Spurs will make a big money move for Damien Duff if they sell Carrick (personally, i think thats a good idea) and will sell Calum Davenport to Birmingham City in the coming days for £1M.

There is talk that contract negotiations have been brought forward with Carrick in the last two days and Martin Jol, over in Germany with the BBC, has apparently met with Carrick to talk about the situation as he is not happy with the way things have transpired. Ive been informed that the club wish to stay on top of this so will offer Carrick comparable terms with Keane and King. if he knocks that offer back, they'll make the negotiation breakdown public and announce that he will be sold, so making him look like a greedy bastard.

also, im not sure if anyone else has heard this but Damien Comolli has apparently been at a few world cup games, including the argentina v ivory coast & italy v ghana games.

His comments on Zidane lead me to hope that we will make an audacious bid to get him in Lilywhite for next season.

He's retiring.

And eventhough I didn't want him at spurs... As much as I rated him 2 years ago I think he's totally of pace today.. If I was the french national coach I wouldn't pick him for my team...

he did look pretty poor, but not quite as bad as viera.

The whole France team played like a team of idiots. They have no hope, and still havent scored a WC finals goal since Petit's goal in the 98 Final.

There're some reports about us bidding again for Steven Reid. I'll be very diappointed if we did so as Reid is not better than what we already have. We have got to aim at real improvements in our new signings to take us up a level; and not to waste resources on the run-of-the -mill type of players anymore.

Yes. I agree....stop linking us to shite players!!!!!

i guess we look at the value too sometimes, bit like with murphy. maybe it'll work out and maybe it won't. I'm sure keano and kelly would have seen enough of him to say how good he was.

reid was duff's replacement at blackburn ffs. Personally i would prefer wrightphillips, robben or joe cole before duff. reid is pony. the next transfer activity needs to send a message. poor transfer activity led to the demise of francis and graham. i hope MJ doesnt make the same mistake. we need to announce intention and ambition with signings we make. reid says we're going backwards and duff says we're going nowhere.

I disagree on the Duff point, whilst there are better players who might be available for less, buying Duff would be a statement of intent of better things to come. Buying a player bought for 17mil and buying him off Chelsea is sending out a pretty good impression i'd say.

We need to buy undiscovered talent or bring our own academy players through. mix this with a few choice signings and we will have a good recipe for success. To buy, buy, buy is not always good. We need to try to emulate the Man u system where they brought through some class homegrown talent with a passion for the club. Mercionaries are a short term band aid solution.
Look at Chelski! Drogba, Crespo, Kezman, Veron & Gallas toname but a few. No matter how much you pay them they are either unhappy, don't put the effort in or just don't perform.
That's expensive shit!

Yep, but for every Drogba there's a Zola, for every Crespo an Ardiles and for every Kezman there's a Schmeichel.

You don't know which you're getting until they arrive!

sorry but thats rubbish.

to say buying duff shows intent to go nowhere is crazy. he's a very good player, a friend of keanes, an irish international and just what we need. he's highly sought after across europe and if we could recruit him, he'd be a massive improvement on what we have. MJ wont be making any mistakes regards signings.

how many of his 1st team signings have really failed, except andy reid?

we knw the cluub are going to recruit decent players that fit in well and improve on what we have. why all of a sudden would that change.

Lets not forget Comoli. A student of Wenger, who lets face it has made some incredible findings over the years that far out-weigh the pony signings. I personally think, and this isn't blind optimism, that we will make at least one amazing signing from the WC and I don't think the will be like the Senegal secnario from before.

but he wasnt first team. he was signed as backup to mido and was sold quickly when it transpired he was failing to reach the desired level.

thats what i mean, even in those cases, they act quickly to ratify it.

well i'd have said rasaik failed, and he was so far below par that it was criminal to put him in the side. It'll be interesting to see how our back up signings sell, seeing as most of them have not made the grade and been loaned out. It might show we buy value and give them a chance to grow, or we speculate and take the risk on the money. I expect ziegler, halfredson, davenport, defendi, to go like hammy this summer.

I'd say Rasiak was a panic buy though so cannot be included. The thing is we don't actually nkow who it is who is buying the players. It could be Martin or Damien or maybe they both have to agree, maybe there's a third and they have a vote? Maybe it's Danny Lev...?

It's rumoured that we're going to make a 6 million bid for Duff. At that price, he's worth a gamble though I'd prefer Babel who I think may be available at a similar price + Edgar Davids. That way we also save on the massive wages paid to the Bullpit. I'm also assuming that we are getting Zokora as is suggested by some reports.

I hope all the talk of Steven Reid is paper & agent talk he's not the left sided player we need. I like Ryan Babel, Ajax proberly would say there not a selling club @ the moment but they clearly want Edgar Davids maybe MJ could iron out a deal with cash plus Edgar if he wishes to return to Holland.

I hope it's a case of once Reid, twice shy for the club as I don't think there's a rated Reid around the scene at this time.

I don't want to rain on anybodys parade but it appears ManUre and Scum have entered the race to sign Zokora. Hope Zokora being good buddies with Commoli swings it for us

Plus his agent has already said that Zokora considers Spurs to be an exciting prospect.

much as i like steven reid i cant for the life of me see where he would fit in. he wont dislodge carrick or jenas, he's a davids type player so wont take his place unless of course he leaves. then if we sign zokora which is looking likely how would he get in then. it wont happenunless of course both davids and carrick leave. onto the duff link, i think we should hurry up and seal this deal while other clubs are looking to the WC for the next big playersi really think duff is the answer to our left sided problem. hopefully rebrov can do us a favour and knock out tunisia so Trebelsi will sign on at the lane
