I'd welcome him.

don't think he's needed really, we need wingers and full backs.

Chinaman

Might be a good addition to the squad, but difficult to give him a spot when everyone is fit.

ERM, arent you forgetting the left wing lol

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 02:02 PM
Not really the kind of winger I have in mind.

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 02:16 PM
Not for me, i would prefer an out and out winger, Downing being the one in mind, imagine him and lennon out wide, pinging the balls in for Berbie. Oh yes!!!

Welsh Spur
8th June 2006, 02:22 PM
I can't stand Downing. Fair enough Torres may not be as overrated as my opinion leads me to believe, but Downing is simply not as good as he's made out to be. If I was Gibson I'd have snatched Levy's hand off just for being stupid enough to offer £7.5M for the lanky ****.

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 02:24 PM
OK, but who else could we possibly go in for? in the out and out winger mould ?

Welsh Spur
8th June 2006, 02:35 PM
Do left wingers seem to be a worldwide rarity?

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 02:37 PM
i think so, Cant think of many in the world class category off the top of my head, Can you ? That we could possibly go in for.

Danishspurs
8th June 2006, 03:17 PM
I'm danish so it's possible that i rate him more then you do, but what about Gronkjear(former Chelski, Birmingham)?? He has had a difficult season at stutgart, because they dont play with wingers but the coach says he's the best player in the team but he just don't fit the system...

He play really well in the last national match against paraguay and he's got all the skills you need as a winger... He's lightning quick, good dribler, and his crosses is good...

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 03:30 PM
Not for me, dont rate him at all, BTW is he not a right sided winger ?

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 04:58 PM
Can't stand Downing either. If there's a guy who's overrated, he is. Would prefer Pedersen or any of the Dutch wonders.

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 05:11 PM
Sneijder maybe, that would be the one, he could do a job for us.

laspur
8th June 2006, 05:44 PM
D'allesandro is a good player, but I still prefer Duff out of everyone. We need to sign Duff end of story.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 05:55 PM
We may get Sicknote II in Duff. Don't question his ability though.

I think he needs a new scene and regular football and Spurs will offer this. I know there is alot more to come from Duff.

Can play both wings... Don't think he's ideal solution either, but I just can't think of a lot of quality left wingers who don't cost at least 10 mill...

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 06:04 PM
The only worry is he's injury-prone and tends to need long lay-offs. And he won't come cheap. At a minimum of 10 million, will he guarantee us 30 games?

laspur
8th June 2006, 06:07 PM
Injury prone is true, worth a gamble in my opinion because we know he is a playmaker no question.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 06:10 PM
May well be; and is the only British player who could do a bit of the Gazza magic.

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 06:16 PM
I cant fault that i for one would be landed if we could get Duff, He is the out and out winger type i think would work so well for us.

laspur
8th June 2006, 06:19 PM
That's what i'm talkin' about Chinaman. Duff on the left, Lennon on the right that will scare the shit out of any team.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 06:23 PM
If we play 2 out and out wingers, we would need a Makelele or Viagra type in the middle. Otherwise people will run us off the park in midfield.

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 06:28 PM
Maybe that is where Zakora could fit in ?

laspur
8th June 2006, 06:29 PM
True, when playing certain opposition that may be the case. Who will fill the enforcer roll in the team since Davids looks good as gone. Wouldn't mind Huddlestone in for Jenas against certain teams.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 06:30 PM
Don't know much about this Sakura guy. Is he a guy with a biting tackle and endless energy?

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 06:31 PM
apparently so, What about Ghaly?

Hudds and Carrick will be too slow in the middle. I believe we can only play one of them.

WelshSpur82

Not forgeting Tainio

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 06:33 PM

Don't really think he's anything other than a fringe player in the squad. And there must be a clearout of central midfielders soon.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 06:35 PM
Taino is not particularly quick either.

laspur
8th June 2006, 06:36 PM
If Hudds get's that body and foot into people like Roy Keane who wasn't fast by any means, then it could be possible.

WelshSpur82
8th June 2006, 06:36 PM
Yeah i agree, Murphy wont be here long, Davids looks like he may be on his way, leaving us with Carrick, Hudds, Jenas, Ghaly, Tainio and maybe this Zokora. Thats not a bad selection in my eyes.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 06:40 PM
One weakness of Hudds is that perhaps he's so big and heavy that once he's committed to go one way, it's difficult for him to change direction. So he can be easily wrong-footed by a nippy guy.

So will everyone else on the team, we should give it a go. As for Zokora, can't rate him, i've never seen him play but if he's the business then I welcome him.

Anyone remember what a tubby git Lampard used to be? Hudds can trim down surely. I agree about Duff. Isn't Ribery a left-winger?

D'alessandro is a good player but not for us, we have enough players for his position, I agree that Duff will be another sick note and would rather we tried Routledge on the L.W.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 07:56 PM
Routledge is not a left-footer, nor is lennon. There were suggestion to have Routledge on the right and Lenny on the left; but that would only diminish the threat of Lenny. Would rather have a proper leftie.

I always forget about Routledge, it's been long since he's played for us. Jol apparently has something against him. First action Routledge played in this season was about 5 minutes then he was sub. Then was sent to Portsmouth. Don't know whats going on with Routledge, will he be sold or stay on the team.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 08:09 PM
He had been injured, but could not regain his form when he came back. In any case it would have almost been impossible todislodge Lennon.

WelshSpur82

Also looks like Charlton are interested in Routledge,

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 09:07 PM
I wouldn't even think of selling for less than 5 million. Rather he stays and develop with us by playing 20 games or so. Then we can either keep him if he is contented to stay or sell him for a load.

i think pennant is probably a bigger talent than routy, but there's a lot of baggage with him, so that makes routy a hot property even though he is somewhat untried. i think he'll get atleast half a season with us to pump his price up. see hammers have bought bowyer lol.

Chinaman
8th June 2006, 09:23 PM
Bowyer was a talent wasted. I had good hopes for him in his early days, but sadly he let himself down time and time again.

England's No.1

Agreed, had a lot of potential, but has let himself down badly imho.

D'Allesandro is a good player but i dont see where he'd fit in. people say we shouls sign Downing, well we shouldnt as he is shit. Ribery has a lack of pace but is better than Downing, Duff could be another sicknote but at the end of the day everybody loved Dazza. id like to see us sign Duff, definately not put lennon or routledge on the left as they are not left footed in the slightest. i hate when we are linked with Pennant, we dont need a right winger and he is no better than Routledge. if we signed Zokora and he did the business, where would that leave Jenas in a 4-4-2, provided Carrick stayed which he should do.
