From Paul Smith, Spurs Odyssey Host:

Spurs Odyssey understands that a deal is very close to seal the signature of PSV's Brazilian Goalkeeper Heurelho Silva Gomes. The deal is likely to be finalised next week, and our own Gilberto is said to have been very influential in the process.

Gomes is 27 years old, and a Brazilian International, although he has not played in the current world Cup qualifiers. Gomes starred against us in the UEFA Cup last season, when we were dramatically knocked out on penalties.

Spurs Odyssey was first to mention Argentinean midfielder Mario Santander several months ago, and now today he has been suggested in The Sun as one of Juande Ramos's targets. Spurs Odyssey was also first with the news of Dos Santos's signature in this window, and knew of Spurs interest in January.

Spurs Odyssey is the source of much of the information you read re-gurgitated around the web, and is the place to be throughout the transfer window and throughout the year!

I think he's a ****in monster in goal.Loads of Ajax fans have been saying how happy they are that he's off. They really rate him, and they hate PSV. The amount of goals we've conceeded from distance under Robbo should drop, as Gomes is a ****in great shot stopper.

We wont get him, But he is a quality keeper, much better than Kameni or Hart who we've been linked with...

I have been impressed with him alright, though I don't know as much about him as Boruc. I've heard Amelia is a class act too and we were very close to signing him in January before the time ran out. I thought we would go back in for him as he agreed to sign and everything. But Gomes looks class and I trust Ramos.

Not Gomez please, there's an element of a clown about him, don't quite know what it is but every time I've seen him he's never filled me with confidence. I want Boruc, there's no worry about him adapting to the British culture or language and he's class.

On a seperate note, I thought Luka Moric was sensational tonight and was at the heart of everything Croatia did. I know he's their number one penalty taker but it was a bit much to ask the youngest member of the squad to take the first kick. You got to hand it to the Turks though, they just don't know when they're beaten. Stubborn bastards.

My last one was 'Berbagod.' :D

But I said it rarely in the last 12 months, his attitude was pathetic for most of the season. :(

have only seen him play once, when we were at PSV.
I remember at the time thinking he was shaky on crosses. I dont think he would be a great signing, probably similar standard to Robbo. Seem to recall he was quite big though...

Why wouldn't we get gomes? we got modric and dos santos, and gomes is way less in demand than them because he's a ****in lunatic. Anyone remember when we had a throw in near the penalty area and he came and stood almost on the edge of his area? I'd rather have someone letting goals because they're shit (robbo) than someone who makes mistakes because he's being a **** (gomes)

Psv rate gomes so high they think he is the best keeper out there. I remember thinking he looked dodgy at crosses but what impressed me was he would clatter into anyone just to get to the ball. Also he made a great save against steed in the final moments. Overall all i rather him than the keepers we've been linked with at this moment in time.

Also ive stated many times boruc is a top top keeper he should be first choice.
