arent in full swing. he will play in the big games as well as thats where he is strongest. this could mean that zokora will play a bit more should we sign him but for all the strength in the links i just cant see it working out, we have carrick, jenas, davids, tainio, murphy, ghaly & the hudd in the centre, could we really accomodate zokora

would that be in a 3-5-2, 4-5-1 or what. i cant see us only playing with 1 up top as that would mean we would have sold defoe.

Think we will play in a formation close to this:
4-3-2-1

Robbo
Lee/Salty, King, Daws, Ekotto/Lee

JJ,Carrick, Zokora/Davids/Tainio

Lennon, Keano

Berba/Defoe

With Lennon and Keano in some pretty free roles. Sometimes they will be driving out wide, sometimes being in the "hole", and sometimes up front next to Berba/Defoe...

Couse Jol said just yesterday that a classic 4-4-2 is dead, and a month ago or so he said that in the future Lennon will be able to play in the hole...

thats exactly my train of thought. i was also thinking something where keane plays the left channel and comes in centrally, allowing the left sided midfielder to push out wide. it gives you flexibility and an alternate approach.

Another newspaper report rubbished, well done J.J. we should not all get worked up everytime a paper says one of our players is unhappy, after all Spurs is the team to play for over the next few years, sucess is on the way.

These 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 suggestions could be the reason why we are not signing a left-midfielder currently. Over tha last few seasons, I believe that Levy has led Spurs to tie up their deals quickly or at the last moment. I don't think this time it would be in our interests to wait until the last moment in order to get the best price for several reasons...

I would like to see us try it, most definately. Perhaps during the Inter friednly we will see something special - am definately already looking forward to that one!

Just a thought on Carrick, perhaps he is not speaking to get the best deal possible for himself. If he says he wants to stay he won't get a mega deal which he surely will be offered..?

Personally I think he has money on his mind, and if he gets a nice pay rise to stay here he will - if not then it's bye bye Mikey Carrick.

I think it works both ways. If Carrick has a good WC (provided he plays at some stage) he could get an improved contract from Spurs. Again with the same scenario,Spurs could get a much better offer than the alledged 12 mill that's been touted.Either way if both parties keep stumm and someone is genuine about making an offer the price go's up.

Spurs have apparently already offered him a contract which is on par with the club's top earners.
