He should have been clear through at the end. No way was that a foul on the defender!

Yeah im well impressed with Modric, i heard a few people say that he would be too lightweight for the prem but he looks anything but.

Plus i see Frings might be available for about 5million, surely he'd be worth a bid to partner modric

If hes available for anything near that hes a must on of the best sitting mids in my view. Hed free up modric, dos santos, and hopefully bentley to support keano and bent(or villa). That has been our weakest link this season i dont believe dawson or kaboul are bad defenders they were made to look bad by our mids not tracking back. Speaking of Kaboul i hear pompey are interested i really hope it doesnt happen he has the potential to be as good as king after all you dont captain france u-21s if the coach doesnt see something. He just had a tough first season.

I know its hard to fathom, but there are unconfirmed reports that we will tie it up when spain are at. Personally i dont think it will happen, but I would have thought the same about Modric Barca had confirmed their interest in him. Dos santos is a coup aswell. WATCH THIS SPACE:p

Big teams didn't want modric like they want villa.

Villa will end up at scum, liverpool or barca. Imo we have no chance in capturing him pal.

The truth is we're not gonna get players like Villa until we break into the top 4. Yeah we may have got Dos Santos and Modric who are class(especially Modric in the Euro's) but players like Villa who attract numerous top teams from Europe, will get blinded by the glamour of playing for a bigger club in the champions league with bags of money coming in every week. Personally i think it is wrong how they think and am with players like Dos Santos and Modric who look at us and see themselves playing attractive football and progressing their careers and going to their full potentials. They are in it for the game, not the glamour and i look forward to next season with them in our side.

I'd take him over Lennon any day!

I'd take him over anyone in the current squad. He's a great talent unsettled in SV Hamburg, we should take the chance.

What a great midfield we can start with Dos Santos - Modric - DM - Van der Vaart. Great way to sort the midfield problem.

Nigel De Jong has been class too I really wish we'd of signed him when we had the chance everything we need as a DM. Englaar looked abit shaky today I was put off him abit. Niko Kovac was class to yesterday with Modric but he's 36 already or something like that. The Dutch are playing like Brazil I wouldn't bet against them.

I have to say i cannot pick one team who i think is going to win this. It's been a week of fantastic international football, great goals & great drama.
Sticking with Croatia though.

I'm wondering whether Romania will qualify ahead of Italy and France. They only have to draw and whatever happens with Portugal and Romania doesnt matter as Romania will go through anyway on goals. Croatia to win. Or Spain or maybe Holland, i just dont know anymore!

Nah they'd be alright. The way their playing at the moment is fantastic, enough to give anyone a good match. Ok so have Spain, but it's only been one match so far for them and if it did turn out a Holland, Spain final, it'd just be the case of whose the better team on the day. Their both as good as each other right now imo.

Holland - Spain can only be played in QF or SF, the finalists are one from groups A-B and the other one from C-D. That's the way it's been done, great for Portugal.

Yep the guy plays his position to perfection. On another note Billic and Van Basten are some seriously skilled coaches their tactics have been amazing especially in their second games and the substitutions have been a masterstroke.

It'll be good to see how Spain do today because Sveden aren't no push overs and if Ibra shows up it could be a very interesting game.

I hope the Dutch let Romania beat them that would be bloody hilarious France and Italy sent packing in the group stages.

Yeah especially when Romania were outlawed as favourites to be the flops of the group of death. But if they qualified ahead of the world champions and Le Frogs, that'd be a great achievement all in itself. It'd be like winning the Euro's for them. England fans probs wouldn't feel so humiliated then.

Guess who has Romania backed to get out of the group and also not to finish rock bottom? I had a feeling the big guns were liable to be too old and shit.

I think Spain are stick ons to win today. Larrson is the only man to fear. He's still got a great football brain. Spain always play to their potential for a few games before they implode.

Bilic and Van Basten are doing very well alright. It helps Van Basten to look good though that Robben and Van Persie had injury troubles and they are great to spring into already counter tactics against two old and slow sides. They tore the olds a new one. I will be very interested to see if they are just as good against younger or better sides than the ones they have played, but along with Spain they have the most lethal front five.

Well Spain have won, although it was a very unconvincing performance. It looks like they may not have what it takes to win altogether after all. Only Torres and especially Villa can get them far, but as a team, they haven't got a real chance playing like that against big teams like Holland and Portugal.

We will never get Villa now. :(

But he may not be ideal to play with Keano in a physical league. :) Then again they are both class and very intelligent so it probably would work. :(

The Swedes were unlucky but Spain deserved their win after not being awarded that stone cold peno at the end of the first half. Wasn't a very impressive performance though they didn't utilise the pace of Torres and Villa very well their build up was to slow but Senna was cracker. If the Swedes had the counter attack of the Dutch then Spain would've been in alot of trouble and Ibra going off didn't help them either. I'll stick by my prediction of a Croatia vs Holland final.

For me spain play to narrow and try to accommodate there better players rather than balance. I feel they will get unstuck sooner rather than later.

Portugal are the favourite for me they have the ball players and they also have width. They are a jammy side who seem to know how to win big games.

Holland look great but i just have a feeling when they start with robben and van pervie they won't have a plan B. They should make the semi's but would be good to see them against a side like portugal or croatia who get stuck in and can keep the ball just as good as them.

For me portugal or croatia will win the tournament.

I told ya all we look very shaky in our back. The goal is a big mistake from Sergio Ramos, who is doing a shocking Euro 2008. Just crap.

By the way, we are leaving on QF, so...who matters? I'll just enjoy the group stages and then I'll watch how we got kicked out by France/Italy. I have the feeling Romania is not going through. Probably Italy as they will a last-second winner and Romania will draw.

Can someone please explain to me what the ref was thinkin when he didn't give that penalty????? (Elmander's rear charge on Silva)

That was one of the most blatant ones I have seen, it was 100% a pen, how did the ref not see it that way? Elmander wasn't even looking at the ball.

I reckon refs should be made to give reasons in post match interviews, if u aint got the balls to make the right decision then dont be a ****ing ref!!!!!

You can put in another factor against Spain now, the manager ain't the best. It was obvious they were too narrow yesterday but he didn't put on real wingers to stretch the defence out, get men in the box and whip balls in to a defence sitting deep and tight. That is the only way to break a defence down that is doing that, but they were very lucky in the end.

I would write off Spain now on the back of them usually imploding and now also seeing how rigid he was with his approach (think Wenger in europe where they can't break all day from midfield and have to actually have more than one dimension).

You would have to fancy Holland to make the final now. But don't underestimate the Russians! They can keep the ball and have pace. And I just found out that the centre forward is good.

I like watching the Russians to and Arshavin is back for the next game he's fast becoming on of my favourite players to watch I think he'll have a big game against the Swedes and Palyuchenko the CF does look good too but he's abit frustrating at times he shoots everytime he touches the ball when sometimes there's better options around him but I can't wait to see Arshavin I think he'll be the difference maker against Sweden.

The Turks are very talented when they actually play. If they show up for 90 minutes and attack when they have the ball they could be very dangerous because those fellas can really play.

Croatia will do them in the QF the Turks will be without their keeper but that comeback was class to watch I could do nothing but laugh at Cech. I watched the first 80 minutes of the Portugal game and Nani played well as did Quaresma but Postiga is still crap and as soon as Veloso went off the Swizz took control Yakin and Barnetta when he came on were immense. Then I switched it over at 2-1 for the last 10 minutes. I love watching chelski players **** up it makes me soooooooo happy:D

The even funnier thing is that Cech had already said before the Euro's that the official ball to be used worried him as it was too light and could change direction at the last minute, concerning him as to whether he'd cope with it. Well after tonight, obviously not!

I cannot believe Cech handed Turkey that game. Just shows that even the best can **** up at the worst moments.

Turkey were out, they were beaten, but fair play to them they just threw everything forwards, and the Czechs didn't make any positive motions to keep the ball once they'd cleared it. They just allowed themselves to get pinned further and further back. But even so, if it wasn't for Cech's unbelievable fumble, they would have probably held on. Turkey just got all the momentum from that point on, and the winner was a cracker. A really great finish.

Not sure what Volkan's problem with Koller was? What on earth made him do that?!

I'm actually a bit dissapointed, as I thought Turkey were a bit poor technically, and would have rather seen Czech Republic in the 1/4 finals.

Oh well.

What were you watching mate, the Turks are superb when they get going. The second half they passed and created as well and as much as any team in the tourno. They ripped apart a solid Italian clubbed defence. They've a lot of technical ability in that side, much more than the Czechs who have become fairly ordinary without Nedved, Rosicky and a younger Koller.

The only problem with the Turks is you don't know what they will do. They are either sublime or ridiculous and often do both in the same game.
